  • Snapshot of a deadly and simple technique that is catching crazy numbers of walleye for us back home on Devils Lake right now.
The new Eye-Candy Riggin Leech is an elastic plastic that has better action and floats. This particular profile and action is perfect for using with bottom bouncers and spinner harnesses.
Follow the outside of the defined weed edges which typically run between 7-12 feet of water. Run an ounce and a half bottom bouncer and shorten up the snell to about 30-36 inches for fishing through weeds. Nose hook the Eye Candy Riggin Leech and run the harness at faster speeds between 1.3 to 1.8 miles per hour although faster speeds yet can sometimes work well.
As this water continues to warm up and we see more stain in the water from algae blooms and wind, the thump of a deep cup Colorado blade on the harness seems more important.
By replacing traditional live bait like crawlers and leeches with the Eye Candy, you can increase your efficiency. The colors can be changed, you get better lift on the harness and a subtle, undulating action that triggers fish. These baits are durable where you can catch several fish on one bait and stay on the hook much better than traditional live bait.

Great vid! Besides hungry wallies, trolling the weed edges with this rig will grab you up some nice bass, crappie, and some pike.

Fun video, Jason. Thanks. What storage box are you using to store your plastics?

My colors don't look anything like the ones in the video. Mine are all mostly see-through and lack much color at all. A big disappointment for me fishing dirty Lake Erie. I'm sure they'd do well in cleaner natural lakes. Maybe I bought them too early and they already fixed this color issue?

@@JamesBondDZero7Mi6 they would work great on harnesses on Erie. There is a wide selection of colors. I like the brighter colors as well for Devils Lake.

Live bait on spinner rigs isn't really needed anymore with the plastics available today. Saves big time money on live bait you'd buy ordinarily...all kinds of plastics that mimic live bait really well. Great video.
