Yo! It's Made By Mitch time!!! Great build man! My favorite finish for hardwoods is Arm-R-Seal from General Finishes. If I'm doing stain, I like their lineup of gel stains. I'm finishing up that farm table from IG and I'm going to spray it with Enduro Clear Poly, also from GF.
Thanks man! I've never used anything from General Finishes. I'm totally checking them out now though. Thanks.
@@MadebyMitch the only problem is they don't sell it at any big box stores. I get mine from Woodcraft or online. 🤷🏼♂️
Yea that stinks. 😕
Hey I have a question how much was it to make? And how much weight can it hold?
@@MadebyMitch plz answer my question
I normally don't comment on videos, but the production level on this is unreal. Hugely underrated channel
Thank you very much!
I would add my voice to this sentiment. Great video.
My wife started working from home I’m going to make this it’s perfect!
Great! Good luck making yours!
Lovely
When you made this I bet you didn't think you'd be helping people through this pandemic
Richard Mouat ahahahah
Very true! But I'm glad I can help.
This is why I’m here. Forced to work at home and there are no desks anywhere 😭
Celeste .Alvidrez lol
Exactly what I was looking for as a noob trying to build the first ever project!
Just finished my second desk…watched this video about 50 times! Thanks for the tips. Great video. This was my first woodworking project of any kind.
damn i need a dad like you so we can just build everything ourselves and not spend a lot LOL!
The dowel thing was cool, especially that you made your own jig but I’ve made workbenches like this and the glue alone would’ve been more than enough unless you’re really pounding on it. Also when you did your dowels and ended up not quite even on the ends, you can make what’s called a storyboard which is just a piece of cheap scrap wood and you make your marks on there and then you clamp that to your Mainwood where you’re going to drill the holes that way the holes come out the same on every piece of wood. With this design it would be really easy to make some slide out drawers underneath too. Your cross brace could’ve also gone all the way to the back so it didn’t hit your knees, and could’ve also been used to put a screw into a stud on your wall so the desk wouldn’t move it all and was more like a built-in.
Thanks Shane! I appreciate the feedback and input. The storybowrd sounds like a more accurate idea. I also like the idea of the cross brace being more towards the back. Again thanks for the feedback!
I like the white stain. Very subtle. I love simple designs. I think people would enjoy a dowling jig video for sure.
Thanks Tony! Im definitely considering the dowel jig vid.
Made by Mitch I've seen them in the past. You're audience would dig it! Getting closing to 1,000 subs buddy! You're awesome!
Thank man! I appreciate the constant encouragement from you. You're awesome.👍🏻
I love the tip about using white stain to preserve the grain. I had never heard of doing that before.
I hope this guy gets back to posting videos. These are gold
Wonderfully simple and good looking project. If you're a finisher, a router around the top will make nice rounded edges too!
I also like to use Tung oil as a finisher as it doesn't change the color of the wood and brings out the wood's character.
Nice work !! Pls share the dimensions of this table .
I really like this white finish. Looks good.
Now this is what I want. Clean and simple
Definitely like the white finish, gave it a really clean look!
Thanks Joseph! I agree, the white gives it a clean look for sure. 👍
That’s an awesome desk! I want something just like this but with drawers. My dad is gonna help me make one because the ones in stores just aren’t what I want.
Oh my GOD Dude you are awesome!!!! Thank you!!!!!! I need to make a simple desk for my daughter for her Online School work she is now doing and wanted her to have something legit for her chromebook and have space to do Any writing. Right now she is using a TV food tray in her room but I want her to use something better and the desk onlinr are just either too small or too big for the spot I need it at. What you did here is perfect and I will do my best to make one for her using your video as a guide. Thanks again. 😭🙏🙇♂️
Love how this came out!! Wish I had the tools to do this!
I have been a little nervous I always wanted to get into woodworks and I am excited to try this. My first time ever trying to build something
You make amazing things
I watch you when I make things
Useful tip I learned when using square and circular saws cut slightly behind the line you draw and your cuts will always be the same size unless you have a slimmer blade
I was your 2000th sub! Lol great desk thanks for the ideas!
