I am an old lady in a highrise and for some strange reason I love watching your channel. I would never want to be outside in that snow, but relaxing in my recliner I love watching YOU do it, lol.
Being from Norway I find it cute when he says "Today is extremely windy..." And then seeing the snow falling slowly to the ground. Nice trip, and great channel!
@@davidreed628 turn your own hearing aid up and listen to the news. We just set a new wind record here with 139mph winds. With Even harder gusts! That is extreme. What he has is a light breeze...
I've been an outdoorsman since around 1968 and have never lost the wonder of nature. More awesome than any game or TV show. It is in my bones and enjoy seeing myself in others. Luke, keep doing it as long as you can. Enjoyed the snowy lunch!
Thanks, Luke! Your video adventures out and about, in all weathers, allows me to go with you to places I can't go anymore! Your videos triggers the memories I am lucky to still have! Truly, a heartfelt thanks to you! ❤️👍✌️🇬🇧
Jay and Simon are the real 'extreme' winter campers i love watching yours is somewhat relaxing which is also good it's just like winter camping in your own backyard so nothing to worry
What I enjoy about Luke? He goes out into the middle of the woods, in snow, pitches a tarp. A TARP!? Make a cup of coffee, and smiles the entire time 😂
Just something about hot tent camping in a blizzard. Relaxing on the cot listening to the tent flap and fire, reading a book as the food boils in a pot on the stove.
Luke, thanks so much for the shoutout! It was an unexpected surprise. I watch all your videos nearly daily. Everything you do on here is great! Keep up the good work and thanks so much for helping my nephew get started. It has been very kind of you to promote his channel multiple times. On a side note, in some of your older videos it was cool to see you pass through Damascus. Starting back in 1998 I started going on the Creeper Trail almost every year. It’s possible at some point we may have crossed paths or at least paralleled each other near the Appalachian Trail.
I am a mountain boy myself and on that basis it is amusing for Luke to call this an area of FLAT land to camp on on this mountain. The photos show a 20 degree tilt but for mountain folks that is flat. I do enjoy your adventures Luke. You bring back the thrill on emotion of young to us old folks. As always great job.
You know, Luke. You complain more about the weather than I do, and I'm English. The weather is a daily topic of conversation here. I always look forward to the next installment from TOGR. Strength and Honour.
Hi Luke, your personality is what makes this channel special. Your reviews are great and I appreciate your honesty. I have bought gear based on your reviews. Keep up the excellent videos. Can't wait for the next one.
The look on Luke’s face on the front cover made me think now this is gonna be fun. I hope everything went well with your appointment the next day and I can’t wait to hear what it is. And if you’re skier, you do go spend time out in the bitter cold. Write down the mountain and eat lunch sitting outside. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve eaten lunch that way in the winter. But for some reason, I enjoy the quiet of Luke’s adventures more.
Sounds strange but I have watched your videos for the last 4 months to help fall asleep. Thanks! You’re not boring…just love the sound and note you’ve got the ASMR even better 😂
Love listening to your stories. Your so laid back. My favorite outdoor channel. You really love the outdoors, cause I can’t deal with the cold. The cold keeps u young for sure, but no thanks. Great job. Stay safe. 👍🏽🙏🏼
Bummer about no overnight, but I appreciate that you went out there and made a great video anyway! Looking forward to seeing whatever secret thing you're working on!
Nice but chilly day out in the woods for lunch Luke. I used to do this when i was a kid, many fond memories of hunkering down in questionable locations but if out of the wind, usually stayed dry and warmer. I'd find natural shelter and reinforce as best I could to get out of the weather. Quite good at it I'll admit as a tarp was unobtainable for me back then. Thanks for the video and shivers.
I always enjoy your videos Luke but what amazes me is the high standard of your editing! It must take hours to set up all your camera shots & it serves to make your videos so professional & interesting!
The weatherman these days are only using their technology expecting it to not fail, and it seems it fails 90 percent of the time around here.. Great video Luke and thank you for sharing.
Very good video thank you for the hard work and the excellent content! I look forward to your videos. The content you share is very informative and educational. Thanks again.
Glad you did this in the conditions and it was the day trip camp. So fun but safe. I enjoy your Thursday adventure videos very much. Yes, for the unaware, a six foot long Black Snake will startle you but it is a harmless to people snake. I saw several larger ones in Central Florida when we recently lived there.
