Just reading the title, my first thought was New Riff Single Barrel, especially for the price for an “everyday” bottle. I’ve had multiple single barrel bottles and I haven’t been disappointed yet. They’ve all been between 107-116 proof.
I’m have heard great things about New Riff Single Barrel but had not tried it. I picked one up the other day, and I’m sad to say it wasn’t great. Not gonna give up though, I will keep tryng.
Gold Label Jack D SB is everywhere in Texas. That and Bakers 7 are my favorites on this list, love them both especially the Bakers that lean towards 9 yrs not 7.
I’ll go against the crowd regarding Dickel 15 year. Yes it has the characteristic mineral note but it works for me as one element of many in the overall experience. Sometimes I feel bourbon can be a little monotonous so I really appreciate when a distillery brings a unique experience. That probably explains why I’ve been moving to American single malts and Irish whiskeys lately.
Yes, I have the JD sbbp 127.1 proof. Found on the shelf for $69. I picked up an Old Forester single barrel, barrel strength, also on the shelf, Whs H, Floor 6, 126.1 Proof store pick for $99. I love them both! The old forester is a brown sugar bomb! I would love to see your best Old forester sbbp vs your best JD sbbp in a blind. Love the channel and content. Thanks!
Just found two bottles of Evan Williams here in Las Vegas for $33. 2015 vintage. Long absent out here. Glad to see this back in distribution (even though it may be for only a short period of time). Great bottle.
John J Bowman SB has now moved to an allocated bottle here in VA .. kinda wish everyone on UA-cam would stop singing its praises so I wouldn’t have to run out to a store drop to MAYBE grab a bottle I used to be able to pick up when I needed one AND I see those Dickel 15s all the time in VA but it’s always 80-84 proofers … keep hoping to stumble across a triple digit proof
I always see Jack Daniels single barrel , barrel proof here in NH. I have always been able to buy bottles over 130 proof. I personally think they are better than the 120’s in my opinion. Not always a higher proof guy but has been my opinion so far
I agree. Get a Bakers over 8 years old and you will be impressed, especially at $50. I don’t buy Bookers anymore. It is overrated, overpriced and often drinks hot, and I like high proof bourbons. My least favorite Beam product. .

