- Repairing EVGA NEX650G Power Supply which was sent to me by a member of PPG.
According to him the PSU suddenly stopped working and wouldn't turn on.
In this video, I am trying to thoroughly explain all the troubleshooting and repairing steps for the PSU so that if any one of you is having similar issues he/she would at least be able to figure out how to repair or get it repaired if they can't do it themselves.

That "boring theory" is pure gold. Never saw a block diagram that simple and didatic. Thanks for the video.
Finally, a tech UA-cam with some actual Electronics knowledge! I'm a electronics hobyist too, lub u bro
Thanks, really appreciate that!
I exactly have the same power supply with the same symptoms under my bed for 4 years guess now is the time for it to resurrect.
Thank you for the content.
One of the best UA-camrs who are actually helping people.
Much Needed Video man, cant thank you enough, my PSU died a few months ago and I cant buy another one..
Gonna try this out and update here 👌🏻👌🏻
wonderful work. keep educating people
u are really the guy that does everything
Thanks for the video. Even though I ordered a new one, that left me curious, same problem as described on the video.
It's a 5 year old EVGA 500W-B, it's been working close to 24/7 for years.
Just solder on a new resistor from an old Nvidia card.
Amazing bro, Keep up content like this.
Love your video man
keep up the awsome work
Thanks man!
Amazing voice, sounds professional,
We need this kind of UA-camrs in Pakistan.
Great video. Thanks for making it.
Saw this video. I'm happy someone from Pakistan is doing things like that. Also i wanted to add. As you wont find smd resistors in home laying around , you could use chromium resistors the one that have colors on it.
I’ve just come here because my pc was working a couple of days ago but just pooped itself so I’m now going through diagnosis. I have a EVGA 650 G1 supernova. I’m surprised they don’t contain successful power up indicator light that you can view from its mounting position in the pc case. Thanks for the video dude!
loved your work
good one. simple resistor fix. tip for others: use series lamp before starting the psu. mine blew up the mosfets the first time. then i used series lamp.
Same problem happens with my psu, now I will try to repair it with the help of your video.
really a very deep knowledge
amazing bro
Yo didn't know you could do this as well. Respect boi.
Thank you this was super helpful and I was able to fix my sons power supply.
great love from faddy :D all the way great content with great personality
I don't think that i have ever commented on youtube, but i just want to say thank you, i woke up this morning to the same issue PC energizing for a fraction of a second then shutting off, i removed the gpu and other cards to eliminate them and it stayed the same, so i teared open the power supply after i saw your video and i was sure it was the cause of my problem not other components however my resistor looked fine externally so i removed it to measure and it measured 10 ohms, i soldered it back on board and boom power supply is working again, i guess that it was a matter of a cold solder joint or loose one due to heat.
Thank you for sharing sir new supporters here
Thanks a lot
May God grant you good health
It really helped me
Nice video every time you upload I just click on it on your last vid I was watching my bro came and sit on my left and saw with me
Thanks for the video =)
really a cool job
im actually impressed
Great Work Bro, its really glad to see a Pakistani making such content
It's work thank you so much 🙏.
Amazing stuff as always brother.
Arsalan bhai my gpu is still waiting to make a visit :P
Ladies and gentle men we got him.
love ur vids
bhai u r a true engineer ! xD
It is so sorry that a pro like you don´t have all the tools he requires, hot air station, fume extractor, microscope etc. I wish you succes.
What’s the hot air thing he talking about? Like a hot air gun thats a necessisity to repair an iPhone by heating up the glue that keeps the screen on and forms the waterproof seal??? I just managed to get a real hot air gun and my gosh does the air gun make a difference. I could literally start a fire in seconds with the heat directed at a piece of printer or news paper. First time i used it on an iPhone i freaked out when i had it aimed a bit too close the the front screen and it looked like someone spilled a cup of coffee under the glass from all the pixels heating up but luckily it went away pretty quickly. When I touched the iPhone, almost burnt my hand. Before I got the hot air gun I went from pissing my wife off big time to making very happy because she was a hairstylist and I just started off. Didn’t have her dream blow dryer yet and then I kept sneaking in every so often when I would have to repair someone’s iPhone screen and steel her hair dryer and I always forget to put it back so what I did was find out what the best model blow dryer. I could buy see if it was better or similar to the one that she wanted and found out that it was actually much better and more expensive. I bought her a ceramic blow dryer from top-of-the-line imported from Europe manufacture when I got to using hers just for fun, one time to do a repair to see how much different it was from the non-ceramic old one that she happily traded me for I realized how good the ceramic one was so I upgraded her again, she got a new ceramic and I got the old one did two different and I think that blow driers are much safer options if you’re dealing with anything like an iPhone or putting on heat shrink tubing. This almost sounded like he was talking about soldering with hot air. I’ve never done that before if anyone can explain that to me I’d appreciate it.
