My daughter's cat, Lily was diagnosed just before Christmas 2022. My daughter, Gina was herself battling terminal cancer. We told her about Lily on Christmas Eve, eve. Although she was heartbroken, she knew she did not want to put her beloved kitty through treatments that she herself suffered through for four years. Lily turned 19 on 1/18/23. Gina celebrated with her and told us she did not want Lily to die before her. One week later on 1/25/23 my beloved daughter passed away at the age of 23. I am utterly heartbroken but I want to believe my beautiful, selfless, caring daughter is getting ready to bring Lily to see the other angels where they both can be free from this horrible disease. Bless all of you and your beloved pets.
My cat Medusa has 5 of them. I can't afford the vet. So I'm just giving her a ton of attention, and food and making her a total brat. She has a massive personality!. She has her own bed, own space, and everything. On my bed she has her own pillow and blanket too, I love her so much and I just want her to be as spoiled as possible before she passes away.
I thought I was the only one who was going through this, I've had my cat Blondie for 7 years , I've been worrying about her mom who just turn 13 years old she was born with a breathing problem she seems OK as long as I run a couple of humidifier were she sleeps, but now I'm more worried about her daughter, because I never had a pet with a problem like this, I thought about trying to set of some kind of funding for animal lovers who can't afford treatments. My hands are tied I need help please....
Maybe you can get a low and deferred credit card called Care Credit. You can also ask a Vet Oncologist if they work with charities. Maybe they also allow payment plans or even volunteering. Also before any more problems, try to get pet insurance. I wouldn’t have been able to treat my cats for cancer without it. Trupanion covers 90% of cancer treatments.
I’m so sorry! See if your Vet might help you for free or works with charities. You can also apply for a Care Credit card, ask Vet if you can make payments or even volunteer or “work off” your bill. Please try and get pet insurance in the future- it paid for 90% of my cat’s cancer treatments. ❤
Thank you for the informative video. I learned yesterday that my cat has mammary cancer. Scan next week to determine if the cancer has spreaded to the lungs. I really hope it's not too late and hasn't spread. Please pray for Zelda 🙏
@@post121 I noticed a small lump on her mammary chain. I had it cheked out by one vet, told me nothing to worry about. The following year, at her routine check up, I had her checked out by my new vet and he suggested we get some tests done. Deternined it was mammary cancer. We quickly scheduled a blood test and an x-ray. Nothing was detected so I then scheduled a surgery to have the whole mammary chain removed. I git a call 1 hour after dropping my cat off for surgery. The vet told me that smal lumps appeared on the other mammary chain. He told me this was a sign that métastase had begun and so the lungs we're probrably already infected. He suggested to not go through with the surgery as the harm was nost probably done already so maybe better not to put the cat through the surgery and recovery. It's been almost 6 months since that day and my cat has shown no sign what so ever of degrading. The tumour has evolved though. It hasn't affected her life as of now, so I'm keeping her around until I notice she starts suffering..
My cat had breast cancer. We had to euthanize her a month ago. From the moment we found the first lump she went through multiple surgeries to delay the spread of the disease, but ultimately lost the battle. She still blessed us with her presence for four years after the initial diagnosis. Now that she's gone and there's nothing else to do for her, I can't tell if I'm watching this to cope or to torture myself. I guess I can get some closure this way. Thank you for the video.
@@fixinfkinsandwiches6183 Thank you for the kind words. I've been thinking about her these days... Or maybe she has never left my thoughts. She was my kitty soulmate for 13 years, I think I'll miss her til the day I have to go myself.
I’m sorry for your loss❤. My cat was just diagnosed with breast cancer and had her partial mastectomy. Your post saying you got 4 more years gives me hope. She’s not sick at all. Acting as she normally would.
@@sara31773 Fortunately breast cancer in cats is a virtually painless disease in its early stages, just like human breast cancer. Your cat won't feel sick unless it starts spreading, which is much less likely to happen now that she had the mastectomy. I'm sending all my love and hugs to you and your kitty. May she bless you with many more years of companionship.
My cat has mammary cancer and we are doing all we can to make her comfortable. I wish I looked this up months ago when I noticed the first lump. She went through the first mastectomy. Left side but it’s already spread to lungs. She is on prednosilone to reduce swelling but so IMPORTANT TO DO SOMETHING IF YOU FEEL SOMETHING.
Just found out that my 10-11yo cat may likely have mammory cancer. Got her spayed very late, and now I'm scared for her and myself. I wish I went to the vet earlier instead of waiting, too. I hope I go for good vets that can help me.
My cat has 3 mammary tumors and unfortunately I caught them late. She is an older cat almost 14 years old and at this point I’m just going to make her comfortable. My dog currently has squamous cell carcinoma in her mouth and it is inoperable or curable. I took her to the vet to remove as much of it as I could but was essentially told nothing could be done and enjoy her while she’s healthy and make her comfortable. That is what I’m currently doing with both my cat and dog, both are seniors, is making sure they are happy and comfortable and when the time comes to have them put to sleep.
