Zack Bland I used to really dislike Alex’s drumming for awhile. Never sure why honestly. After watching the last couple videos of him here, he kills it!
@@AllanJ...Batmo365 Yeah that's a good mixing FOR METAL, as a producer I can say... that tipe of mixing its really hard to do specially when you don't use any samples
Alex is playing deep in the pocket here, amazing. Always a real treat seeing him play, nothing is out of place. This guy is the best in the game hands-down. The beat daddy.
Love how he makes most of this seem so easy.. like it’s the easiest most laid back track ever... try playing this!! It’s no cake walk😓 Alex has become my source of inspiration when I play. Keep the pocket and get creative without killing the double bass.. no need!! Such a beast!!
When Howard benson was recording Saosins self titled record. He talked about Their drummer Alex Lopez being “appropriately busy” meaning so exciting to watch but not taking away from the song with excessive parts. This guy is the epitome of that. Writes totally creative parts that add so much to the music.
This is coming from a symphonic deathcore/metal/worship drummer of twenty plus years the sheer amount of precision and fluidity that Alex show cases is absolutely immeasurable this takes years of dedication blood sweat and tears of confidence patience and drive when I left metal I had blood stains on my kit this guy is the real deal so underrated gospel chops in a musical metal prospective.
At a complete loss for words. The time signature change at the end?!?!???? NOT A WORD OF A LIE - I played drums at a gig this morning & accidentally started the song in the wrong time signature & couldn’t recover… THIS DUDE JUST INTENTIONALLY CHANGED THE TIME SIGNATURE, THEN SWITCHED BACK LIKE 4 SECONDS LATER🤯
Really neat how it starts in 7 with the synths then when everyone comes in it’s two 7s plus a 2 to turn it around (16) and make it fit into 4/4. Camarena really highlights the feel well while being complex yet accessible 🤘🏽
He goes hard during the last part of the interlude! Saw them live here in LA but couldn't really get a chance to see him drum since he was too far back but man he's just too good!
WillBurhans it’s very uncommon in this genre too. Usually the drummers just hit insanely hard all the way through. It’s refreshing to see this style in metal.
NathanDrums exactly dude. there’s literally no other drummers who play like this in the metal genre. a freaking gospel drummer in a metal band. like this guys musicality just completely destroys every single other drummer in the metal scene.
godDAMN this is so good. I watch this on repeat. I don’t even know how many times I’ve watched it now, like hundreds. This mix is so good I literally blast it in my speakers in my truck while driving and it doesn’t even sound “live”.
the thing that stands out most about this guy is he is not much of a double bass player, most metal drummers use double bass a lot that's what i love about this guy!
One of the most satisfying drummers to watch, his chops are so tight.
way to predictable to me.
Zack Bland I used to really dislike Alex’s drumming for awhile. Never sure why honestly. After watching the last couple videos of him here, he kills it!
Absolutely ! Its a pleasure to watch !
@@colins1358 :D :D I'd hate to hear your drum track writing... Drum track writing is about enhancing the song, not yourself. This guy NAILED that.
I'm a big fan of some flashier guys. (halpern, gartska) but something about his restraint really does it for me.
The drummer, This kit, And whoever mixed this did an amazing job.
Mixed by Chris Ghazel
indeed! 👍
I agree mix is sick
Kidding? The Kit sounds dead... Muted, mixed to complete clicks and thuds....

Alex: starts going hard
Snareweight: aight imma head out
He totally merked it at the end of the Trilogy video 🤣
one of THE most underrated drummers out there. Epitome of pocket, intensity, groove, emotion, and precision.
For sure! He’s one of my favorite drummers to watch.
cleanest ghost notes on the scene!
Agree ...
Camarena is one of the cleanest drummers in the scene.

That snare pop is cake
Just delicious sound off that snare mmmm
if it sounds like popcorn your doin somethin right
Holy balls. That was amazing. He’s not even playing, he’s like breathing life into the sticks. EPIC!
This dude has some of the most beautiful ghost notes👌
I agree. 👌🏼
This dude keeps a tight groove and solid pocket. Not overplayed and his dynamics make sense for the song. Dude is a beast.
At least once a week I go back to watch this video.
@@Breno746 Thank you for your service. 🙏
That added ending they did on this tour is something else, Especially in person.
Remo, Meinl, and SJC should really be emptying out their accounts for these videos
Christian Baumgartner I could be wrong but doesn’t it look like he’s using a Evans emad on that second floor Tom to the left?
@@dorseydorsey7770 He is. Gotta get that PHAT low end with that gong drum
Dorsey Dorsey Yup! I saw them live in KC back in February and that floor Tom is also actually a Crush drum too, which was interesting.
Dorsey Dorsey Remo pinstripe with snareweight m80
Dorsey Dorsey and the second tom isnt a tom. It’s a SJC UFO. And indeed with an EMAD

Beat daddy. That KILLED ME
Him and nic petter from Northlane have so much feel and groove. Hands down best drummer in metalcore.
I'd throw Dan Searle and Dan Furnari in there too
Liam Hawkes eh, neither of them really compare to Alex pocket wise.
Liam Hawkes tbh they don’t rly have that groove and feel that Alex and nic have.
I fully agree man! They're my two fave drummers!
LOL what about Chris Turner from Oceans Ate Alaska and Matt Greiner from August Burns Red?

Nate Staggs the guy has produced some amazing sounding records for sure.

It's nice to see a drummer actually feel the music he's playing. Dude rips.
The snare off section is so smooth and melodic. Loved it front to back!
Thanks for watching!
0:58 everything about that ride is amazing. I love how it opens up when you wash it.
I could watch/listen to this man all freaking day.
I come back to this video so often. It's so good!
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely out of this world 🤯
Silent Planet is awesome. Seen them 3 times in Atlanta through the years
Isildur You’ve probably been at some of the SP shows we’ve filmed then. 🤘🏼
@@drummersanonymous same! any chance you guys will post or share more of this set? last concert before quarantine... it was amazing

My dude is so smooth on the kit. Love this band!
I have watched this many, many times. And I play guitar.
That part when he turn the snare wire off is just breathtaking, it’s so goodddd
Underrated song as well. I wish this one got the credit it deserves
That extra dry crash almost whispers!
I don’t listen to Silent Planet but I watch every video you guys put out on this drummer cause he’s fucking amazing. Love watching him play!
He is such a great drummer and this whole band really knocks it out of the park on every track ❤️
G.O.A.T That interlude needs to be recorded!! Unreal.
Feel...play...experience... the world of drumming.
I want this live show as a track on spotify asap, it never gets old
That interlude is something special. I’ve always wanted to hear Flam Daddy go off on a song. 💆🏾♂️
That metric modulation after that triplet fill at 5:47 is to DIE FOR
Alex is very good at throwing in prog stuff here and there, without losing groove. So sick.
He is so nice. cruel, sharp, wise, tender, beautiful, THE PERFECT DRUMMER. Respect
Fuck this guy is amazingly tasteful. To even get to a fraction of that feel for the music...
I can't stop watching this. Hope I get to see this man play live someday. Incredible
My man‘s lost some weight!! Lookin so fresh!
Was about to make a comment about this too! Alex is an inspiration to me being in a bigger guy too! So happy to see him shred some weight!
