Jesus christ didnt even notice. Honestly a joke, the amount of cards ive recieved in recent sets that are like this is a joke. Once i even had two cards glued to each other in a jumpstart pack..
A true Lord of the Rings fan would destroy the 1 of 1 One Ring if they pull it.
Pfft. Easier said, than done.
It's gotta be the other way around. Only a hobbit-like normie, who is not a fan, and therefore does not understand the card's value would be able to destroy it.
Also lore accurate.
@@erniespratt1660 Was about to say something similar. True fans would know that most people wouldn't have the strength of will to destroy the One Ring when they hold that kind of power in their hands.
Not going to lie, if they do it by throwing it in a volcano that would be epic ! (Please don't throw Magic cards into volcanoes at home.)
I love that the one ring is already a pringle

Aragorn looking like Ice Cube 😂
It brought a silly grin to my face seeing Elijah Wood (Frodo) show up at the end. The interaction he had seemed so very genuine and he was just so excited to see all the characters come to cardboard.
"Oh, here it is, in my pocket...isn't that odd now." (Puts it back in said pocket)
I was also grinning like a fool! A nice bit there at the end

@@jonathandevereaux298 hey I want money too 😆
Dude... Dont spoiler it for everyone else...
Elijah: *attempts to keep the ring to himself
Sean: oh boy... here we go again...
I truly wish the One of One Ring falls into the hands of a random person just like it fell into the hands of an unexpected creature. 🥳😋👍
Nah... it is predestined to end up at Star City Games... just like 001 Ragavan
There's no way WotC will let some random person have that card. It's worth too much for them.
Random kid who don't know the value then proceeds to "mistreat" it 😂
It will most likely never be opened for the next 20 years, sitting in a dusty booster box in the basement of a scalper, and that would be the best scenario for these scumbags, because people would dream about opening it
WotC's hope here is that the card is never opened or at least not by someone posting it online, as long as it's unconfirmed that the ring has found it's owner, people will fight to find it, just like in LotR which is kinda poetic and sad at the same time
It most likely will. However, the ring will seek the most powerful bearer it can find (the biggest whale possible) and will only release us of its corruption once destroyed.
Most of the artwork is really beautiful and clearly has much work put into it. Nevertheless you can't say you are trying to stay as true as possible to Tolkien and then ignore lines like this "In the midst of the vessel sat Celeborn, and behind him stood Galadriel, tall and white" or "Soon the white form of the Lady was small and distant. She shone like a window of glass upon a far hill in the westering sun, or as a remote lake seen from a mountain: a crystal fallen in the lap of the land." Was it really necessary to change the skin colors of Galadriel, Aragorn and Eowyn?
Their skin colors don't matter to the lore of Middle Earth nor do the stories of their characters in general. It's an artist's interpretation of the characters and it's a more modern look on Lord of the Rings which makes sense considering there was a heavy influence of Egyptian and Middle Eastern culture in Númenor.
Galadriels skin color doesn't matter. Aragorns skin color doesn't matter. Skin color does not matter in Lord of the Rings.
I agree! I'm not a fan of changing character's skin colors to fit political agendas!
Characters should be portrayed as described in source material!
And it's not racist to say that I'm a brown guy myself (Latino), neither I nor any of my other brown friends feel that this change is appropriate, just feels like virtue signaling, to make more cash, disrespecting the creator's original
Ideas doesn't ruin the set or anything, but I don't like the vision of the creator being manipulated for no reason other than to try and look virtuous!
They would never change the skin color of a character that wasn't white, so it feels hypocritical to argue that it's just an artistic choice, that wasn't politically biased!
@@parzivalx01 You showed us how little you know in your comment. Keep consuming “Modern Product”.
@@parzivalx01 There already are haradrims
"Was it really necessary to change the skin colors of Galadriel, Aragorn and Eowyn?" For proper racial shaming, WOTC had to make sure the race of the most heroic characters were changed from white. WOTC can't have white people looking up to white heroes because white people are undeserving of hero status. For some reason, racial shaming is okay when it's white people who are being shamed.
Ah can you feel that? The ESG score risiiiinggggg
All at the expense of Tolkien's world building, Northern European cultures and mythology. No one cares unfortunately, not since Marvel was able to appropriate literal gods and rewrite them... why respect the Tuatha de Dannon's influences or the tales of Wotan that clearly inspired Mithrandir?
It's disgusting imho. Making Journey to the West cards Caucasian/ Gaelic would be white washing, yet somehow it's not equally offensive when the literal lady of light is no longer fair skinned as described in the books? Outrageously disrespectful to anyone who values culture, diversity, and a love of lore.
The only thing more precious than the One Ring is Elijah Wood's laugh.