@@DrSueCancerVet Hi Dr Sue, Thanks for sharing. I just found out that my cat, Hayley whose only 7yr 8mos now had a bleeding mammary tumor removed (May 20, 2023). My vet I think did a partial mastectomy from what it looks like. I don't know? We are going Thurs, Jun 8, 2023 to see an Oncologist at VCA Westbury on Long Island, NY. I didn't know abt needing surgery for the other side, but makes sense to do so. A chest xray was done prior to surgery and shows her lungs are clear. I'd like to start the chemo as soon as possible. I guess she'd need a 2nd surgery for the other side first, then the chemo? I just want to nip it in the bud and give her the best quality of life possible. I'm so glad I just found your video today! I might of saw it previously, but now it's so needed! Thank you again!
@ericahouston4395 how is your cat. My male has had a large lump appear within 2 days. Vet has ultrasound no fluid so is thinking cancer he also has high temperature, we go back tomorrow to see vet and decide what happens next. Vet told us 90% lumps in cat are cancer & mammary cancer rare in males but can be aggressive. Just heartbroken it may be cancer. He seems fine in himself but the lump is big and skin is tight.
Thank you so much for this video. I live in Britain and our cats tend to be spayed very young, so I don’t think our vets see this very often. My cat has just been diagnosed with mammary cancer via a biopsy. She is a rescue kitty so I don’t know at what age she was spayed. My vet was going to remove her tumours individually as she has 2 on one side. I used the advice you gave and my vet contacted a specialist oncologist and they provided the same advice as you. My insurance will cover it so she will have her appointment with the oncologist on the 6.11.19. Thank you so much for uploading this video. Her tumours are nearly a centimetre and I mistook one for a nipple. Her behaviour had also changed as she started sleeping on my hand the side the tumours were.
I wanted to provide an update about my cat, for those who may go through this with their fur babies. My cats tumours were 8 mm and 3 mm. The CT scan before surgery showed no spread to lymph nodes or other organs. She then had a radical mastectomy on the affected side by a specialist surgeon. She stayed in hospital for nearly two days afterwards and when I collected her I was given pain meds to administer at home. This consisted of an oral solution every 8 hours 3 times a day and a tablet once a day. I can’t remember if this was a course for 5 or 8 days. She had to have room rest for 14 days from when she was collected from hospital. I cleared a room out so she would have nothing to climb/ jump onto. I also closed the curtains as she’s a fan of the windowsill. I had my iPad set up so she could watch cat videos of birds during the day and I spent time with her in the evenings. During this 2 week period she needed to wear a collar to stop her getting to her wound. The last few days her ears were getting sore so I bought her a surgical vest which she tolerated well. Her histology results revealed that the smallest tumour were blocked mammary glands and not cancer but the other was cancer, but not high grade. She had her stitches removed after 2 weeks from being collected from the hospital after her op and there are no restrictions on what she can or cannot do. Due to her results they have not recommended chemotherapy in this case, but she will need to be scanned again after 4 months to check for spread. I have the option to have the other mammary chain removed. I am stressed about this because I don’t want to put her through another op, but due to the aggressive nature of the cancer I think I will. God bless anyone who reads this and are worried out their pet. My love and prayers are being send your way. Also thank you Dr Sue for the helpful advice. I’ll keep you all posted.
The day after my cat had her stitches removed. I found 3 very small lumps on her right side. Only one lump was big enough to aspirate. This lump was minuscule and her Oncologist said I did well to find it. It was aspirated there and then and the results were a type of breast cells. I have decided to go ahead with a radical mastectomy on her right side once she has recovered from her previous surgery. I was checking her for lumps as suggested by Dr Sue when I found it. I drew my own skin map and the oncologist found this helpful and asked to keep this. I really like my cat’s oncologist and feel she really cares for my cat, I also really appreciate the information I have learnt from Dr Sue which has enabled me to take a proactive approach to my cats care. This whole process has been stressful but has been much easier to deal with due to our oncologist and Dr Sue in our corner. 🐈💕
My cat has now had her stitches removed from her second radical mastectomy. The histology results came back as benign. I’m still glad she had the other side removed as there were lumps present and she’d already had cancer on her other side. She’s doing really well and does not need chemotherapy due to her previous tumour type, but will be CT scanned to check for spread in a few months time. Each case is different, but one thing I would strongly recommend is to liaise closely with an a specialist Oncologist in your area and use the information Dr Sue gives here when talking to your pets vet before referral to a specialist. Thank you again Dr Sue from my cat and I. 💕🐈
@@TheKuldi Thank you for asking. She recovered from the cancer, but is poorly at the moment as she got into a fight with another cat. She’s hurt her front leg and shoulders but nothing is broken.
Do you know of any vet specialists or what type I need to search for in California? The vet we took her to just removed one of the masses, and I don’t know if it’s spread to her lymph nodes
My Vet told me not having your cat spayed causes them to get cancer three times as likely. The estrogen in their glands produces the cancer so having those glands taken out when being spayed decreases their chances for cancer by 75%. My cat was never spayed.. and now I feel horrible. She is 9 and was just diagnosed with mammary cancer. They want $1800 for a surgery that ultimately might buy her another year. I can’t afford that so we are spoiling her until her time comes. I’m heart broken 💔 she’s been my best friend for 9 years.
