Guitar Gallery inspector tuning in... I'm stoked you like it as much as you do. I'm always thrilled to check out any Gibson on the job, so I finally bought one of these in Bourbon Burst just this week and no one can rip it out of my hands. First new Gibson I've ever owned and I could not be happier. That top on yours is godlike too, enjoy it!
The fact that you said so many variations of "Nut Cut" without cracking up shows how much of a professional you are. (Joking aside, that is a beeeautiful new axe, kudos!)
I have this same guitar. It was a Long & McQuade exclusive in Canada. I love, love, love it. It's my best playing guitar. Gotta say, your top is mucher morier flamier than mine. That thing is nice. But I'm so stoked on mine. First thing I did was take of the pick guard.
Loved the Super Contra 3 at the beginning! Guitar sounds great! But let face it, Uncle Ben can make any guitar sound great with his nothing-less-than-BRUTAL talent! Love your videos! Keep rocking’ brother!
Beautiful top. I had the exact same situation. Just browsing guitars, and I saw a standard 60s with a top that absolutely HAD to come home with me. Turned out to be my #1 even over the standard 50s p90 gold top. Hope yours becomes as special to you as mine did for me. I think those 61 burstbuckers are absolutely incredible and will eventually become sought-after.
Hey Ben, I'm at a stage where I know all my pentatonics and arpeggios etc. but I missed the stage of my development where I learned Blues Licks and how to apply them. Could you do a lesson where you teach some essential licks that can be transformed into other licks and used to target 3rd 7th 9th etc of the chord as it changes? Maybe a "This is why you Suck at guitar... you can't USE Blues Licks". Thanks bro

mine has a similar flame so I took the pick guard off and it's staying off, it's a cherry burst with a 50s neck Gibson is making a good guitar now nice guitar and congratulations
Just watched the video, and I love your Les Paul. I just got a 60s in Bourbon Bust this past May, and I see what you mean about the frets. Love your videos.
Glad you mentioned the nut. My version of a video of me checking out my last two online purchases (an Ibanez and a Charvel) would be exactly just bitching about the nut being installed/cut too high. This is a very nice Gibson indeed.
That's a beautiful guitar! I love the LP, my favourite guitarists play LP, Zakk Wylde (originally LP), Jimmy Page, Slash, Jimmy Page, Kirk Hammett (when he plays greeny), Jimmy Page.
Dam that's a good looking guitar, great find Uncle Ben. Sounds balls to the wall amazing as well. Thanks for the setup tips 😎 There's a shop here in Australia that does PLEK on all their guitars for you as part of purchase. They fit your preferred string gauge and ask how you like the action. It plays beautifully. Also, whilst they don't have all their stock photographed online, when I asked about the flame maple top, they were more than happy to photograph them on a couch next to each other so I could pick 🤘
I never liked lighter colored Les Paul’s. Then I saw the Joe B Lazarus with quadruple A top (veneer, but still) and I had to have it. Now, it might be my favorite Les Paul coloring, above and beyond the cherry burst, tomato, bourbon burst and ice tea burst. I also have a Gibson Les Paul Standard, 2019, in sea foam (great deal), but more forest green than sea foam…again, it is a very nice top for what it is and a deal I simply could not pass up. Ben’s guitar here is utterly and completely stunning. Not enough superlatives. I love it. Congrats, brother.

I ended up getting my Floyd dead flush with the body and the guitar now plays better than any guitar I've ever played. Don't fear the truss rod!
Glad I caught your video Ben, my 50s standard in Bourbon Burst is arriving any minute now! I suppose I can jack up the thermostat a little bit more. 😁 Transitioning from various Cordoba and Yamaha classicals I actually appreciated the big neck. And for anyone who was wondering, yes, this is my first electric, and NO, I DIDN'T EVEN CONSIDER A STRAT! Liked and subbed!!

Great video and great playing as always.
Ben, I resisted for decades buying a Les Paul, even though my various band mates had them and wouldn't play anything else. But when playing leads on the 12th frets, it sounds ice pick bright. I then opted to get a bridge position Lollar pickup. That sounds a bit better but not nearly like yours. Your LP sounds amazing. I'm going to get a eq box to see if I can attenuate the treble spectrum.
9:30 Really good info here on nut height. I got an Epiphone Les Paul Modern a couple months ago and I think it feels wonderful, even at a very low action, though I tend to set it up a bit higher. I'm not knowledgable on these kind of details and now I realize why it feels a bit better than my other guitars: because the nut is also cut perfectly!

Beautiful guitar Ben. I've been setting up and working on my guitars for years but I picked up a couple new things from this video. I check some additional stuff too, like intonation , but you probably cover that on the extended version.

@@BenEller RIGHT!
The timing of this honestly couldn't be better because I just purchased a new Charvel from Sweetwater and I'm expecting it here in just a few days.
There arent a lot of things that sound better than a gibson and a marshall. The guitar sounds awesome. I have a Les paul with the 57s for pickups and the thing is a beast. Enjoy the channel, very entertaining and informative. Thanks for doing what you do.
Just "rewatched" your "Humans Being" last night 🤘
That is a sweet top on that guitar nice choice and as always great playing
Beautiful guitar Ben. I've been setting up and working on my guitars for years but I picked up a couple new things from this video. I check some additional stuff too, like intonation , but you probably cover that on the extended version.
I love mine, I have a Lemonburst as well from Sweetwater. Mine too was pretty much flawless.
I've got 2 Les Paul studios and 1 SG Standard. I'm hoping one of these days I'll get a Les Paul Standard. But after growing up in poverty, I feel incredibly lucky to have the guitars I have!
