Feb 26, 2023 Moore, Oklahoma (raw live video) - Rare February storms produced several tornadoes

- LIVE video of the storm from my home in Moore. There was 15 tornadoes and up to EF3 damage in Norman, Oklahoma
Thankfully, no tornadoes hit near me. However, the local news reported a tornado in Norman (7 miles to my south) and one north of me in Oklahoma City. This line of severe storms is crazy rare for February. Lots of wind and rain for about 15-20 mins and then it was over with and gone.
UPDATE (27 FEB 2023, 0600L)
News is reporting 15 tornadoes hit Oklahoma. Norman has EF2 and EF3 wind damage with houses losing roofs, cars flipped over. Not hearing any reports of hail. Several local schools are closed, several roads closed, injuries, power outages

If you live in Moore, you do not have to chase!
Storm chasers ought to set up residency in Moore or close thereto for that reason.
Lived there a long time! You're right , no need to chase em in Moore, they'll come to you! Rode one out under the 12th street bridge and on NW 1st!
Reed Timmer lives there or he used to.
Correct. They come to us. I'm on 12th & Santa Fe.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love central Oklahoma.
Moore OK has to be one of the most dangerous places to live
Thank you for the capture. Glad you are safe. I lived in Norman years ago. Checked on my friends and they are all safe and with Pugh much damage. this popped up in my feed, so gave it a watch.
I hope everybody in the OU area is safe. The rain is just starting here outside Ft. Worth.
CRAZY weather...and rare
It's crazy for sure Thursday here in alabama we're looking at a similar setup to what yall had in Oklahoma so far thr time frame they have is from 11:59 Thursday night till 12pm Friday afternoon we will get tighter time frame as Thursday gets closer
AccuWeather was saying there have been 16 tornadoes in OK in February since 1980, and yday there were seven.
My prayers goes to all affected...May God bless you and keep you safe
All I got to say is Moore Oklahoma can't catch a break. They have had 2 massive ef5s hit in 99 and 2013. It's sad. Such a terrible thing to continue to go through
I live in moore too and can confirm it was a wild ride!
Can't even imagine what the next few months will bring...and it is only Feb?
@@ChrisDIYerOklahoma Hope you and your family will always be spared. I live in the Northwoods of Minnesota, and we were blown away one muggy July evening. And without any of the usual precursors that a deadly storm was approaching. In other words, no sign of anything impending, until the actual tornado hit us and blew everything away. Just for historical reference, in all my lifetime living in our rural area, only one other actual tornadic storm had occurred.
@ Chris DIYer ya I know! I live in Kansas and as many tornadoes I’ve been in up here, you’d think I’d be use to it. But I’m not. This year is going to be ugly. I have a feeling. The weather has been all over the place and so unpredictable this year thus far it concerns me for what’s coming. Hoping another EF5 doesn’t go through here like last time. Praying we all make it through 🌪 season because I think Tornado Alley is going to live up to it’s name this year.
@@jogirl836 I sure hope for your sake, the weather will give you people and the rest of the country a break. Even this past winter has some odd events occur. Who would expect that parts of California would have floods and snowstorms at the same time! It's really getting to be unpredictable! Please take care!
Crazy storms!!
Early for Oklahoma...I am leery for what may be in store for this spring
I really need a shelter. Lived in Moore my whole life, watched the Tornadoes from the porch. A little different now, because hubby is now wheelchair bound, we have no ramp to get out of the house to get to a shelter, and I'm no longer able to lift his wheelchair.
Thank you for posting this video.
Prayers to those affected.
Stay safe.
I don't have one either, but need to get one.
Thanks. Sometimes just watching someone deal with storms calmly is really helpful.
I saw the radar. Glad you're safe.
Thanks. It was every bit as intense as the radar imagery showed. NutzWeather
Thanks for sharing! Glad you are safe!
Thanks
Thanks for sharing. Glad you are ok.
Thanks...just sharing raw live video for others to see/judge/enjoy
I lived for several years in central Oklahoma, and it always seemed that Moore and Norman were in the path of bad weather. I’m glad it missed you!
That is a lot of lightning. Big storms are something else.
Indeed
hope yea stay safe .
great video, be safe
Hey 👋 Chris, I live one mile south of the EF2 in Norman, I’m off 24th SE just south of hwy 9 in St James Place Community we all are praying for the families affected by this terrible incident
Glad you're OK in OK ;) But seriously, if you live in or near tornado alleys & see outrageous non-stop lightning flashes, always assume there's an embedded tornado within them & take cover. Learned this many times over living in the south.
Glad you okay. I got worried for you man ! Its great your safe !
Tremendously crazy line of storms...thanks for checking in
thanks for the update. looks like my home moore was not in the worst part, thankfully.
We got lucky...this year is starting off with records being broken
Interesting footage.