Thank you so much for this video, my baby girl Prue is 9 and has Mammary Cancer and it's been a tough decision for me to know what to do and to make the best decision.
My cat has little lump in her skin near her nipple its not attached with her stomach ,or. not reddish in colour or swallow only inside her skin 2 months ago I took her to vet he told me that's its harmful if it get bigger then we need surgery to remove it. When I touched that lump its squishy n move it's not giving any kind of pain to my cat I m so confused and scared bcoz I think what if it was tumor or cancer.plzz if someone knows about this type let me know I love her so much I m to scared.
My vet said my cat may have Mammary cancer. So, my vet wanted to do a Biopsy first to remove them first *then* see what they are. Should I just ask them to check it first? I'm worried and want to make sure I ask the right questions.
Thank you very much for creating such a highly informative video. I wish I had started watching your videos sooner. Coco (short for Coconut) is a 15 year-old Himalayan runt and she has recently been diagnosed with a mammary carcinoma in her left mammary chain. At the moment, I find myself having to make one of the hardest ethical decisions I have ever had to make in my life. The unfortunate reality for many fellow feline owners is that financing the treatment is very difficult - if at all possible. As a potential medical student, I understand the perspective medical practitioners and hospital boards take is in terms of making such a decision is based on the QALY (Quality-Adjusted Life Year). I find it difficult to envision the life of Coco when affected by chemotherapy and the pain that she may be in (assuming she is able to be treated). This pain is truly unlike any other.
Aisha Aliexandra Unfortunately, the decision was not my own. My mother disregarded my thoughts and had her put down immediately. Although I detest the haste and would have done things far more different, ultimately, it may have been the best decision for Coco.
@Aisha AliexandraIf the tumor is causing significant pain and treatment will not make the situation any better, the answer is clear. Perhaps you may be able to give them a better end-of-life experience than Coco had.
So glad I found this. My cat just had a mastectomy on one side due to a mass we found. Her biopsy came back as a malignant carcinoma and I'm trying to figure out what to do for her.
Visit the channel Veterinary Secrets by dr Andrew, he showed many anti cancer remedies such as dandelion rooth tincture, cbd oil, fenbendanzole. I am searching for advices too, because my cat Dusty has mammary adrnocarcinoma stage 2. We have to be positive and do the best for our furbabies, I am praying for your kitty to survive cancer and live many more years. 🩷
My cats had lumps for only about 2 months just after her first heat.one is very large a sample has been taken and results will come wednesday. Im praying it isnt cancer. She is 10 months old.
So I got my 9yo cat's chest lump checked 6 months ago and only fat cells where found but now it's larger, pushing against the skin and feels lumpy.( Spayed at 1 - 1.5 years of age from the SPCA) I'm taking her to the vet tonight, i'm expecting a cancer diagnosis. We have pet insurance but only up to $1,500 a year(with 300 deductible). so the cost for, Xrays, Biopsy, blood work, surgery, chemo, after surgery meds and ect I'm probably looking at $30k. I love her and want to do whats best, but how can I come up with this huge amount when I live pay check to pay check?

@@TheKuldi Thanks for asking, Sadly the cancer had moved to her lungs and vet said it was unlikely she would survive the surgery and if she did, it would not prolong her life any. We made her comfortable and she lived two more months before we had to say goodbye. She was a good girl may she RIP.
Hi doc..my cat was found out with mamaary cancer 8 months ago. She had lumpectomy and three chemotherapy sessions. I am wondering why I sa another lump this time and quite hidden undrrneath her skin for me to notice. Please help me understand. I wasn't sleeping well for many nights.
Hi everyone, There is a study about Astaxanthin intake, and It can be a HOPE for our animals. Intake of astaxanthin can have positive effects on the cat or dog's mammary tumor and shrink it.
I've found a small BB bullet sized lump on my cats left mammory gland nearest her tail, it seems small and it appears there's two of them, the mass is actually on the teat itself which is slightly blue/purpleish colour, my cat hasn't shown any symptoms has been eating well and sleeping normally - she is around nine years old.. We are taking her to the vet tomorrow at Five PM .. she is an indoor cat, I don't know for sure if it's a tumour or what it is but a lot of googling different things lead me here and your video has been very informative. I just hope my cat pulls through, I also live in England like the other commenter so insurance and cost isn't a problem, these lumps have only appeared within the last week and everything else is normal, she is a rescue cat so I don't think was ever spayed, I'm unsure if she was ever pregnant, I did slightly squeeze the lump and some yellow / red discharge appeared, there is also some crusty residue there but very small minute amount .. She is going to vet tomorrow and I will try to update, I'm hoping it isn't malignant.. or it has spread, but thanks for the information and statistics about treatments etc, if it indeed is a sinisister tumour then I will show my vets this video and hope they operate accordingly and swiftly so my cat can live a healthy and longer life, I was hoping she'd reach at least age 15-16 as a house cat, she is my rock.
