    NOTE: the speakers are all 16 ohms even though the pics in the video shows 8 ohms. The reason: I didn't want to open my cabs to take the pics but took the pics from Celestion's website.

      Are there any differences in the sound of 16 and 8 ohms?

    • @karlroszko
      @karlroszko 16 днів тому +1

      I wanna know that too, especially combined with running an amp out at 8 that is usually on 16

      Euge, I suggest you to try the Celestion Alnico Gold in the high gain context. It sounds really good. I putted four of them into my Orange 4x12 cab and I couldn't be happier. It sounds really good on the OD1 channel of my JVM 410 with my Jackson King V loaded with Seymour Duncan Custom humbucker and tuned in drop C standard 🎉

    • @Poly6Groove
      @Poly6Groove 16 днів тому +2

      @@Mark_RaiThere’s a subtle difference. Lower impedance speakers usually will sound less bright, with their characteristic mid frequencies pitched slightly lower. The amp also behaves a little differently with different taps, from what I’ve heard (didn’t try yet) it feels more open with lower impedances. So yeah, there’s a difference but it should be subtle, so what’s important is to choose your preferred type of speakers, and matching their impedances according to your amps and cabinets needs. Rock on! 🤘🏽

      @karlroszko 15 днів тому

      @@Poly6Groove i was going to say the JCM800 sounds a bit smoother at 8ohm, little less top end. It’s subtle for sure but its noticeable and i quite like it

    It'd be nice to hear different combinations of them. The Greenback has all the high mids and highs that the Creamback lacks, whereas the Cream has the low mid girth that the Green doesn't. I wonder what a 4x12 with two of each would sound like.

    All due respect to Celestion, who make great speakers, there's some other names that have REALLY stepped up their game and are producing some fantastic speakers for the same or less money. Eminence, Jensen and Mojotone to name a few. And it's not just price they're competing with. They all have different character, uses and tone frequencies than Celestion. I suppose my point is just because the name is so popular and iconic, don't tune out the others. There may be your dream tone just waiting to be discovered in another brand.

    Very good depiction of what all 3 sound like recorded... funny thing is I love the sound of Greenbacks IN THE ROOM when I'm playing through them but they always sound weird when recorded and this demo shows that too. You know the sound you get when you put your ear against a big sea shell? I always hear that with Greenbacks. The Creambacks are a bit too harsh in the high end for me... V30's sounded the best to me on this video overall.

    They all sound great. I’ve recently put UK made V30’s in a Marshall 1960A cab, replacing the T-75s that had some harsh frequency spikes. They are 8ohm speakers and sound fantastic with the JCM800 2203x, which I had to set the output to 8ohm from the amp. Do you think there’s any difference in tone running the amp out at 8 instead of 16?

    Thank you very much for this video ( subscribed ). Very simple, one riff repeated so you can focus on the differences and your deduction as well. I have a 2x12 vertical cab with V30s, and was thinking of swapping one of the speakers, not really sure what would be the best, but maybe I would leave the top one to be V30 , and I think I would chose a creamback for the other bottom one. The amp is DSL20HR and I am more after a hard rock sound. If you have your thoughts on it please share it with me

Well I still mostly use the stuff I bought in the 90s: JCM800s, 5150s, Marshall cabs, SD-1 & TS-808 etc. I guess those are considered standards but if it ain’t broken there’s no need to fix anything 😎💪.

A head technician from Groove Tubes taught me what I know about tube amps! He used to set up amps for live stage shows of most famous bands. People like Metallica and Kiss are some of the bands he worked with! I released this information to the music world yesterday! It's the video called GOD MOD on my channel! You can change the power rating of your tubes in your amp! Give your amp almost double the base distortion, sustain, etc. With only retube and normal bias! Research your tubes as far as their power rating & how it can change your sound! Amp is still stock electronically and you have 10 different options for level of brutality! My amp has so much natural pure gain! I literally can't use a boost, overdrive or distortion pedal with it most of the time! ENJOY! It's like my tube amplifier is a Nitro Methane Funny Amp this way! It's like it's alcohol blown nitro methane chugs man! Your cool dude! You metal awesome that's why I'm telling you! Later!