Glad it missed you bud! Cool video thx for sharing
Me too. Just installed 9,000w in backyard solar panels. They are all okay
@@ChrisDIYerOklahoma 👏🏻 win
I feel like being in Moore during a storm like this my anxiety would be going absolutely crazy🤣
You should send this to Ryan Hall Y'all on youtube. He was covering this live on stream
I watched him for a little while...great UA-cam channel
@@ChrisDIYerOklahoma he really is. Glad you made it through the storm okay. :)
Looks like our tropical storms. Glad you are ok…lived through Hurricane Ian…155mph winds. Prayers for your area.
Norman (7 miles to my south) got hit with a tornado. EF2+ damage.
@@ChrisDIYerOklahoma I watched the tornado approaching the area on the UA-cam channel called Ryan Hall Y’All last night. He provides live coverage of disastrous weather as it is getting ready to happen. He provides a great service for the safety of all involved.
That was bad. Hope no damage.
No damage. Just some of that sticky "rain-dirt" I need to spray them off
Wow!! Hope everybody didn't get hurt! Now that I think about it, the season for tornadoes is fast approaching for Oklahoma, and Kansas!
Love your WX videos
It's been a long time since I posted a video like this. Thanks
I remember it well. 5 Yukon on Northeast side of Oklahoma antler tornado past West of me on the northwest side of town around Portland meridian and 10th and get damaged in the city
I was in Yukon when this happened my power went out for a bit idk what happened
I live under a mile from where the tornado hit off 24th in Norman, and we didn’t even get bad wind. Everyone’s trash bins were still standing on our street.
tornadoes love Moore, Oklahoma
How close was this to Alameda Drive. I use to live in Ridge Lakes subdivision
Who else doesn't take shelter and instead wants to see it besides me? You! Were you there when the big one came thru? I was living near Eastern/ 19th filmed it 1/4 mile from back porch
Hahaa! Yep. I was here for the 2013 EF5. I bugged out in the truck tho.
Add one more. We sit on the porch and watch from 12th & Santa Fe. Multiple Tornadoes have affected us in some way. Call me sadistic or crazy or whatever, but I LOVE storms. Would love to chase.
Upcoming season is gonna be Anxiety inducing though. Hubby is now wheelchair bound and we don't have a shelter or a ramp to get him out of the house to get to a shelter, and I can no longer lift his wheelchair.
Prayers to those affected.
Looks like a tropical storm.
Beefy storm for any location...intense and wild
i was in yukon
Just open the Doors and Clean the House all in one Sweep! :)
Hahhaaa...IKR?
and what states or area have this storms usually?
What's really crazy, there are NOT any tornado shelters in OKC or Moore. Some who own homes have shelters, but if you live in an apartment complex, forget it. You have to go find shelter and hope you don't run into the tornado(es).
I thought the nado was just in Norman but i guess it was in moore too
Nope...no tornado in Moore...15 total. Norman got hit pretty hard
I hope everyone is ok. Since there are apparently a bit of tornadoes in February I think there will be more than normal in May. 😬.
😮
Anyone know how far Moore is from Cache???
Not sure but Moore is just North of Norman. Hope that helps
Google says 92.2 miles from each other.
I'm glad you were not in norman oklahoma
Dude I live on the outskirts of OU campus. Way too close for comfort
Dang...glad you're safe. BOOMER!
@@ChrisDIYerOklahoma SOONER!
Moore doesnt ever seem to catch a damn break eh?
It's been fairly quiet here for about three years. Prob overdue
@@ChrisDIYerOklahoma Thats insane. Id love to go during storm season. Moore seems to take big hits tho. Moore and Joplin massive Tornadoes. We had an F4 where I live in Canada but it was before I was born.
Im see you have à dual L810 Red tower light
Modified it for 12v DC
@@ChrisDIYerOklahoma led bulb 120 volt unmodified im have à single light and à dialight led L820 and à big Dialight L864 L865 but working in Red mode only
Caused by pulsed radar. Evil at work
April and May are going to be bad at this rate. Probably going to be an F-5 for the first time in 10 years.
Wasn’t there a tornado that wiped out the whole town 10 years ago?
I was here for that EF5 in 2013. It didn't take out the whole town of Moore, but ran right through the heart of the city. I would say 25% of the town (in the tornado's path) was leveled or damaged
@@ChrisDIYerOklahoma that’s insane was your house affected by this storm?
Moore OK is cursed. First one 1999, then 2013, then 2023. When I saw where this one was going... every hair on my body stood up cause I was instantly thinking "Oh no here goes Moore 3.0." Thankfully that wasn't the case.
Do y’all have cellars?
I don't have a storm shelter at the house
Omg! Poor people..ugghh
Again! Moore OK got it bad about 10 yrs ago i think. I live in houston and we get it all except tornadoes.
We have floods and hurricanes and freezes, but at least we get warnings.
Yes, OK gets tornadoes warnings but when they hit, they are unpredictable!
I lived in Florida during all those hurricanes too. I'll take a hurricane over a tornado any day. Tornadoes are evil and unpredictable. Hurricanes...you got a week to prepare.
blustery
If you live in Moore you surely have tornado experiences TvT
Yes...several
Again ?
Edit: I couldn't live there.
Weather been awful
Who cares 👍