Ketzk I’m sorry you’re going through this. Push for it to be aspirated and get yourself referred to an oncologist. The lumps on my cat are tiny 0.8 and 0.3 cms. My vet had never done a radical mastectomy. I’ve had my cat referred to a specialist vet. They followed the same approach as DR Sue suggests scans etc to get a clear idea about the situation and surgery and potential chemotherapy. Dr Sue can’t give advice over UA-cam as she said in a video that she would need the pets full history and would need to get it aspirated. She has a saying which is why wait aspirate. I had my cat scanned today and they think it will be treatable by surgery alone. If you need anymore advice please post and I’ll reply. 💕💕💕🐈🐈🐈 Just realised you weren’t asking for advice from Dr Sue. I really hope your appointment went well. 💕💕💕
Thank you so much for the kind words and helpful information, Im So pleased you found a suitable professional and really hope your cat makes a strong and fast recovery. So glad you managed to find a suitable oncologist to take the surgery, I hope your cat makes a full and speedy recovery 💗💗 We took Bellè to the vet yesterday, on closer inspection it appears my cat has two nipples in one spot & it’s actually the nipple / teat itself that is swollen, the lumps I can feel are the actual glands themselves that have swollen; under where her teats are, no other lumps or bumps, there is a slight bruising and inflammation around one of the double nipple / teats / she was prescribed some anti inflammatory medication and we are giving it a week to see if there’s any improvement- we are hoping and praying it’s just mastitis (common in older female cats who haven’t been spayed) // she hasn’t shown any signs of pain or discomfort , she’s had one of 6 doses of medication , the vet is unsure what could of caused it but if there’s no improvement by next week and her glands are still inflamed we are going to do an X Ray and take things further. Thanks again for the kind words and support and helpful information, we are certainly keeping an eye on her & hoping it’s nothing sinister and just a case of mastitis , the vet said if there is anything serious an extra week would be okay considering that the lumps are very small and only just appeared - again we are really hoping it’s just a slight tramua on the nippple where she’s banged it or done something - there’s no pus / redness or swelling , just bruising and inflamed glands, the vet seems to think that a blood vessel could have burst leading to the swelling. Again thank you for your support and information , if things don’t improve we will be certainly pushing it further next Tuesday when the appointment is - I wish your cat & mine a speedy recovery and healthy life for many years 💗💗💗
Ketzk I’m so glad it appears to be sorted. I hope you don’t mind but I prayed for my cat and I’ll remember your cat in my prayers. I took my cat to the oncologist on yesterday as I managed to get a cancellation. The oncologist said that mammary cancer is rare in Britain as we tend to get our cats spayed before the 6 month mark and she only sees it in rescue cats. They gave her a full body scan and I was told yesterday things looked good but had the final results tonight. There is no spread to any other organ and the lymph nodes have not been affected. So far she ticks all the positive boxes according to her oncologist. They will carry out a radical mastectomy as outlined by Dr Sue in this video. They will then test the tumours and decide how aggressive the cancer is and will decide from there whether to carry out chemotherapy after surgery. Dr Sue has created vlogs about chemotherapy for dogs and cats. Animals tolerate it better than humans and my oncologist said the same thing. My cat has inflammatory bowel disease which is diet controlled but this should not stop her tolerating chemotherapy according to her oncologist. Dr Sue’s videos have allowed me to learn about chemotherapy as I would have been opposed to had I not seen her videos. Dr Sue had also done a lump and bump video suggesting pet owners should check their pets every month. There is a really good research paper about mammary cancer that I showed my vet it was written in 2006 and it was another factor that helped my vet. veterinarymedicine.dvm360.com/malignant-mammary-tumors-biologic-behavior-prognostic-factors-and-therapeutic-approach-cats
Thank you so much for your kind words and prayers, I'm so glad you found a suitable treatment for your cat and it's going well, as she's young I'm sure she'll make a full recovery thankfully you've found it early and a professional has diagnosed the problem, it's thanks to videos like this and Dr sue we can all learn a little and tell our vets about information like this - my cat has been taking an anti inflammatory medication for 4 days now, her nipple is still bruised it appears to have gone down a little bit but it still looks inflamed/infected, we are going to do more tests to determine what it could be but my vet seems pretty confident it's nothing sinister; it's been a bit of a learning curve for me as we hd our cat via a family friend some years ago, I didn't think she had been spayed; but I'm starting to think she must be as we've had her a number of years now and I've never witnessed her go into 'heat' so I must be been panicking and mistaken in thinking she wasn't spayed; the infection is still concerning and we will try to get her back to full health as quickly as possible; Just so pleased you managed to diagnose the problem early and tests show nothing has spread so your kitty will be fighting fit in no time I'm sure!! I have learned a lot through this whole process and will continually be checking all my future animals for lumps and bumps, although my cat is not all clear yet the signs are looking promising, thank you for your kind words and prayers and I wish your cat a healthy and Speedy recovery
Ketzk I just wanted to update you about my cat. She’s had her op and recovered really well. I’ve posted a more comprehensive update under my initial comment. I hope your cat is doing well. 💕🐈💕
Hi my cat has cancer and she didnt get the right treatment, the veterinarian didnt do a radical mastectomy and just removed one of the lumps. My cat has now chewed at one of her other lumps. I want to take her to a specialist to get her the proper treatment. Do you recommend anyone in california ? my cat is 10 years old approximately.
