Melissa you are such a sweet person and your cover of these songs are amazing. I'm amazed at how much timing and feeling you can produce with just your acoustic guitar. You are a true pro !!! Iv'e been playing along with you and it's really helping me get the proper vibe of these songs. Thanks for posting them. Rob.....

WOW! You are so good, it's scary..I got out of radio programming in '84 but i kinda wish I'd stayed in it just so I could play your records. I'm going to hide now. Oh, you are hereby awarded the Golden Banana Award, the highest award in Chimpdom for a job done far beyond what mortals are usually capable of doing.

Neil Diamond was very talented.Beautiful voice! The problem was that he treated the ones he employed like dirt! My father in law worked security detail for him while he was on stage back in the day. Diamond would antagonize the crowd to approach him, then tell his security ," don't let them near me." Very controlling and narcissistic .He made life very difficult for people who worked for him.

I emceed several of Neil's shows in the 71-73 time frame and had many "stairwell conversations" with him covering a plethora of subjects, I watched him rehearse, work with his crews, and never heard an ugly word,or disparaging statement.from him, and he certainly NEVER antagonized the crowd. It was only after his Greek Theater triumphs did he feel confident enough to deviate even a.little from the script. One time, I accidentally introduced the comedian Albert Brooks as Anthony Brooks. Albert was furious...came storming up on stage sputtering and steaming. Neil very calmly said, "You know, his name is all he has." .I handed Neil a note the promoter had given me that said "ANTHONY BROOKS" on it and Neil said "I'll take care of it." I became, if not friends, at least conversational equivalents with Reinie & Linda Press (retired in 2015) and Dennis St. John (1941-2015). All three spent around 45 years with Neil, Reinie playing bass, Linda singing back-up and Dennis, the music director, playing drums. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't stay with a guy for forty-five years if he's mean spirited, denigrating,, or mentally unstable (as is the condition you specify). I used to program radio stations - large ones, powerful enough to drain the cooling pond in thirty-seconds--so I know what it's like deal with prima-donas, egotists, and people on power trips. I saw none of that in my brief stint as guest announcer. Your father-in-law must have had a reason for telling you this stuff. If he wasn't used to the mechanics of putting on a concert, or "working" an audience, it can all see quite surreal. Neil made a big transformation after Hot August Night; he became more relaxed, he reignited his sense of humor, and, in short became a confident entertainer. Up until them,, audiences terrified him.

Interesting that some of his band members stayed with him for 40 years! This is the first negative thing I've heard about his treatment of people.