Nice snow storm, we are getting fairly mild weather where i live in Ontario But so damp which goes to your bones. That coffee sounds delicious I like the pumpkin spice . and Love your hikes into the bush. Thanks Luke look forward to what you have planned for next video. watching from London, Ontario Canada.
I think you have had more snow where you are than I have in the UK for the last five years. Haha, great video, I love your spring thingy for the filter coffee.
some folks would think.... "that's weird, a guy out in freezing temperatures, drinking coffee under a tarp in the woods". yet here we all are, watching a video of Luke doing this and being completely entertained by it. 😂
I organize a backpacking group here in Central Oregon. This weekend I'm taking 8 newbies out snow camping for their first time. My writeup mentioned "new snow", "20mph winds", and "temps are nice, only in the mid 20's". A few took exception with the latter, and have bailed, leaving 5 evidently brave souls. Mid 20s are nothing--if you have training, wherewithal, and the right gear. A few other members chimed in saying sounds like fun (and they meant it). But to your point, there are folks that think we're nuts for going out in the white stuff.
Hello from Central Texas! My friend I have to say... Part of my mind says 'you done loss yo mind ' .....and then the other half just as quickly comes back with... 'been there, done that and envy you every minute! Im an old lady now with some very limiting health issues, but I miss the adventures of my youth. I find a peace watching you... Thanks for doing what you do! Be safe, watch for Squatch and Blessed Be to you and yours.
In cold weather when rehydrating, I add the water, close the immediately and then knead the bag to mix the contents. I then put in a down bag or coat to keep it warm. I put coffee in a thermos. Metal cups get cold fast.
I found this interesting, since a neighbor recently complained about the wx. He wants one big snowfall like we used to have. As he put it, "ya know, mountains of snow pushed up in parking lots that last a week easy!" I told him he'd have to go north of Indianapolis for that. I told him whats causing this 'oddity' for us anymore, but i don't think he wants to believe it. But it makes sense. And that's another reason why NWS cannot forecast accurately any longer. You were spot on abt prior forecasts they gave (Im abt 250mi NW of you). Another thing I took eye-opening note of was no predictions of snowfall depths in their forecasts now. Least up this way, and for 100mi radius. THIS phenomenon will be THE thing to gear up appropriately for going forward. A new journey awaits.
Great video Luke . I live in South Wales , I worked with a Russian man once who said he found it colder here in Britain than Russia because ours is a very damp climate , whilst in Russia the cold there is a very dry cold 🥶🥶 .
Great Video Brother. I was up in your area of the Mountains, on the 7th Jan. Woke up to 1 1/2 snow. Snow sure is Beautiful in the Mountains. First time in the mountains with snow. Spent most of time on my butt. Snowboarding isn't as easy as it looks. Cheers from Central SC.
Hi Luke!: Another excellent adventure! Gotta get me a trangia fuel bottle! So nice you can just walk out the back of your property and have an adventure!! So nice!
Hi Luke, thank you for sharing another adventure, the snow ❄️ looks so beautiful, I live in the southern hemisphere l don't experience snow like you do in your country 😊
Nice video again, Luke! One safety tip, and I am guessing you choose NOT to do this for the cool ASMR sound effect: When you heat water for a meal or for coffee, you ALWAYS put the empty container on the lit stove, and THEN add the water. I have seen beginners who do this knock the pot off the stove and pour water into the stove, fire or whatever on at least ten occasions. I am sure you are used to how fast your Nalgene bottles pour, but for anyone who is not so sure, always fill the pot BEFORE you put it on the stove. You will not get the cool hiss as the water hits the metal, but you might save yourself some grief, or even a fire in your tent,

" ... here is a flat spot..." Yeah, BUT! It is sloped at 20 degrees!! Ahhh, Mountains. The coldest I have ever been out was -10F, in a tent, in the ADK mountains. There was about 4 - 5" of snow. I threw one of my hand warmers in the 'cooler' chest to keep my food from freezing! No, no nice warm folding wood stove, either. 5 day Cold camp. S&H Jerry

Maybe you should go to a station weather department and educate them on weather forecasting. People would love you.