In march, the vet said my cat had common fatty mammary tumors. She had multiple masses. I was afraid it was cancer and he said it wasn't. Last week the cancer began eating through her skin. Now I have to put her down. To late for chemo. The main mass is huge. She's been my best girl for 11 years. Been through everything in the world with me. She is the sweetest thing. When I have auto immune flares she cuddles with me and sleeps while she is hugging my arm. It is going to be so hard without her. She's my little soul sister.
Monday i also had to put down my kitty. I feel so sad but cancer was coming out of skin and she was bleeding when we came to the vet. I feel so bad but again doctor said she already old enough (15 years old) wouldn’t want to operate her and i agreed, she would have suffered much much more than to put her down. I am happy for all those lovely years with her and i couldn’t have saved her anyway because it was too aggressive cancer. Bless her
I’m sorry my age 13 kitty appears to have mammary cancer which spread to her lungs. I’m gutted. The mass wasn’t apparent until she lost some weight. Now it’s causing pleural effusion.
My 13-year-old cat has been diagnosed with mammary cancer through palpation. I found the lumps out two weeks ago, they are so small but spreaded along the mammary chain. I have already made an appointment with an oncologist for a whole check. My question is, how many chances of metastasis are there? She has no symptoms and she's got a normal appetite. My vet says that I can wait a month and see if the lumps grow, in order to avoid the surgery as she's not that young. I am a little puzzled because I know that an early diagnosis can lead to a better outcome. I want to be optimistic and believe that she is in that 20% of cats developing benign tumors.
Same happened to me but the next day we got checked for metastasis (none) and after the weekend she got surgery. We didn't wait and the vet didn't want either as she seemed absolutely healthy despite the tumors. We hope she recovers quickly and lives a few more years as the treatment seems to have come early, her lungs and all were clear. Good luck with your cat.
I just found a lump on my cat....idk if it’s this but it sure might be She was spayed early but I ain’t taking the chance. It’s maybe just over the size of an M&M, solo and doesn’t look too bad so I think she’d be fine it just sucks to hear that they don’t have a long time after.... I really believe she could have made it to 20. She will be 10 but still has so much life in her. I pray it’s not this or that somehow she’s a miracle case that will continue to live until something else gets her but I didn’t want it this soon. I just hope
So glad the video is helpful and I am sorry you are going through this with your cat. Thanks for the positive feedback - much appreciated! :) (please subscribe too.)
My cat just diagnosed had a mammary cancer today, she's 14 years old and my doctor gave her some medication first until next week to see if there's an improvement, i am so scared if she must going through op, hoping she doesnt have to go through it
mine has the same😭 and liquid comes out sometimes... :( how long would she have?... an estimate? :( the vet told me that there's nothing to do unfortunately...
Thank you for this video. My 12 year old a baby girl has a mammary tumor. She was spayed before 6 months old, so the oncologist said this is an unfortunate case, but does happen. She only has one small tumor, but the X-rays show very small lung nodules indicating spread to the lungs, so the oncologist does not recommend surgery. Is that normally the case? Once lung modules are seen on X-ray, then surgery is no longer worthwhile? I feel terrible that there is nothing to do.
Hi, I am wondering how your kitty is doing as I saw you posted your comment 10 months ago. I am in a very similar situation with my cat and am desperate to know if you were able to identify any surgical or chemotherapy options for your cat? I just learned that cat has small tutors on one of her mammary chains and the x-ray results show small lung nodules indicating spread. My vet (not an oncologist) said my cat is therefore not a candidate for surgery. Any info you can offer would be so appreciated and I really hope you are still enjoying life with your kitty.
I have found with my experiences, as well as friends needing so desperately to save their pets that the vet bills are just outrageous. Yes of course you recommend x-rays, ultrasound because you want to see the spread. Then for a cat a radical mastectomy at what cost? there is no guarantee that you can detect wether or not cancer cells will be somewhere else in the body. Then add possible chemo therapy to the list. I have also found that a bag of food will be recommended in all clinics, and these foods contain wheat, or things that are starchy which turn to sugar. Unless a vet recommends right from the start a whole natural diet, knowing sugar contributes and feeds the cancer then it is a big fail. I had a friend who spent thousands with treatments only to lost the cat all while that cat was fed bs bagged food.
My cat is scheduled for her first mastectomy next week and the vet recommended possible chemo after both sides are removed. Is there any further evidence of chemo effectiveness since this video was posted? I don't want to put her through chemo (she finds it very stressful to go to the vet) if there is not enough evidence of longer prognosis of her life
Most of us pet owners love our pets but the vet bills are just as people bills therefore only rich people can afford and is it worth the pain and suffering of the pet in question... Most people will think of the quality of life ... Give them love and hugs but then let them go in peace they don't deserve to be in pain for our convenience.... Love your pet ❤️
Hi .. I just found oit my 7 year old cat has cancer. There are three lumps and the vet recommended removing the chain and because they are all less than 1 cm she says things will most probably be under control. But the first idea that came to my mind is what you said. Her quality of life. I am not really sure aboit the recovery in a cat her age. All these thoughts make me believe I need to keep her pain free now
My cat is 13 years old She had 2 lump remove from her nipple 6 month ago She grew another one small ball i call the vet i had to wait almost a week Got bigger they did surgery on her again I just noticed 1 week after her surgery A bum around the same area I didn't look why I got her back a week ago cuz she was uncofterble. But I saw it today on the inner side of her leg I can't belive it grew so fact. But anyways I'm taking to the vet tomorrow to see what he says. Thank you if you have any addive.
