While most of the attention today has been on Norman, Oklahoma after a powerful tornado swept through the area causing significant damage to the city. A second, and even more powerful tornado touched down further West in Cheyenne unfortunately claiming the life of 1 individual as their home was thrown 100+ yards away into a field. This tornado was so strong it also toppled a major radio tower, threw multiple other houses off their foundation, debarked some trees, and threw heavy machinery multiple yards away from their original location
You can see signs of ground scouring as the powerful tornado tore through the open fields and at other locations full size truck and semis were tossed like toys (some upwards of 50) while other homes were completely destroyed or severely damaged and residents remain lay scattered all over the area.
School was cancelled today, and instead of students enjoying their day off the community came together to help the clean up process Leisha Carlson tells Aaron Rigsby.
This is absolutely insane damage for a day like yesterday. Rest in peace to the victim, his name was Billy Trammell.
I live right where they are saying this happened! I'm telling you, that video is 100% a lie. Been here all my life in this city. We are under deep snow. No tornado. No death. All lies! Fake made up video to shock and get likes
Wow. RIP Billy.
What does that mean? It was insane damage for a day like yesterday? I honestly don't get it
@@jerradmechals1 That day was forecasted to have a really limited, and frankly a pretty minimal strong tornado threat. Additionally this all happened in the month of February, and in the plains no less. That's why this damage is pretty crazy to me.
God bless his family
I lived in OKC for many years and the people help each other just like it shows in the video.
Lawton/ft.Sill resident here - That's the Oklahoma standard. Whether it be terrorism or tornados, rallying around those affected and providing relief and support in any way one can is a core value in a lot of folks around here.
@@brad4035 You are all fantastic people, I miss OK. All the best...
People tend to help each other out in disasters, that’s not limited to this place.
@@AnitaDil I meant in general in the Midwest states, they help each other compared to the coastal state.
My thoughts and prayers are with y'all there
@@Spiritdove63 why no prayers
@@hurricaneheather1420 he literally just goes around says this
Prayers for you guys from your neighbor in West Central Arkansas..
Prayers to all the victims.
People of Oklahoma are some of the kindest folks in the country so sorry these type of storms continue to devastate this part of the country year after year.
That is only 152 miles south of here. We did have a tornado warning out here in Dodge City yesterday, but no tornado touched down. I come from Oregon, this is all new to me. RIP to the victim, I hope it was fast.
The bad stuff stayed mostly west of us, over by Garden. We just got the bad wind as normal.. today being no different.
Condolences to the families affected by this widespread damage by this Tornado.
Yeah I was watching this one on radar. It lofted debris up to 16k feet it was definitely a very powerful tornado. Very sad to see this happen so early for Oklahoma.
this tornado reminds me of the old kingston tornado from 1/12
I'ts gonna be a horrible spring...
I almost got hit by the ones last night in OKC
Wow. I'm not trying to be morbid, but I wonder what the farthest a tornado has transported a person is. A mile or two? I could only hope death comes quick.
Blessings to those that were helping!
So sorry for the people and the animals😮!!
that trailer was airborne for quite a distance before it disintegrated on impact.that would have to be terrifying for the occupants. especially in the dark.prayers to all involved.
That's why they tell people living in trailer homes to GET OUT to a SOLID building or shelter. They are nothing but giant kites. 75 mph straight line winds will roll a mobile home. Sad people think when they say get to an interior room or bathroom they are including trailers.. They mean Solid built homes on a foundation bolted down into the ground. Even tied down trailers aren't safe in huge winds.
@@Og-Judywut if ther isnt a building and they have no chocie
These days a drone is almost required to see the extent of the damage. Thoughts and prayers from Vermont.
That path looked like total destruction! Prayers!
GOD BLESS THEM . SAD WE DON,T HAVE A PRESEDENT RIGHT NOW .
Heart breaking...praying for everyone!
God bless all of you, my heart goes out to the family that lost their loved one. A prayer for all of you that were in the path of that destructive storm, I wish your community a speedy recovery.