Yay! Thank you so much for subscribing! I appreciate it.
Thank you very much for your idea That's very good and very clear the way you speak and explain thank you
I need u in my life lol I like building benches and tables 😂 I’m trying to build a desk now so will see how that goes 🤪🤪🤪
Good luck building the desk! 👍
Definitely going to get my hubby or son to make me this desk for my new craft room! I love this finish. I’ve always been a fan of picked finishes. Thanks for sharing!
Very cool Shannon! I'm glad the video helped. 👍
Simply, smart, fast ✔️✔️
Good idea with the jig you made to keep your boards aligned while screwing in the pocket screws! I've had trouble keeping everything aligned like you were saying so
I will have to try this!
Thank you! The jig helped out for sure. I have done this on several occasions with pocket hols because the tend to move around.
Another underrated UA-camr. You deserve millions of subs bro 🍀❤️
Thanks Jack. I appreciate that!
Nice and easy!
I absolutely love this desk, you are awesome. It was so east to make. I will be following you. Thanks.
Thank you! I'm glad this worked out for you!
it is so simple but so nice and inspiring to do the same as you, thank you very much.
Great video. I love how accessible you make woodworking. My favorite finish is minwax wipe on poly. The advent of wipe on is a game changer when it comes to finishing.
dude,i love how humble and simple you are! great content!
Your skills are amazing and thank you for teaching us the best way to make a writing table by few steps.
Nice🥰learn something to new, I made a workbench last year & would like to finish with some type of finish - need to learn that too - thanks for sharing
Its simple and looks great
Favorite finish lol
Nice simple desk tho.
my fav finish is OSMO hard wax oil. Doesn't look like much, but it will protect your furniture from soda stains, cups being put on top etc... great for those who value a lasting finish more than aesthetics.
I will have to give that a try. It is always good have the extra protection. 👍
This looks beautiful 😍
Thank you!
Great idea for dowel jig, wish i had this a few projects ago. Great video
Thank you very much Nancy.
I like your works
Continue do cool things like what you did
Beautiful
Thank you!!
that should last a hundred years well done pal
Thank you Willie! I sure hope it lasts. 👍
you make it look very simple!
Dowel jig video for sure! Really like the white stain you used. I've been on a Danish Oil finish kick lately.
Thank you. I was happy with the way it turned out. Danish oil is my favorite! Especially on walnut.👍🏻
This is really cool I’m trying to make my own desk it’s a simple design but this made me rethink a little but great desk and great video
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment.👍
My NEW favorite finish is now white
Love the outcome- desk looks gorgeous. Cannot wait to make it. Thank you for uploading ☺ 🙏
Looks good. Was thinking about buying a long butcher block counter top and do something similar to make a modern looking computer desk
That would look really cool. Good luck!
Thanks for this video. I bought the plans for this on Etsy. This has inspired me to start woodworking. And I bought ratchet straps to help me too 😄👍🏽 thanks for the idea.
Love that clean look!
Mitch! At the moment my favorite finish is shou sugi ban and wax. It can be applied to some of my project but not all of them, due to the joinery used. I like the finish you used for this desk, I do the same with the stain - wipe it off straight away.
Very cool! I have yet to try shou sugi ban. I would like to soon though. Thanks for watching! 👍
Rawk on wif yo bad self Mitch. Also, thanks for the idea on the dowel hole jig. whoop whoop
Thanks Troy! 👍
I really like a walnut stain and poly.
Arm-R-Seal is an awesome finish.
I have never used it. I will have to give it a try. Thanks!
You deserve a lot more subs
Thanks Aztix!
Man I love your energy
Thanks Diego!
Thank you so much for all the tips, this video is so helpful.👍🏼🙏🏻
Yes, for the dowel jig video.
Gracias
I am goin to make the exact same thing tomorrow
You should do a burn finish I've done it to a few pieces and it comes out great
That's would look great on that piece. 👍
Really good desk man, thanks for ideas.