Sadly I just discovered a pea sized lump near my kitty’s nipple. The vet aspirated it and the lab report isn’t definitive. The vet is recommending to remove it if xray and sono show it didn’t spread yet. However Im concerned because she has kidney disease and high blood pressure. She’s stable with daily fluids and Amlodipine but the anesthesia is a higher risk for her. I have a feeling not to take the chance on surgery especially because the recommendation in the video is to remove the entire chain on one side which seems like a major surgery. If anyone has a similar situation please feel free to share your experience. Thanks.
@@thefloridacouple1945 I'm sorry that you have a similar situation. I decided not to do the biopsy because of the anesthesia because she has other health issues. If the biopsy confirmed cancer then she would need radical mastectomy
which means another another anesthesia and major surgery. Thankfully she's very stable. I give her holistic support; healthy food and supplements. She has her favorite comfy spots to sleep and there's some music cat channels here on UA-cam.
@@Mineesta Thank you! The lump hasn't grown and she's stable. She also has ckd but she's doing well for being 16. I'm so grateful for every day with her.
Hi my cat was 2 years old and already got this cancer i met the vet and they said they want spayed her and after 3 weeks if the cancer still there the will make the surgery. i found this on my cat one weeks before and the tumor is still small . I dont know what to do to make my cat live longer . beside that im also doesnt have enough money for the treatment can u suggest anything that can help my problem now. My cat also never get pregnant.
My vet told me, that 50% of the time, it’s definitely coming back. She would not operate if she found more than one lump, as it would not help at all to operate. She is a very good veterinarian and had a lot of knowledge on that area. My kitty had a big lump and one small below , she said she wouldn’t operate and we was just waiting to see what happen if grow or no, but monday had to put her down as cancer was coming out of skin, so it was already coming and eating her lungs as well... would have suffered too much without being put down. Sadly
@@klorinmo am so sorry I went through all that myself since I posted that message on UA-cam but at least you didn't get lied to I spent like $1700 and those people at the veterinarian literally took my money and lied to me I found out 2 weeks after my cats surgery cause the cancer came back so I went to another veterinarian and she told me what you said and I was so angry but it was to late , but at least we gave are pets a good life that's what counts but hope all is well merry Christmas 🎅
DDC ROCKY yeah that’s exactly what my veterinarian told me, she had a good long life and a loving family who cared for her but i have still a lot of guilt even though it would just have been more suffering if cancer eating her. Always ask for a second opinion when it comes to pets. I feel sorry for your case as it proves they are just greedy for money, no interest for animals well-being. Merry Christmas to you too :)
I just found out my cat has mammary cancer unfortunately i don't have enough money to get her the help she needs. I feel lost because I feel like I got the info and left alone. I have no idea what to do for her. I don't know what's going to happen to get now. Or how long she has. If she's in pain from it 🥺😭
@Dr Sue Cancer Vet Hello Mam, My 11-year-old female cat has breast cancer. Till date, she has one lump in her breast. The tumour often bleeds and is filled with odorous pus. I live in India and there is no facility for animal chemotherapy in my city. Is surgery a viable option?
@@Jdp129 In the initial days, weight loss and fatigue were the two noticeable symptoms. Dryness of the mouth and more water consumption were the symptoms in the middle phases. In her last days, the symptoms were self-imposed voluntary confinement, lack of hunger, lack of sleep and never-ending lethargy. During her healthier days, she used to sleep beside me on my bed. But in her last days, she would hide and try to sleep in my wardrobe. She was very proud of herself during her healthier days, but her behaviour changed dramatically. She became more docile during her illness period.
My cat was just diagnosed. Will have first chain mastectomy next week. I’m so worried but I know I’m blessed that Trupanion pet insurance will cover 90% of treatment. I don’t work for them, I just like to be helpful because I’ve been in terrible situation before without pet insurance.

Also contact Universities, they may do treatment for free.
Dr Sue Cancer Vet please make a video about visceral mast cell tumors. My cat has diffuse mast cell cancer of the liver... I can’t find much info on it, my vet has talked with me, but I’m looking for more in depth information...

Dr Sue Cancer Vet So, I did find the video however it was not very much in depth. I was hoping to maybe see a series or even just a single video about visceral mast cell tumors in cats like the one that you done for dogs... Or like the ones that you done for lymphoma in cats.... My bandit boy had his right medial liver lobe removed a week or so ago by our regular vet, he saved me thousands of dollars that I didn’t have... I couldn’t afford to bring him to a specialist... I just wanted to know more of what is going on with my dear kitty...
