    Dandelions grow where the soil is compacted. They aereate the soil and add nitrogen. So does clover. As well, both flower and feed bees. Maybe don’t worry about them so much.

      I agree, dandelion, clover and crabgrass grow best on compacted and improperly treated soil because they are not demanding plants like grass.. I also have bees and a whole field of dandelion and acacias. Excellent homemade honey. I have lavender for bumblebees, they love it. These are just small pieces of lawn that people want to have for themselves. Otherwise, it is impossible to eradicate it in nature, it spreads very quickly. The worst thing for bees is spraying fruits and vegetables with pesticides, which mostly kill entire bee swarms. And without them, the world would stop through several years. Thanks for watching 🐝🌱

    So glad you are doing this manually. So the sugar on the soil and then water right away will keep the ants, dandelion and weeds away for how long?

    • @organickulture
      @organickulture  Рік тому +6

      If you immediately water the sugar after sprinkling it on the grass, you will not have "too many" ants than usual. Otherwise, they are unavoidable in the eco system, but also useful. This will last as long as you use sugar with organic fertilizer.
      Sugar is an excellent fertilizer for your grass if you use it with organic fertilizers in combination. Weeds will not disappear overnight, but sugar will eliminate them over time in a natural way. Switching from chemical to organic fertilizer is a process, but over time you will notice that there are no weeds and that the grass is much healthier. In addition to that, of course, airing, seeding, removal of dead grass, etc. is necessary. You will see the result in one of the following videos, best regards 🌱

    @organickulture thanks for those great informative videos! instead of sprinkling the sugar and the watering it. Would it be possible to mixe it with water and spray it over the lawn and have the same effect? If so, would you suggest any dilution as gram or kilograms of sugar per liter of water? Thanks 🙏🏻

    • @organickulture
      @organickulture  11 місяців тому +1

      @rogeriowcarvalho Honestly, I'm not sure about the effect that way, but it should have the same effect. The only thing I'm thinking about is that the sugar would reach the plant and not just the root. It certainly doesn't bother the plant, but it would be more tempting for ants. In that case, I would do it before the rain so the sugar does not stay on the plant. I put approximately 100 grams of sugar per square meter. For 200 square meters of lawn, I put 20 kg of sugar. If I were to use that method, I would put 1 kg of sugar in 10 liters of water. That is the mixture for ten square meters. Try applying it on a small area first, it only takes 5 days to see all the effects. In case of accumulation of ants, water the treated surface well. Thank you very much for your engagement and best regards 🙏🏻🌱

    Need to water the lawn right after putting down the white sugar? What is the nutrient it is giving to the lawn? Making it greener etc?

    • @organickulture
      @organickulture  Рік тому +2

      That's right, your lawn will be a beautiful green color.
      Sugar is one of the natural fertilizers for the lawn that encourages the grass to take nitrogen from the soil, in this way weeds are eliminated over time.
      It feeds beneficial bacteria, insects and other bugs, it is easy to apply, it is cheap, neither children nor animals will have allergic reactions, which is often the case when special chemicals or other types of fertilizers are applied. Sugar will also strengthen the grass and at the same time "discourage" the growth of weeds.
      The advice is to sprinkle sugar on the lawn several times in the first year of use, because it will take a long time to clean the artificial fertilizers from the soil and to restore the good bacteria.
      You don't have to take care to spread it evenly everywhere. You don't have to worry about excess sugar burning your grass.
      When the soil and lawn recover, it is enough to do it twice, in the fall and in the spring.
      Best regards 🌱

    How does sugar work on creeping Charlie?
    Is it the flower or the leaves/plant of the dandelion that are beneficial? Should you remove the flowers before cutting the lawn?

    • @organickulture
      @organickulture  Рік тому +4

      Creeping Charlie needs a lot of nitrogen like other species in the grass. Sugar will deprive it of nitrogen in such a way that it will force the grass to look for and take all the nitrogen in the ground, and over time it will also disappear. Creeping Charlie is also healthy to use, but older and raw leaves are not completely non-toxic!
      Due to the active substances, some people should not use those herbs.
      Before using them for medicinal purposes, be sure to consult a doctor!
      Dandelion leaves contain: vitamins A, C, K, B and E, iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium.
      First, remove all the species from the lawn that you don't want, then mow, sprinkle with sugar and water well. Kind regards.

      I assume that you don't manage to take out the dandelion while the flower is yellow, that is very important. When it forms a crown (which happens the next day when you see a yellow flower) then it is too late because then it reproduces. Sugar will certainly suppress it, if not completely eradicate it. The first year, sprinkle the lawn with sugar every month until late autumn, the next year less often, and the third year only in spring and autumn. First mow, then sprinkle sugar and be sure to water after sprinkling. Kind regards.

