I just wanted to follow up and say I finally finished this video. I have been playing on and off since I was a teen and im 35 rn. I tried out some things from about half way point of this video last night (keybindings / action bar setups with the shift and ctrl for second and third sets and Q /E for slot 7 and 8, auto combat, combined bags, turning char adjustments, auto run/walk toggle) and tonight ill try out the second half in game (adding my 'kick' for my class i googled it looks like wind shear for shamens, add ons, getting mining and herb as professions, warband quests/banks, color of flightpaths, deff wanna make a mage for portals teleports lol) super appreciate you lucky ghost! always the best been following ya since i started on ESO a few years back ! Always learning new things from you!
id maybe reccomend one profession that gathers, and one profession that crafts. that way you can craft materials from what you gather. as you can get some pretty nifty items and gear from some. but getting the resources can be costly if you cant gather yourself
I haven't played WoW since a friend let me play Cataclysm on his account way back in the day and lately I've had a great time with FFXIV and decided to give WoW a try to have a bit of variety. I've been feeling discouraged because a lot of people complain about the new or returning player experience being overwhelming and I would absolutely agree. But this crash course turned it into a cakewalk. You really told me everything I needed to know to really get into the game and I am really grateful for making it as easy and painless as you did. Gonna tell everyone else I know who has reservations about picking WoW up or back up about this guide.

Thank you so much, as a returning player who hasn't played since the start of BFA, I can't believe how much has changed. You really do a spectacular job of explaining things clearly. And while I'm here, I wanted to comment on motion sickness in the game now. The newer game version gives me horrrendous motion sickness and I couldn't find a setting that helped - UNTIL I scaled the UI. Scaling the UI to be bigger and scrolling all the way out on my character to max distance helped an incredible amount. Hopefully this helps someone else. ♥

very comprehensive guide lucky! I havent touched wow since Cataclsym so this was a great way for me to catch up with the current state of the game. I must say the core progression systems have changed a lot, definitely feels way more accessible and rewarding than before.
This is an incredible video. I started playing WoW a few months ago and I only played it for couple of weeks and dropped it as I was so confused about what I’m doing. I struggled with setting up my action bars and wasn’t sure what are the best abilities to use and what are the best rotations. I started playing it again a few days ago because I had fun playing it before even though I was frustrated and confused when I played it before. This guide has been extremely helpful and I would recommend it you really did a great job.
I stopped playing after Cataclysm ..I'm only 5 mins into the video and blown away...factions don't matter. Servers don't matter. This isn't the WOW I know and remember! Thank you for this video!

@@LuckyGhost As we know, with the game being this old and this complex as it is an MMO, and as you are capable of simplifying and explaining things well, I would suggest you to do another video, that goes into more detailed things about systems, how they work and for example, how PvP activities work. That is, if you deem it being worth the time, for new players I am sure it would be worth it to watch or listen to it if they just find it.

I played WoW regularly from 2004 - 2012 and have just now come back in late 2024/early 2025; and this was immensely helpful for me to get back into the game.

Thanks, very much needed this. Not played for 4 years and needed a catch up. So much out there pretends to be the basics but ends up expecting you to know way more than you can ever remember after so much time away.
Hearing you talk about “kicking” spellcasters as a mage reminds me of Vanilla Wow in Scholomance - I would use a combination of Polymorph followed by counterspell to pull mob groups in one particular room - I had so many random players thank me for showing them that combo to pull mobs in a particularly dangerous room back in the day…when scholomance was a level 60 dungeon.
This is a fantastic guide. I’ve been playing since wolk but basically skipped shadowlands and dragonflight so I learned a lot about all the modern changes

I use the Tukui UI add-on because it's amazing for easy layouts, if anyone wants a quick way to sort your screen out into necessities and make it all consistent and nice plus you can copy the settings across to all your characters really easily

So, I played WoW for years. I first started playing at the end of BC right when the events for WoTLK were taking place. My very first experience in WoW was the zombie invasion, good time. I quit around WoD. Well it's been 10 years since, I just started getting into WoW again and started playing while their 20th anniversary was taking place. It's crazy how much time has gone by, well i started just running time walking dungeons, mostly because I play healer and tank classes mostly. And well I knew the dungeons that were in rotation for it, "classic". And i got really lucky I'm guessing cause i got the timereaver mount from one of the bosses. Feels good to be back and it's crazy to see how much has really changed.
So I have been off and on for years and always have a fallout within three or four days after getting out of the isles and never know where to go and last night was about to quit again and just now found your video and seen where to go next. Thank you!!!! I did have a MMO mouse but need to get a new one since my 1-3 buttons don't work but I do have a razer nostromo ( to play league) and will rebind stuff like your set up instead of having all the keys to press. Again this video has helped out tremendously!

I just started this guide I was a beast with demo warlock and transforming into a demon back in the day…I got sad when they took that away and then came demon hunter I been out of the game for awhile so excited to see what’s new!!! I hope for metamorphosis back but I’m hoping my demo warlock is better but demon hunter was fun when I experienced that

Hearing you talk about “kicking” spellcasters as a mage reminds me of Vanilla Wow in Scholomance - I would use a combination of Polymorph followed by counterspell to pull mob groups in one particular room - I had so many random players thank me for showing them that combo to pull mobs in a particularly dangerous room back in the day…when scholomance was a level 60 dungeon.
This is a fantastic guide. I’ve been playing since wolk but basically skipped shadowlands and dragonflight so I learned a lot about all the modern changes

I use the Tukui UI add-on because it's amazing for easy layouts, if anyone wants a quick way to sort your screen out into necessities and make it all consistent and nice plus you can copy the settings across to all your characters really easily

This is an absolutely fantastic video im not new to mmos (FF14 player) but am new to WoW and there is SO MUCH here thats so helpful.
So, I played WoW for years. I first started playing at the end of BC right when the events for WoTLK were taking place. My very first experience in WoW was the zombie invasion, good time. I quit around WoD. Well it's been 10 years since, I just started getting into WoW again and started playing while their 20th anniversary was taking place. It's crazy how much time has gone by, well i started just running time walking dungeons, mostly because I play healer and tank classes mostly. And well I knew the dungeons that were in rotation for it, "classic". And i got really lucky I'm guessing cause i got the timereaver mount from one of the bosses. Feels good to be back and it's crazy to see how much has really changed.
So I have been off and on for years and always have a fallout within three or four days after getting out of the isles and never know where to go and last night was about to quit again and just now found your video and seen where to go next. Thank you!!!!
I did have a MMO mouse but need to get a new one since my 1-3 buttons don't work but I do have a razer nostromo ( to play league) and will rebind stuff like your set up instead of having all the keys to press. Again this video has helped out tremendously!
This was very informative and helpful. It also encouraged me to return to retail WoW when my finances permit.

Something I did not find an answer yet is about Chromie. It allows to play old expansion (thing I want to do since I missed many of them). However, when I switched to Pandaria for example I did not find the way to get to Pandaria. How to get there? Thanks!
Go in the Portal room of omgirmar/stormwind and go through the pandaria one
There is a portal room in your capital city which will take you there

I just started this guide I was a beast with demo warlock and transforming into a demon back in the day…I got sad when they took that away and then came demon hunter I been out of the game for awhile so excited to see what’s new!!! I hope for metamorphosis back but I’m hoping my demo warlock is better but demon hunter was fun when I experienced that