My cat, Hayley just had emergency surgery to remove a bleeding mammary tumor & she's fine. She's running around the house & happy, except the tumor biopsy came back as cancerous. We are going Thurs, Jun 8, 2023 to an Oncologist at VCA Westbury on Long Island, NY. I think she had a partial mastectomy? Didn't know to to the other side as Dr Sue mentioned here in this video, but it makes sense to do it. My vet didn't tell me this. I hope on Thursday to know more and to start the chemo maybe bc it's been more than 2 weeks past the surgery to remove the tumor.
I noticed last night i found a hard lump on my cat's forehead that literally appeared out of nowhere. When i rub or touch it she doesn't meow in pain or discomfort nor does she even squirm. She has no fever or change in behavior; she still eats and drinks regularly. My gut tells me she bumped her head on something hard and it's just swelling but i could be wrong. What are your thoughts? Thank you.
I’m sorry for your loss. 😔
So sorry to hear abt your daughter. Chemotherapy is more tolerated in cats than in people. ((HUGS)).
You should probably get her out down instead of letting her die slowly,it is a hard thing to do though
Is she ok? I'm really sorry to hear that
I thought I was the only one who was going through this, I've had my cat Blondie for 7 years , I've been worrying about her mom who just turn 13 years old she was born with a breathing problem she seems OK as long as I run a couple of humidifier were she sleeps, but now I'm more worried about her daughter, because I never had a pet with a problem like this, I thought about trying to set of some kind of funding for animal lovers who can't afford treatments.
Hi, if you don't mind, can you give some updates? My cat has mammary cancer too and has spreaded to the lungs
What were the initial symptoms? Any change in appetite and water consumption? Weight? Anything??
@@post121 Aside from the growth of the tumour, I haven't noticed a change in appetite or water consumption. Her weight has also been stable.
@@gutchmang2430 is your cat non-spayed and how old is she?
My cat had breast cancer. We had to euthanize her a month ago. From the moment we found the first lump she went through multiple surgeries to delay the spread of the disease, but ultimately lost the battle. She still blessed us with her presence for four years after the initial diagnosis.
Now that she's gone and there's nothing else to do for her, I can't tell if I'm watching this to cope or to torture myself. I guess I can get some closure this way. Thank you for the video.

My vet stated that Cats do not do well in chemo but please let me know if you suggest otherwise. I will definitely do all I can do to help her.
Just found out that my 10-11yo cat may likely have mammory cancer. Got her spayed very late, and now I'm scared for her and myself. I wish I went to the vet earlier instead of waiting, too. I hope I go for good vets that can help me.
How is your cat doing now? Was she spayed before being diagnosed?
My cat has 3 mammary tumors and unfortunately I caught them late. She is an older cat almost 14 years old and at this point I’m just going to make her comfortable. My dog currently has squamous cell carcinoma in her mouth and it is inoperable or curable. I took her to the vet to remove as much of it as I could but was essentially told nothing could be done and enjoy her while she’s healthy and make her comfortable. That is what I’m currently doing with both my cat and dog, both are seniors, is making sure they are happy and comfortable and when the time comes to have them put to sleep.

My MALE cat has breast cancer! Super rare im told, but hope the surgeon got it all.
How did he do? My make cat was just diagnosed.
@@lisahart6668 My cat's lump went away, like right before surgery for mastectomy. It seems it wasn't cancer after all.

I had a female cat who had breast cancer. I suspected that because she was never spayed, that it increased her chances of developing it.
I don't see why keeping vital organs in tact would increase likelihood of disease?
My Vet told me not having your cat spayed causes them to get cancer three times as likely. The estrogen in their glands produces the cancer so having those glands taken out when being spayed decreases their chances for cancer by 75%. My cat was never spayed.. and now I feel horrible. She is 9 and was just diagnosed with mammary cancer. They want $1800 for a surgery that ultimately might buy her another year. I can’t afford that so we are spoiling her until her time comes. I’m heart broken 💔 she’s been my best friend for 9 years.

What were the initial symptoms? Any change in appetite and water consumption? Weight? Anything??

Thank you so much for the kind words and helpful information, Im
So pleased you found a suitable professional and really hope your cat makes a strong and fast recovery. So glad you managed to find a suitable oncologist to take the surgery, I hope your cat makes a full and speedy recovery 💗💗
We took Bellè to the vet yesterday, on closer inspection it appears my cat has two nipples in one spot & it’s actually the nipple / teat itself that is swollen, the lumps I can feel are the actual glands themselves that have swollen; under where her teats are, no other lumps or bumps, there is a slight bruising and inflammation around one of the double nipple / teats / she was prescribed some anti inflammatory medication and we are giving it a week to see if there’s any improvement- we are hoping and praying it’s just mastitis (common in older female cats who haven’t been spayed) // she hasn’t shown any signs of pain or discomfort , she’s had one of 6 doses of medication , the vet is unsure what could of caused it but if there’s no improvement by next week and her glands are still inflamed we are going to do an X Ray and take things further.