@@Spiritdove63what a dumb thing to say.
Continued prayers for all from S.E. Alaska.
Prayers for all involved.
I saw damage like this before, and it feels like being at a horrific murder from a monster, very intense energy to witness after. Love to all.
May these families who've had their lives torn asunder be able to find safe shelter and get their lives back on track as soon as humanly possible.
May their communities gather around them and help them to put this traumatic event in perspective and show them empathy for what they've been through.
My goodness. That is intense. I wonder what it was rated. Definitely praying 🙏 for this family tonight , the deceased, and for everyone affected. Tornadoes appear to be occurring more frequently with greater intensity.
That's wow and I'm so sorry. Prayers from Missouri.
Prayers for all the victims 😢
My sincere thoughts are with these people - condolences to all who were affected, from Australia.
Holy moly!!
RIP to the victim!!
Sorry to the family of the victim!
That ground scouring is pretty serious. Those homes were not on slab foundations so we are around EF3 for some of this. Wind rowing of debris is also evident in some images.
I agree, mid EF3 in places...Otherwise upper end EF2 but all that doesn't matter to the family of the fatality..
It's refreshing to actually find someone who actually knows how the EF scale works in the comments section of a tornado damage video for once. I expected to see a bunch of tornado geek kids going "OMG ITS EF5!!!!!1111!!" when I clicked on this video. But yeah, high-end EF2 at least, and very possibly EF3 based on the debris pattern and contextual evidence.
@@zachcurry8392 I understand completely bro...I'm an arm chair meteorologist...ha ha. I have been into severe weather since I was a kid and I'm 49 now..I read everything I can get my hands on about severe weather..Yes you are correct, if a few chicken houses get blown over and some old growth trees fall it's definitely an EF5 in the comments...😂😂😂😂
@@zachcurry8392 I have an EM background and did several surveys with the NWS. I also have had the chance to personally survey tornadoes from EF0 to EF5. The 5 being Rainsville, AL in 2011. There I saw homes slabbed and foundation lifted and cracked. Oak trees were completely debarked. At one point I measured the path at 3/4 mile wide into a wooded area. It was insane.
@@bassangler73 same here just 2 years younger.
Prayers for all.
That’s got to be the worst tornado damage I’ve seen in a long time
By a long time do you mean since December 10th 2021?
@@clutchthecinnamonsergal8493 yes
IMO it’s the second worst this year
this damage came out of nowhere. Most of the damage is focused in Norman. This is at least ef3 damage. Prayers for the people affected 🙏🙏❤️
Agree about the minimum EF3.
EF 1 will roll a trailer home. The fact they sit up off the ground where high winds can get underneath is enough to send them flying. They are not constructed the same as a stick built home that's bolted down to a concrete foundation. The boards and framing aren't as thick in a mobile home either because they'd be to heavy to move with a truck
@@Og-Judy Reason number one that tornado injuries and fatalities are concentrated in the mid west and southeast US. Mobile homes.
@@anthonyloconte7835 Tornadoes are more deadly now in the southeast because of fast moving jet streams & due to nocturnal storms & lack of proper storm shelters.
@@alexmangrum90 that absolutely plays a bit of a roll. Not necessarily because any jet is stronger or weaker. Other dynamics can offset a weaker jet. There are no more or less nocturnal tornadoes than there have ever been.
Prayers to the families; RIP to the victim
@Margie Smith What else ya wanna quibble about? It's an expression. Not about to go anywhere anytime soon.
Never seen so many tornadoes in my life as I did when stationed at Fort Sill Oklahoma back in 97-98'. Was a day when we were told to stand at attention outside because of a mistake someone made in the laundry room mixing chemicals ALL during a terrible storm where multiple tornadoes formed and touched down. In the months I was there I personally saw over 13 tornadoes and immediately realized I could NEVER live in a place like that.
My Thoughts and prayers are with all involved and effected by this!
I guess sadly this is the norm now tornados year round not just the spring and Summer time....