In north Georgia, the JDSBBP is, if not in every store, easily found. I wouldn't argue with any of these, though I'd say that if you don't get the 100 proof version of Dickel, forget it.
I bought my first bottle of FRSB last month, and I completely agree that it is way underrated. I liked it better than the small batch select, which seems to get more love than the SB.
No idea of distibution,but my son and I have been enjoying Boon County single barrels. Also, has anyone had the John J Bowman since they went to the green label? I have one, but have not opened it yet.
FYI - the EW Single Barrel has been opened back up to distribution outside of KY. Here in Houston, TX, it started popping up all over the place last week and one of my local stores has 5 cases sitting on the floor. It's definitely not old stock as the bottle I picked up today was bottled - 2/13/24 and my guess is they weren't selling enough in KY so they opened distribution back up. Glad to see it available again outside of KY as it's a solid bottle. Also, I'm guessing they are more expensive in KY as it was $35 out the door here locally.
Great review. I remember seeing the EW Single Barrels in Chicago everywhere a few years ago. Finally got around to buying one at $35......I liked it a lot, maybe would have been a bit better at 95 proof but still tasty. A few months later I went looking for more and they were essentially gone. A few remaining bottles were jacked up to $75 and that was the end of that! $50 is a pass now. I was tainted by the $35.
JD SBBP is in about every store in the Dayton Ohio area. Just got into Bourbon a year ago after a Bourbon Trail trip to Louisville. The Four Roses Single Barrel was my favorite from the tasting there following the tour. Keep up the great content it's much appreciated!
JD SBBP is available here in PA. Also, I think the KC is 120 proof but not actually cask strength. Remember being able to buy 13-15yo KC SB for $39.99. Really miss those days. Should have bought them by the case. Who knew??
JD SB Barrel Proof just showed up on our shelves. I was there in Lynchburg 2 weeks ago. The single barrels come from the top floor and have to pass a tasting panel. The range of ages in the rickhouses are mostly 4-7 years, with the top floor having 4 year barrels. So, these are tasty single barrels from the top floor with much less age than most single barrels. JD claims they are at least 5 years, but our tour guide definitely suggested the top floor was all taken at year four, and tended to have more flavor than the other bourbons used in ole No. 7. Take it as it is, these are NOT older bourbons, but I personally think they taste very very smooth. But unlike, say, Ruseell's, they do not include a lot of oak flavor.
I can find JD SBBP and Rye readily in Virginia. They've flooded our market with it, and I couldn't be happier. I have a 129 proof bourbon and 134 proof rye. Unreal banana bread goodness.
The Evan Williams Single barrel vintage was just Ok for me. I’d take Knob Creek 9 any day over it for about ten dollars less. I picked up a bottle of Evan Williams 12 year for about 50 bucks, thanks living in Japan, I’m hoping it’s a lot better than the Vintage.
I live in the North Florida area, and you guys are right about Florida not having some bourbons available for our consumption. I agree that the Wild Turkey/Russells products are consistent and it’s a great pour. I appreciate you guys for sharing your thoughts on the bourbons you have had, I do want to try the John J. Bowman products and again it’s a hard thing to acquire in Florida
Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof is showing up more on shelves.Two to three years ago not so much. I live in Englewood Colorado a suburb of Denver. Most though I have seen have been 125-130 proof 👍🏻🥃Single Barrel Select is always on my bar such a great 94 proof whiskey that never disappoints
The EW Sib just hit our market in chattanooga, tn for $31-35, I bought 3 of them. I have to agree that the John j bowman Single barrel is crazy good and that the 4roses Sib is slept on. For the price I think the benchmark Sib is really good as well. Dont know how available Green River Single Barrel is there but it sits of the shelf most places here for $69 and it is a very good pour.
I"m in DFW and while we do get a lot of allocated bottles, the competition is rediculous and the secondary game is worse. Edit: JDSBBP is readily available here and I'd rate it as one of the best values in whiskey. KC9 SiB are also pretty easy to find and also top tier.
JDBP has been readily available on shelves in recent months in the Colorado Springs, CO area. We also recently got a big drop of the EW SiB around town at about $38. Not a terrible price, but was a staple at $25 at a great value; getting up to $40-50 is out of the right range given proof in my opinion.
And I honestly thought that there would be a Jim Beam SB on this list 😂 I tried one after hearing your guys opinion on it and I was shocked at how much I liked it 👍🏻
I live in central Texas and I can find single barrel barrel proof jack at any liquor store around. The best most of the stuff I’m getting now is over 130. Also the rye is every where now too
JD Barrel proof is readily available in Massachusetts, has interesting variation between batches but is consistently good, and is fantastic value. We don’t see Bowman single barrel here. Four Roses Single barrel was one of the first single barrels I bought and I still love it. KC 120 proof is another great value and consistently good. McKenna is about as mediocre as it gets. There is too much good bourbon around to bother with it.
Love Four Roses, gets plenty of love here. Russells also a staple. Prefer the "Full Proof" to Single Barrel like you. Single Barrel, Barrel Proof is magic, but an occasional sipper (packs a punch), Black Label sits on the shelf in stores. Bakers only one I would disagree with, oh and the Dickel can take a hike. Send some Henry McKenna our way to Oz! I'm noticing it's everywhere over there currently.
I can find the Jack BP pretty regularly I like all the Jack stuff bonded bonded rye all single barrel selects including the rye and both barrel proof editions rye and regular whiskey
Bowman and Baker’s 7 are my favs on this excellent list. I currently have a 7 that is 8 years 11 months and it’s outstanding! Also, I can find both JD selections here in NC.
Some single barrels are hit or miss but for the most part they are good. I’m a big Four Roses fan and honestly have never had a bad one. We are lucky the JDSBBP just sits on shelves around me both the rye and whiskey. The HM I’ve never seen and don’t miss it honestly. Enjoy!!
I remember when you could get store picks of Henry McKenna 2011-12 for $24.99. It bumped up to 29.99 for 2014 and after it won whisky of the year in 2019, it disappeared for nearly a year and then was $59.99. I just finished a bottle I had from 2014 and it was one of my favorites. Funny thing, I have 3 bottles distilled on the same day as yours 5/5/2008 barrel #8941 and #8849. It’s certainly more available now here in NoCal Bay Area as is the JDFP. Lots of 130s. Going to Jack in May to do a JDFP and JDRFP pick.
i got the Benchmark FP and it's fine as a neat sipper. I put it over a large ice cube and it became scary easy to drink. For $24 I'll take it. Edit: Wisconsin doesnt get anything, especially near milwaukee. Not even banchmark, i had to go to chicago for that