Thank you so much for your kind words and prayers, I'm so glad you found a suitable treatment for your cat and it's going well, as she's young I'm sure she'll make a full recovery thankfully you've found it early and a professional has diagnosed the problem, it's thanks to videos like this and Dr sue we can all learn a little and tell our vets about information like this - my cat has been taking an anti inflammatory medication for 4 days now, her nipple is still bruised it appears to have gone down a little bit but it still looks inflamed/infected, we are going to do more tests to determine what it could be but my vet seems pretty confident it's nothing sinister; it's been a bit of a learning curve for me as we hd our cat via a family friend some years ago, I didn't think she had been spayed; but I'm starting to think she must be as we've had her a number of years now and I've never witnessed her go into 'heat' so I must be been panicking and mistaken in thinking she wasn't spayed; the infection is still concerning and we will try to get her back to full health as quickly as possible;
Just so pleased you managed to diagnose the problem early and tests show nothing has spread so your kitty will be fighting fit in no time I'm sure!! I have learned a lot through this whole process and will continually be checking all my future animals for lumps and bumps, although my cat is not all clear yet the signs are looking promising, thank you for your kind words and prayers and I wish your cat a healthy and Speedy recovery

I’m so sorry. Poor girl
Bless her
I’m so sorry to hear. My cat has mammary cancer. She’s 13. I’m so sad
I’m sorry my age 13 kitty appears to have mammary cancer which spread to her lungs. I’m gutted. The mass wasn’t apparent until she lost some weight. Now it’s causing pleural effusion.
Wait they told you it wasn’t cancer and were wrong?!
I won’t wait… when you see, you do something about it
How did the lump feel? Movable or fixed?
@@post121 cancerous tumor can be movable and fixed… you have to bring your cat to see the vet asap when you found a lump
How is your cat now?
I just found a lump on my cat....idk if it’s this but it sure might be
She was spayed early but I ain’t taking the chance.
I just hope
Thanks for the video, my cat has cancer and the videos has been very helpful.
So glad the video is helpful and I am sorry you are going through this with your cat. Thanks for the positive feedback - much appreciated! :) (please subscribe too.)
Thank you this video was very informative. I just got a call from an emergency vet saying kitty has this 😞
Glad it was helpful! Sorry about the diagnosis, but hoping your kitty kicks cancers butt.
Dr Sue Cancer Vet thank you for kind words! I will be contacting a cancer specialist soon from the link you provided which was also helpful!
@@ThexEmoKid great!
I’m so sorry to hear this. Just got the same diagnosis for my fur baby.
@@Jdp129 hi I’m sorry to hear this, did you feel small lumps in her stomach area as that is what I’m feeling now and I am very worried.
My cat just diagnosed had a mammary cancer today, she's 14 years old and my doctor gave her some medication first until next week to see if there's an improvement, i am so scared if she must going through op, hoping she doesnt have to go through it
Is she spayed?
What about hundreds of tiny (almost zit sized) lumps across her stomach
mine has the same😭 and liquid comes out sometimes...
I don't want to put her through chemo (she finds it very stressful to go to the vet) if there is not enough evidence of longer prognosis of her life
Hii do you mind me asking how much this costed you ?
Hello could you tell me if you cat is okay and what happened?
All these thoughts make me believe I need to keep her pain free now
Could you please help me? Could it be a non cancerous tumor?
My cat has hard lump on her stomach
My cat is 13 years old
She had 2 lump remove from her nipple 6 month ago
She grew another one small ball i call the vet i had to wait almost a week
Got bigger they did surgery on her again
I just noticed 1 week after her surgery
A bum around the same area
I didn't look why I got her back a week ago cuz she was uncofterble.
But I saw it today on the inner side of her leg
I can't belive it grew so fact.
But anyways I'm taking to the vet tomorrow to see what he says.
Thank you if you have any addive.
How is your cat
Thanks.
Any updates? We are going through something similar and don’t know what to do.
Any updates ? I Hope your cats is ok😢
@@Mineesta Thank you! The lump hasn't grown and she's stable. She also has ckd but she's doing well for being 16. I'm so grateful for every day with her.

What happened is it alright?
Update?
My cat has thin tail growing on the back end of her back on the spine
Any suggestions on what it might be?

Where is this vet located?
My cat just got surgery for mammary is that a cure or is it expected to come back I tried googleing it but couldn't find anything
@Aisha Aliexandra unfortunately I found it can
My vet told me, that 50% of the time, it’s definitely coming back.
Hello Mam,
My 11-year-old female cat has breast cancer. Till date, she has one lump in her breast. The tumour often bleeds and is filled with odorous pus. I live in India and there is no facility for animal chemotherapy in my city. Is surgery a viable option?
@Aisha Aliexandra No she expired on the 2nd of May, this year.
@@অরুণাভদাস how did she die? Was it the cancer?
@@Jdp129 yes.
@@অরুণাভদাস I’m sooo sorry.. what were the symptoms leading up to her death. I’m so so sorry. Just found out my kitty has this tumor too.
Please everyone, get pet insurance! Trupanion paid for 90% of my cat’s cancer treatments! Also contact Universities, they may do treatment for free.

Yes I answer that in the video. Male cats (& dogs) can rarely get mammary cancer.

Hi doc, how long does it take for the cat to recover after surgery?
Thank you.
Definitely have your vet look at it asap. He/she will determine if they should aspirate it and send it to the lab.