Oh my gosh, looks like Mayfield, KY the day after. So sorry to everyone for the loss and for going through a horrifying tornado like that. Was this an F4 ?
So sorry for your loss of a loved one & then basically everything you owned. Horrifying. God Bless you all & many prayers.
Heartbreaking, so very SORRY
I weep. My prayers to all.
Prayers to everyone affected.
Looks like some of the Clarksville, Tx or Winterset last year. Guessing high EF3 to low EF4.
Don't guess EF-rating, it's really tacky.
That’s insane damage
Holy cow
Western MARYLANDER here! We had an EF-4 here in the Appalachian mountains! In the early 1990's! Some homes were damaged but nobody was injured or killed! A woman in Salisbury, Pennsylvania was killed when a church steeple fell and crushed her van! We rarely get tornadoes. Problem is you cannot see them until they hop, skip and jump over the mountains! 🤔🤷🤦🌪️🌪️🌪️🌪️🌲🌄🌲🇩🇪🇨🇭🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲💙💚💙
Ummm, the tornado you're referring to was on May 31, 1998 and the tornado was not a F4 but a F3
I grew up in Preston County WV, I remember hearing about that when I was a kid. Now I live in GA... tornadoes here are starting to become a regular occurrence for me. The Easter Sunday ef2 that hit murray county ga in 2020 missed my house by a couple hundred yards but just across hwy 225 several people were killed when their trailer park was obliterated.
Where are the basements and tornado shelters? I'm so sorry for those effected!😨🥺😢
RIP
When California gets Snow ❄ you can expect a few days later Tornados 🌪 in Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana. It's going to be a rough year for those States.
Sad. Condolences to the families.
🙏
After storms late last night we woke up this morning to find strange dust all over our cars here in Missouri. I wonder if it had anything to do with this.
What county? What color was the dust? I live in Linn Co.
Yeah weird a lot of dirt on car like a lot stuff in air not normal
We had the same phenomenon…red dust all over our cars. We are in Bartlesville, Washington County, Oklahoma.
This looks like it ripped up grass.
this looks mid to high end ef3, maybe very low end ef4 with the utility tower and the distance the mobile home was thrown
Devastating Damage everything’s gone…. Help/Funding/Rebuilding are needed immediately…
Oh no
Heaven's, it totally cleared where it touched 💔😱
Cheyenne OK [not Wyoming]. Wow. Not much personal belongings left to sift through. Looks like matchsticks. 😔 🙏
It's bizzare seeing an area with no legit trees to speak of anywhere. It must be like an oven in summer with no good sources of shade. RIP to the vicitim and hugs for their family n friends.
That was some serious wind to do that
How sad😔
She was a nasty storm. Prayers for all that were in her path.
I hope all the animals are ok.
That is horrible. 😭
Wow. What a tornado can do. That is just awful.
Was this actually yesterday? No snow in Cheyenne area?
This is Cheyenne, Oklahoma. But, it wouldn't surprise me if Cheyenne, Wyoming got snow
Wind rowing and scoured ground EF4 at most
It is insane damage but yes, also another way to say is unless pple put them back those cinderblocks on the property would be gone if F5
This is a mobile home. Not EF4 eligible by the rules of the EF scale. 150 MPH EF3 at the most.
💙🙏💛
That was an amazing, destructive tornado!! Completely obliterated those homes and tossed the cars and trucks like they were matchbox cars!!! I'm in AWE!!! SMH..so very sad and heart broken for these ppl that lost everything they owned. Prayers and comfort to them all🙏🙏🙏😥😲😱❤❤
Well Mabe some day folks will get smart when they live in tornado infested areas and build round brick homes with round domes for roofs so the tornadoes wouldnt be able to damage them so badly
That's something you don't see often from a tornado, a tower bent over at the foundation!
this is really sad because my familys farm took a direct hit. I heard billy just put his mama in the cellar too. the guy just north of the DOT office didn't even know there was a tornado! R.I.P Billy.
