All of thier music, really sets a mood. What memories this brings back to me. I'm going to be 64 in a few short weeks. Man, time flies by so fast. God Bless you STB
Classics four "Traces" is a beautiful song . "Spooky",Sunny and "Stormy". They have a great sound. Please react to Gerry and the Pacemakers"Don't let the Sun Catch You Crying". Gerry Marsden passed away this weekend.R.I.P. Gerry.
Thank you. Great songs. May I suggest another in this genre... The Association. With hits like Windy, Along Comes Mary, Cherish, Never My Love and so many more. Their harmonies were unparalleled.
I absolutly love these guys. The lead singer was and is considered one of the very best vocalists . We always played "Spooky" on Halloween, just like the lyrics in the song say.
They added the 'IV' to the band's name when it was discovered 'The Classics' was already an act. According to Wikipedia, it denotes the 4 members of the group - except that doesn't account for the sax player, who is a big part of their signature sound, and most album covers show either 5 or 6 members.
Hey bro thanks for doing this quad reaction to the Classics IV, I was just in my pre and early teens when most of these songs came out, but I see that they invoke the emotions in you that they do in me. They take me back to a better time of life when my sister and I would take turns picking LP's on our Columbia Records subscription LOL. They remind me of her especially now, she passed away from cancer in 2016 and I miss her a lot. But the songs live on when people like you react to them and I appreciate it!
When I was 16 I lifeguarded at an apartment complex in suburban Atlanta during the summer of...I believe 1971.. One of the classics IV was living there and his niece was up there for the summer from Florida. I had a mad crush on her...her name was Oceana...pronounced OSANA. I'll protect the innocent and not reveal her last name. Real sweet girl. We wrote each other a couple times when she went back to Florida. Strangely enough about that same time a couple other guys were living there and formed a band called The Atlanta Rhythm Section....they were really good as well.
great job! you must do Wishbone Ash! Vas Dis Blind Eye Errors of My way Sometime world the king will Come FUBB- check this great band out! 1970's dual lead guitars!
I'm only 3 minutes into your video......so maybe you'll mention it later......but I believe Santana also covered a couple of these songs. 'Stormy' ua-cam.com/video/JTGuTkbY7As/v-deo.html I could only find a short instrumental of him doing 'Sunny', but that was part of a medley.
I remember these songs as some of my very first memories of radio. Excellent band and didn't know they were from Jax!. But I just don't get the "Soft Southern Rock" aspect? I'm just not hearing it. Its classic soft rock (yacht rock).
Ain't no one making music like this anymore. It's over.
This is 50 years old, it still gets played on the radio.
Brings me back to High School when I was much younger....... Great picks....Rest in Peace, Dennis Yost.
Such a Soulful voice and Soulful sax. Really expressing human emotion in such a beautiful way. The whole band compliments each other perfectly...
Loved this group. Such an easy sound. Very relaxing.

A great band from the past. Very under appreciated. So many good songs. Most people only have heard a couple of their songs.
The Classics IV were a great group with great vocals by Dennis Yost. Rest in Peace Dennis.

If you haven't heard it, their 1968 song 'Soul Train' is a groove!

Atlanta Rhythm Section was a direct descendant from this group. I''ll work on a quad for you Wayne.
I remember this before I went to war.
Classy doesn't have to be loud or long.

This is my first time here, I’ve listened to many of these shows , this is my new favorite! Thank you Brother!
