I spoke to an Apple representative who recommended me not to leave it attached unless needed, as it may keep draining your iPad's battery and slightly shorten your Pencil's lifespan

Agree, this happened to mine. I experimented my ipad pro m2 11 for a day while the apple pencil attached. The result is the ipad's battery is drained almost 40-50%

You’re right, I did the same thing and they suggested not to do so.

I'm calling BS on this one. My first second-generation Apple Pencil stayed on my iPad for over a year, and the battery went bad. When I went to Apple, they told me that the Pencil should not always be attached to the iPad for charging unless it needs to be charged for use. When not in use, the Pencil should be placed off to the side and allowed to go to sleep until needed again.

i've buyed a second hand pencil 2 at a very low price (fortunately), but battery seems to be dead i've tried all tips, and in last hand trying to warm up the pen on a heating system but still not working, so as an advice always pair up the pencil even if it's drain the ipad battery, but still it's definitely a design problem...

Don’t keep your Apple Pencil attached to iPad all
The time. !! It will ruin Pencil
      As will iPad !

One thing I have found useful is that u can keep the apple pencil docked to your ipad but you can turn off the bluetooth that way it won’t keep on charging and will not affect Ipad’s battery health

The charging process does not rely on Bluetooth connectivity.

It is such a strange design. I was wondering if it was safe if I stored my pencil the opposite way like pointing up? I bought a keyboard/case with a pencil slot and was wondering if it would harm the pencil or iPad battery if it’s not properly “docked”?
I read about how it can drain the iPad battery and I don’t want that to happen when I go to bed or to work

I used to do that however it caused extreme battery drain. Wouldn’t recommend.

I never always docked, my pencil was not charged for 6 months, and it still has 100% battery 🤷🏻‍♂️ just make sure you disconnect the pencil, always charging you device can degraded the battery no matter how technologically advance it built

the problem is not in the apple pencil battery.
its the ipad battery that gets drained by keeping the pencil docked.
    look it up !

I also have this problem. Is this a common issue? I couldn't find any recent threads regarding this. Only back in 2018 when the 2nd gen pencil first launched. Apple pencil 2 tends to draw power continuously even after hits 100% charge. When this happens overnight my iPad pro 11 inch drops 10 - 15% in some days. Why isn't Apple addressing this with a software update?

@@Janakaprd When ur not using a piece of equipment and u keep it charged at all times, over time its draining more and more energy even if u dont use it (to keep itself at 100%). Just like the airpods, think about it. When you use your airpods to lets say 60% and then you put them back in the case to charge, they will charge to 100%, then they start maintaining them at 100% which keeps using more and more battery from the outlet (in this case the airpods case) until the case's battery runs out. With ipad and apple pencil its the same, when ipad is at 100% and pencil is at 100% and you leave it on and u come back 3 days later the ipad's battery might have decreased drastically bc 1. its charging the pencil continuously to keep it at 100% and 2. the ipad itself has been on and functioning all this time. Makes total sense to me tbh.

    • @Janakaprd
      @Janakaprd Рік тому +2

@@nickyglasses8091 I know it has to be maintained. But it consumes too much and also not consistent either. sometimes if you are lucky you will loose 3-5% over night. sometimes 8-10%.

i think the solution would be to have a case that can separate it from charging, but i still didnt find the perfect one,
I tried many but tbh with my pencil sleeve...i made it harder for me lol
but i guess for now the perfect one would be a solid case which have pencil area but not in the charging place but in the other side of the ipad

If the apple pencil 2nd gen is already full, and still attached to iPad, will it decrease the battery life of the iPad itself?