The government should build underground community tornado shelters. Then open them with the advance notice everybody gets on the weather channels
Rip Billy Trammell! Blessed Be He.
So sad.
What was the rating for this tornado?
not rated yet as of the time of this comment
Judging by the fact that the ground was scoured, a house was ripped from its foundation, the radio tower was toppled, I’d say at least high end EF3 or possibly EF4
That has to be a Violent Tornado 😰EF3+
What ef rating is this
Can't tell what was what
Unbelievable what nature can do these poor people affected God Bless and for the lost life my condolences 💙🙏
Oh those Tomatoes do such damage.
insurance companies are screwed , no way can they afford to pay all those claims,
Sure they can, they'll just raise the premiums for the rest of us.
This is just so sad. Do most people have storm cellars?
Sadly no a lot of people don’t have storm shelters
Many of us here in Oklahoma City have underground shelters. On the other hand, many do not
Most people would I think, and it is in Oklahoma.
Not bad 😊
oh my gosh, there's nothing left, how was not more people lost in that...
That's what happens when the trees are all cut down. Been through 2 hurricanes in the forest in a tent. But in a trailer park got smashed.
But could you go through two tornadoes, with a direct hit, in the forest in a tent?
@@duhdims Only the edge of the tent lifted. Trees are invaluable.
@@karenishness1 Yes they are invaluable, but a tornado can completely debark tree's , rip them out of the ground, or shear them off at or near the base
@@duhdims I survived such an episode- two, actually. So what you speak of is much more rare than what I refer to. Good try though. Work for the timber business?
I'd like to express my sorrow to the deceased victim of this horrendous tornado and the family. Expressing sympathy for everyone affected by the widespread destruction of this tornado. It is really terrible.
🇺🇸PRAYERS TO ALL GOD BLESS YOU 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Is it me, or is this starting earlier than usual in our little part of the world. It's usually later in spring. Hope this isn't just the beginning.
There have been tornadoes pretty much every single week since the holidays
Yes it does not usually happen this early.
You just never know in life like this. 3 days or so ago our conversation wouldn't be like this.
So sad. Mother nature is so powerful. I believe. She'll only get stronger.
Wow but got question for ya is that a man or transformer with something wrapped around pole cause that's weird it looks like a man with his back to the pole with light blue shirt and tan kakie pants only problem he's at the top with no lift or boom truck or helpers it's at 240 I think on left side of screen
Always sad when a life is taken. But living in tornado alley is a choice.
It’s still a better choice than California, NYC, or any other shithole city or state like those.
@@CBSooner76 really? Tell us why? Your opinion doesn’t mean jack. Funny that NYC is the biggest city in America and California is the most populated state in America.
Porque no pueden explicar. Do de hizo estrago la. Tormenta ..
Such horrible destruction
Wow it’s like that house was in a blender.
If we had a president, all that Ukraine money would help these poor families rebuild! Yeah, FEMA is gonna rush right in. God bless you all
Not a time for politics People have lost their lives Leave politics out of it Show sone compassion
kinda disgraceful. full stop.
@@pattieplatt2449 Not about politics! It’s about helping our own! I know what it is. I’ve lived in Oklahoma. Have a nice day
We should help everyone in these disasters, not just the locals.
Hope no one was killed.
Sadly one person lost their life.
One person was killed..
Norman was EF-1-EF-2 damage this here could be EF-3 damage.
There is no death only a 'Change of Worlds!! 😇😇
This exactly why I no longer live in Oklahoma.
I'm very sorry for all the damage the citizens of Oklahoma have experienced. My advice to all of you is to seek the Lord and ask for His help during this time. HE TELLS US TO ASK WHEN WE HAVE A NEED. THATS THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE IT DURING THIS TIME. HE LOVES US ALL AND IF WE KNOW HIM AND BELIEVE , I KNOW YOU WILL SEE Him reach out to you. Everything belongs to Him, even all of us, He could reach out to you and do miracles in order to help you. Please pray .
I'd be living in a metal shipping container if I lived in tornado alley