Nice list, I see JD SBBP all the time at msrp on almost all shelves in NY, on a side note the JD SBBP rye is very hard to find. It is harder to find it in proof over 130, those get sold out pretty quickly. That Dickel is rough, sorry friends.
I live in Colorado near the Denver area and that JD SiB BP is sitting on shelves everywhere around here. Other bottles (example: Joh J. SiB) you have on your videos do not sit on shelves... but that's another story. haha Thanks for the content!
Here in NY (Long Island), the JD SB is also everywhere in volume including store picks (Total Wine), but unfortunately the JD SBBP has been scarce here for the last 6-12 months. Thankfully, I have a couple bottles stashed away. :)
JD SBBP has gotten more visible in MI over the last 6 months. It was gone for over a year. McKenna shows up on occasion these days after being very hard to find for several years. I’ve never seen a Bowman single batch but the Bowman Bros small batch is getting more consistently available.

JDSBBP everywhere in OK and TX. I think Evan Williams is back as a nationwide release and the price is back down. I bought in Texas today for $37.

I think KC 120 is 60-65 here in Michigan. That said, I can find a JDSBBP easily, so you should definitely include that one!
In Colorado, JD Single Barrel Barrel Proof is everywhere (and store picks a plenty as well).

JD SBBP on shelves in Oregon. Mine is 130.5 pf. Love Baker's 7, New Riff SB and Tumblin' Dice SB. We don't get John J. Bowman and all I have heard is most everyone raves about it.
The JD Barrel Proofs are regulars in Houston. The Ryes seem to be as well.

Nice list, I see JD SBBP all the time at msrp on almost all shelves in NY, on a side note the JD SBBP rye is very hard to find. It is harder to find it in proof over 130, those get sold out pretty quickly.

Mostly can only find the Jack black single barrel but I do love the full proof
I sometimes can find 750ml of JDSBBP, but almost always 375ml
I live in Colorado near the Denver area and that JD SiB BP is sitting on shelves everywhere around here. Other bottles (example: Joh J. SiB) you have on your videos do not sit on shelves... but that's another story. haha Thanks for the content!

Here in NY (Long Island), the JD SB is also everywhere in volume including store picks (Total Wine), but unfortunately the JD SBBP has been scarce here for the last 6-12 months. Thankfully, I have a couple bottles stashed away. :)
JD SBBP has gotten more visible in MI over the last 6 months. It was gone for over a year. McKenna shows up on occasion these days after being very hard to find for several years. I’ve never seen a Bowman single batch but the Bowman Bros small batch is getting more consistently available.
I have the Jack Daniels SBBP and I like it. It's easy to find here in Alabama.
EW SiB is back out in the world. I’ve seen it at two stores in Delaware. $30 here 🤷🏻♂️. Also, my LLS just did a sale on HM10 for $49.99 (tax free)