@@wowomah6194 I will say, I believe Legolas has dark hair in the books, so that one is accurate. Tolkien was famous with his long detaily description and I think changes like that are bizzare
Lefties in California think if they show more good black characters the demographic will stop all the crime.
I don't wanna be a downer but that ring temptation mechanic is not good flavorwise. There's no downside to the temptation, and every player being able to have a ring bearer, kind of a letdown
in MTG two players can already have the same legend. That;s just how the game works.
It should have been upsides until the final part. Maybe have the creature die when you reach the final temptation
That doesn't really matter, since every temptation you may swap the ring bearer. I do agree that only upsides is not very flavourful.

That is so random and bizzare I agree
Tolkiens words were important to them except those about Aragorn, Eowyn, Eomer, Merry, Gandalf, Galadriel, and others. Not to mention Aragorn swapping swords with the Witch King of Angmar. Also who knew that so many characters were left handed: Aragorn, Merry, Imrahil, two dozen orcs...
The curling on the 001/001 ring is already so bad
The art and the flavor of this set is beautifully on point
I love magic. But i hope WOTC isn't deleting negative comments
Hahahaha even the one of one can't be printed correctly 😂
And I highly doubt Tolkien would approve of many decisions in this set

@@calinvlad858 "some did not like Aragorn had a beard in Peter Jackson's movies" that's complete bullshit. I was actually there back when the movies released nobody gave a damn shit about it. Interesting also that you basically debunked your own argument with :"There's nothing wrong with wanting characters you like look the way they should".
The only "nonaccuracy" of the movies the fans didn't like back in the day was the missing of Tom Bombadil. But nobody gave a damn about Arwen being the one bringing Frodo safe to Rivendell, Saruman the "colourful" dying in Isengard, not conquering the shire in the Epilouqe, or that between Bilbo's 111th birthday and Frodo's journey in the books actually 17 years have passed. just to call out some small examples.
This thing isn't about accuracy to the books. It is about a group of people whom most of them didn't even read the books in the first place are whining about their favourite fantasy character isn't white anymore. But hey "I'm a racist little bitch" doesn't sound as good like "I'm defending the books". There you have your actual argument
@@calinvlad858 If it's about accuracy then in the Jesus example he should be a middle eastern guy with brown teint and curly black hair.

As I said the only change people didn't like was the missing of Tom Bombadil. the people didn't care about the other examples of change i gave you, but seems like correct reading isn't one of your strenghts. As I said I was there, when the movies started. I was part of this giantic hype.
And to your question "Why that is plain racism? Why is this one special?" It isn't special at all, that's my point. Not liking somebody because just of his skin color is the very definition of racism duh.

I vow here and now that if I get the 1/1 One Ring that I will toss that noise into a volcano.
This is amazing, I do think its a missed opportunities to release the battles mechanic in March of the Machine, and then not include any battle cards in the next set release, especially one where there were so many epic battles. Battle of the Black Gate would have been so cool to see in a card.
Yes, this.
Is it confirmed there are no battle cards in LotR?
That’s a really good point, like they just came out with this mechanic and what property has more iconic battles than LOTR? Helms Deep, Pelenor fields, Isengard, and Bywater?! So many good battles, and they don’t include it in the set?! Missed opportunity.
So I don't have an issue with diversity, however I do have my gripes, primarily with the reveal of the Doctor Who sets.... those are all based off and inspired by the actors that portrayed those characters, however when it comes to LOTR, a series that has just as much love if not more, specifically the film series mind you, they won't use those models for the characters???? And I know it's most likely for Wizards to peg us fans with a secret lair, but come the fuck on....
I believe Warner Bros owns the actors' likenesses when it comes to the movies and it's legally considered an different entity or something, so it's probably just a case of Middle Earth Enterprises and WoTC not wanting to pay WB to use them.
The Doctor Who stuff is being created in collaboration with the BBC, so that probably explains why they can use the actors' likenesses for those cards.
Because of BLACK Aragorn i will NOT buy this shit.
