I have wanted one of these ever since they were released. I own a USA Jackson King V that i love and i wonder how this would compare in sound and build quality to my King V
Its honestly a little bit boring compared to the old USA production line, or even the Japanese production line (even after the Professional Pro was discontinued they continued to make USA-class instrument for the local market). Doesn't even have colored bevels or pinstriping, when Snow White Black Bevel is like THE RR1 color scheme and pinstripe is classic Rhoads. For the asking price new, I'm not sure if its ever worth over just importing an old JDM Rhoads, or rather 2-3 of them given the price difference. I picked up a Japanese Rhoads Custom (top of the line models of the early 90s, same spec as the USA Rhoads Custom that became the RR1) recently and its as well made as any USA I've played.
Yeah I have a USA KV2 and love it but seeing as these have a listed price of like $2,300 that's not worth it at all when you can start finding US guitars for a bit above that
As a kid in the 80s, this was my most wanted guitars of all. Had to settle for playing a friend's, knock-off version. Almost as cool. That one is beautiful.
Dude, the JB is my fav pickup! Love how upfront and present its mids are; it's a straight-up fucking crunch machine. I have one in the bridge of a Schecter C-1 Classic that I keep in drop-A. Most folks don't think of the JB as a pickup for severely downtuned guitars, but I was shocked at how well it works in that low tuning. Just an amazing all-around pickup.
I have Kenny Hickey C-1 tuned to drop B and the JB just sounds phenomenal through hot rodded Marshall stuff like Friedmans and Bogners on my Kemper. I like to think i can get pretty close to Jim Root’s tone through a BE-100.
A lot of guitarists forget that the guitar is predominantly a mid range instrument. As they crank the bass, treble and scoop the mids out. Mids are your friend !
