Yeah, not a luxury meal, but made from quality products. Thing is... If you're eating it, it is out if necessity.
Crackers, those i actually like. Flavor is from those caraway seeds baked in and it is a region thing. Personally I like the crunch. Don't use your front teeth on them though 😂
All in all Lithuanian mre is average to everyone's taste. Variety of menus is not great. Not vomit inducing either...
Fuel tabs are for heating water in field conditions and the zip ties... Those can help in multiple situations. Never underestimate power of a zip tie 🙂

Served in Lithuanian Armed Forces a few years back and I remember everyone hating on our MREs. We called it dog food and would usually eat it with BBQ sauce while in the field. Sometimes while training on resupply one of our supply sergeants would bring a lot of monster energy drinks with his truck and we would exchange these MREs with him for those drinks.

    Former LTU soldier here.
So compared to US MRE we always loved yours better. But thats probably because our own MRE becomes too boring quite fast and "Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" right :D
So basically our (Lithuanian) MRE is standard to what you all saw here. Same thing will be: Chocolate (always the same one), those depressing crackers and all non eatable stuff. Main dish - I believe we have like 10 or 12 of them. They come with pork, beef or chicken + vegetables, rice or some grits. And its all just a mix of two. And there is one vegetarian I believe. Nuts: almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts and if I remember correctly walnuts. And for jam: some different berries or fruit or just honey. Coffee: thats a weird one cause in some packs you will get tea, or some broth. All of them make you warm I guess, but I don't see how they are interchangeable:)
And for that drink you liked - I probably drank like twice :D never was a big fan but I know there are orange flavor and some others as well :)
Overall it was nice to see you give it a 7 cause I dont even know if I would :D But it was entertaining to watch, thx:)

I am Lithuanian, you can get our rations online for 3-3.5$/ after the duty guys have/ store them in boxes.. probably get tired of same taste. i am really surprised you liked that drink and old school dragon matches 😎🤠 but i think the main meal is more healthly and less chemical flavour than USA mre hot meal, still not for weak stomach . Anyhow our MRE really needs some update badly on at least 70% of items included. That said nice you tried MRE of 2.7 million population country. That said- there is no ration you would not eat during the war or food shortatge time.. it would a be a gem anyhow during harsh times+ yes that cooker is pretty damn powerful. Best wishes from Lithuania! Stay hard 🇱🇹🔥 Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦

Those hardtacks are for calories there. They do not mould, they do not go stale. They are very calorie dense. You can break them up or soak them in a drink or bullion or something. It's not the most savoury food but for an MRE it's a valuable addition.

All of the European MRE's seem to have same dense biscuits. In Finland we had these old breads back in WW2 they were called "armour" bread "panssarileipä", you put piece in your mouth at breakfast and you got the taste at evening. After dinner you could take a bite out of it. Basically it was thin bread made from whole rye, water and salt. If you had kalakukko in here, that outer doe is like 20x lighter then the old bread was.

And if you get cold feet or wet boots you can take that heater from inside and put in your boot. 5-10 minutes your boot is as new.

Ahh the famous SU-1 "Panzercracker" use it as a snack or an armor plate, your choice.
Edit. Fuel tablets is for coffee and just heating up water, for tea or whatever, everyone has their stainless steel cup to use with those.
Edit 2. The main meal comes in parts, so depending witch side you tore all the meat is either on top or at the bottom, i usually kind of just mince the packet around before heating it so the stuff in side mixes a bit, doesn't matter if you squeeze it out in to your metal cup, but i usually go straight out of the packet since its less cleaning up i usually try to pre-mix mine, also right away after the heater done its job and its piping hot i crush 2 of those crackers in to the main and let it sit for like 2 minutes, they soak up all the juices soften and become really nice.
Edit 3. I have had American rations, and have to say, ours its more or less (yes everyone has preferences) are the same quality, you are neither too stoked or too sad whichever you get, American ones are a huge lottery, some are excellent (and i don't know if those are still the same ones i had in my day) like the chilly and macaroni, but don't even approach me with that fucking omelette shit, that stuff is nasty.

It's a cultural thing... Complaining is like a "sport", a "competition". It's called "bedavotis" "bedavojimasis"...
it's like a family diner, where people "compete" on "who has it worse than the others"... the winner - is the loser, and is supposed to deserve "love and attention" more than others.
I don't know where it comes from. But it is a phenomenon... It's like a form of "therapy", where everyone gets to say what is hurting them... and the others are "supposed to care and show compassion"... "help solve the problems"... A large chunk of the culture in the region is very pragmatic - doing what needs to get done.
If there is no problem - there's nothing to do. Just... "a constant push to improve".

Plastic cutlery is banned in most of Europe, but spoons are biodegradable and way better than basic plastic. In Europe, we call this innovation. Also, there is a huge difference between food quality and value in the USA, Britain, and the Baltic states. I remember when I moved to the UK, I bought a roasted chicken and ate all the chicken, and it was like... it's like eating at McDonald's, with zero value. In Lithuania, I got one chicken leg, and I felt like I had eaten. Americans are extremely spoiled...

Lithuanian here. I served in a military 2020-2021 (and currently), and I can confirm our MRE's are very outdated, depressing and very poor, most soldiers hate them. I remember mixing powder drinks into 1.5-2 liter bottles in barracks, throwing everything else except main meal in pockets and just eating when walking when I'm REALLY hungry. Main meal may look tasty at first, but the more you eat them - the worse they get, and in the end you can't even look at them. The only good thing you can make from the ration - mix hazelnuts, honey, chocolade and crackers in a zip lock bag, and you'll get a desert which we call a sloth (🦥). I ate different USA MRE's and they're like a dream compared to our MRE's. But yeah, it is what it is - it will help you get calories when you need it, but it won't be super tasty..

Problem with USA MREs you also get bored, i got bored, what they got going is variety, but it always left this after taste of i dont know some chemicals, either flavor boosters, or what not. Lithuanian ones do have more natural flavor, and what you need is usually some peper and salt and it brings it back, to decent. Lithuanian ones lack in variety vs USA ones, in US ones you essencially you get one proper meal, a different one each time, with lithuanian ones i remember it was some sort of porridge with one type of meat and crop.

Gero apetito! 😊