    Hello, how does sugar affect weeds. What's the ingredient in it ?😮
    I have an orchard, I am thinking of applying it against weeds but I would not like it to have any bad effect for the trees. ( The trees are freshly planted)
    Won't the sugar increase the movement of ants and thus the incidence of aphids for example ?
    How much dosage per m2 do you recommend ?

    • @organickulture
      @organickulture  Рік тому +3

      Sugaring will discourage weeds if you apply the sugar and other treatments correctly.
      Weeds need a lot of nitrogen in the grass. The sugar will take away its nitrogen in such a way that it will force the grass to seek out and take all the nitrogen in the soil, and over time it will disappear as well.
      Don't worry about the trees, sugar is a natural fertilizer, I have also newly planted trees and once a month I sprinkle about 25 kg on 200 square meters. The condition for sugar to be most effective is if you use organic grass fertilizers.
      If you use chemical fertilizers, then the effect is not the same because there is a lot of salt in these fertilizers and a counter effect is created.
      Ants are inevitable, but there won't be more of them than usual if you sprinkle sugar and water the grass immediately afterwards. For an obstacle for tree ants that bring and store aphids due to honeydew, watch the video ua-cam.com/video/5FBNbKCfYGo/v-deo.html Best regards 🌱

      It is known that weeds 'prefer' poor soil because they can spread more easily in it, so sugar will therefore beneficially affect the eradication of clover and weeds. • @organickulture
      @organickulture  Рік тому +4

      Sugar is exactly the one that will kill all kinds of weeds, including thistle, which is even as healthy as dandelion, but I understand that it is not very popular in the lawn. All types of weeds and other species that appear in the lawn are due to the use of chemical treatments, exhausted and depleted soil, and these are ideal conditions for weeds. Keep in mind that it is not enough to sprinkle sugar only once, but a couple of times a year before it rains or before watering. Sprinkle several times the first year, and then reduce the second year. For the third year, it is enough to sprinkle sugar in spring and autumn.
      Sprinkle more sugar on thistle, its root is up to one meter deep and it is impossible to eradicate it in any other way (if you don't want to bring an excavator to the yard to remove it :D).
      Grass leaves require large amounts of nitrogen for best growth. Feeding your lawn with commercial (chemical) fertilizer provides nitrogen, but also adds excessive salt to the soil, which causes poor root growth over time. Sugar encourages grass roots to look for nitrogen in the soil and depletes nitrogen from the soil, in this way all weeds will be left without nitrogen and over time you will have a lawn free of weeds and other species. Thank you for your subscription, I will soon publish a video for the final natural treatment of the grass, which is the most necessary for strong and healthy grass. Kind regards.

    • @organickulture
      @organickulture  2 місяці тому +1

      It is necessary to apply sugar to the lawn several times. More sugar in places where there is a lot of clover. If your lawn is poor in regular fertilizer, clover will win again. Check your soil fertility and pH level. Is your lawn properly scarified? By fulfilling these conditions, sugar destroys the clover 100%.🌱

    Can I sprinkle white sugar on the crabgrass and clover so to kill them? Will white sugar kill weeds but attract insects?

    • @organickulture
      @organickulture  Рік тому +1

      Sugar should be sprinkled all over the lawn, and the best result will be if you use organic fertilizers for grass. Chemical fertilizers contain salt and for the first two years everything looks great. After a maximum of two years, weeds appear primarily due to salt, which is one of the components of chemical fertilizers. White sugar will not attract insects if you water the lawn well after sprinkling. There won't be more or less than usual. Test on a small area until you are convinced. Best regards 🌱

  • @radholm2628
    @radholm2628 Рік тому

    Sorry, i do not understand the mechanism how adding sugar helps the grass in the competition with already present clover?
    1) clover binds nitrogen from air
    2) sugar depletes nitrogen in soil by affecting microbial life to metabolise the nitrogen
    3) lawn grass need nitrogen to produce the green leafs and looks for nitrogen desperately in soil.

    • @organickulture
      @organickulture  Рік тому +1

      It is true that clover binds nitrogen from the air, but it is not sufficient or decisive. The main nitrogen is bound in the soil, and it is the sugar that forces the grass to take all nitrogen. In this way, the grass gets an advantage in strength and growth. If it is not mowed too low, the grass takes over and suffocates the other species on the lawn. Best regards 🌱

      Sugar will strengthen the grass and at the same time "discourage" the growth of all weeds. Sprinkle sugar on the lawn several times in the first year of use, because it will take a long time for the artificial fertilizers to be cleaned from the soil and for the good bacteria to return. When the soil and the lawn have recovered, it is enough to do it twice, in autumn and in spring. After sprinkling the sugar, water the lawn thoroughly.