Desk looks great!
Thanks Dennis!
Nice and simple
So simple. So easy. So great!
Thank you so much Stephanie!
Great project! Thanks for the time to make and film it. Subscribed!
Thanks so much DIY Minded. And thank you for subscribing. 👍
Wow; great work!
Thanks!
Hi Mitch! I love DIY projects. Mostly I repair and refinish old pieces but I want to do more. I would like to have a wood working room. What are my basic essential starter tools?
Simple, but best👌👌
Thanks!
Bro this is really dope man. I wish i could buy furniture from you like the ones you make. That be dope bro😌💯
Thanks Rohan!
Subscribed from India 😊
i came back here because u did the best table so far. the color is super nice amazing. and your was the most easy to do but i want to find a board that 2 in thick 24 in width and 6 F long as i said before i am making a 52 inch long table stand for a 50 inch tv i will go with the same lags u did if i can find 24 in wide board to avoid joining the 2 pieces of boards together i still do not have pocket tools so will use a angle bar and paint it white to put the lags and use the same finish as u did on the wood
Gonna make one with a rustic finish. Thanks for the idea bro!
Awesome! Your welcome. I'm glad you got something from it!
excellent work. you have a great shed/workshop. might i suggest a "jig" for joining boards together. it involves using a couple of scrap boards and wedges. :)
Thanks Rok! I appreciate it.
I want to make this desk we are moving and want a desk in room but my mom doesn't really want to buy it so I thought I got make it and maybe ask my grandpa for help. I am 12 13in August 17 but still think I can make it. Love what you made.
I'm sure your grandpa could help you with this. Happy Birthday! (In August) 👍👍
Thanks
I literally can not accomplish this, but it looks so nice!
this... is... amazing... !!!!!
Love this! Thanks for the video!
Mitch: "Anyone can make this"
Also Mitch: (Proceeds to use tools and devices only accessible to few)
Nice man
Excellent!!gracias.
Thank you!
This is real nice dude. Great job. Definitely doing this but I'm going to make a pull out section similar to the IKEA malm desk. We have the same table saw too. Cheers.
Thanks Todd! That is a great idea to make the pull out section. Good luck with yours! Thanks again. 👍
this is what i need to make. but i do not have the thing to make pocket holes. and do not have a table saw, or a circular saw, i just have a drill, and some hand saws, 4 kinds. i mostly use the key hole saw. i had a jigsaw once but the motor burned up so because i do not have the thing to make pocket holes. i thinking of use small but thick L brakes but this video made me see that the lags need 2 boards width not just the top. also i thinking of adding a back panel to it to help with the support besides the cross bean but i am also considering using pipes for legs but i like this one with wide wood lags but maybe cost more for the wood CA, is expensive. 2 in. x 12 in. x 8 ft. Premium #2 and Better Douglas Fir Lumber
I am gonna do it 👌
Buen video amigo
Thank you for this video. I was wondering why you had to join two parts together when you could have used a wider plank and trim it just once?
Instead of making the boards longer you could always just measure the lines on each board simultaneously. So they match up. Would save time and wood
building with longer boards on wood-glue/dowel table-tops, eliminates errors completely; I saw so many woodworkers messing up in quite a few videos and many veterans making it a "must" to add cutting to the final size of the top as a step. There no point in saving time, if we messed up our woodcraft. It's art and art takes time to be perfected. ^^
👌👌👌👌👌👌👌nice one
Thanks bro!
👍👍 Thank you!
perfect brother
Thank you Syed!
Awesome! !!!
I might try this ...make it a bit bigger for a basic pc desk....
Thats a neat simple table! As of qotd, mine would be wipe on poly. Its kinda fool proof😂
Thanks! Yes wipe on poly is great 😂
je ferais le même modèle chez moi, merci pour l'idée, courage pour d'autre projets.
Very good
Damn this guy is good
Fantastic
Thanks Enrique!
