I got to interview Paul in 2005 in Stockholm before their gig at Debaser Medis. He was reserved as is him, but really made an effort to answer my silly questions. Funny that he still thinks “not even jail” is one of his favourite lines. I asked about his lyrics about water and seafaring, but didn’t get an analysis. I’ll always remember his answer to how Interpol builds their songs: “Well, Daniel plays something and I play something against that, and Sam does his drum pattern and it evolves from there .. and then we have Carlos”.
Love Paul. It's so nice to hear him speak on the discography and his writing process. Chills.