Awesome Content
Awesome video bro ❤
Thanks bro :)
Ye to very nice repair hai ❤️
I liked and subscribed.
The PSU you repaired originally belonged to me.
The repair was very impressive!
I have a Faulty GPU and I have been looking forward to seeking advice from you for its repair. I'll inshallah get in touch soon.
Thanks.
Interesting video man :D
Yes
really need that kind of videos for dell T3500 and graphic cards
Exellent sir😊😊😊
Thanks for the vid. I got broken psu lying around so I just bought another online ... that one is broken too. You may have just given me the confidence I need to try and repair them. Already noticed one of them has 3 broken capacitors in it, hoping replacing them solves the issue on one of the psu's ... would be nice to save a 650watt Zalman semi-modulair psu. thanks!
Great work bro 👍❤️
People think repaired stuff is bad but it depends on how much of a repair u did.. in this case it was a resistor so u can say it good as new .. nice fix jani
Yup that's true, but the problem is that we won't know which part has actually been repaired and how severe the fault was at the first place, so buying used/repaired PSUs aren't really a good option unless you are certain about its condition.
@@GuyThatDoesEverything true mate
Same video of a GPU will be amazing!
Love you bro
Thanks to you I fixed mine same I thing is cowmen problem
Nice Boss
I learned something!
Excellent video! Helped me fix my broken psu, which had exactly the same fault!
Glad it helped!
very helpful
Love you bro❤️
Thanks bro!
My PSU fan spins slower than usual, I think it's really the problem that my computer won't POST. Thanks for the video brother
Guy that that everything
When I see this video I set your name
Guy that fix everything 😁😁😉
love dude
Dude, look at you with your cheap a$$ multimeter doing better than me with my Fluke. Thanks for the help, because I am going to need all the help I can get.
Good on you for warning people of the danger of the capacitor as it is literally a stun gun in the shape of a battery. I would argue that is unnecessary and even dangerous as you cannot accurately predict when the capacitor will fully discharge by just leaving it. I have no formal electrical training but I’ve worked in IT for 20+ years, built bitcoin mining rigs . I’m still not sure which is more difficult , designing a proper multi device rig or designing the power requirements and installation of a proper data Center, but they both share very similar requirements and dangers except with a data Center the big power source that could turn up to crisp is mainly located in the electrical utility closet or wherever the main power is fed into the building. Typicallly after that it’s split off safety into recepticles and no surprises there. But designing a bitcoin or any kind of crypto rig involves setting up multiple dozens of power supply units just like the ones in this video actually quite often higher I had them usually in the 700 800 W range for ant minor I even had a 1000 W PSU in one unit, which of course had a back up decided it so 2000 W power supply that if anything short out that capacitor or if you open it up to do a repair cause when you’re doing this mining stuff you have to save every penny literally so you’re not you’re not taking your power supply it geek squad to get it fixed you do it yourself and there are a lot of those capacitors. The best way to repair one is disconnect. The power completely you can count to five, wait 10 minutes or wait an hour. Waiting an hour is probably the safest but you still don’t know that that capacitor probably still has most of its charge in it. They’re designed to hold a heavy charge. So unplug the power cord from the PSU and if it’s connected to a computer even better because then you have an on button to push just push the on button you’ll notice that after you unplug the cable if your computer has an ethernet cable in the back of it, just watch the ports on it they stayed lit up for like a good 5 to 10 seconds in some cases or the motherboard often has a green light showing that everything‘s OK and powers flowing through it. It will stay lit up for several seconds, that’s those capacitors. It’s hooked up to a computer. You’re actually slightly safer because they sort of drain them, but the best way to do it regardless of if it hooked up to a PC, Or just open in front of him like that is pull the power cord turn on the supply however, you can so short the cable if it’s not plugged in a computer or rig and keep it shorted for a few seconds that should be enough to discharge all of the remaining power inside the capacitor. Then to be safe, you can use a multimeter to test the capacity for any amperage of voltage in it. It should register basically 0.
OP ♥
Nice that was helpful. Can you help me fix my issue. I've got homage ups I set one connection for PC so if main power cuts then I can properly shut down my system but when main power cut down my PC don't stays on, it turn off and then turn back on. What do I do? It's thermaltake smart series SE 530w. I bought in 2016. Do I need to recap capacitors of PSU . Or change UPS relay?
Hi, my question is about the spare parts is it hard to find a new smd resisters????
Gg man🙌🏻🙌🏻💙
You are a expert technician. I have also a troubled power supply which run fine until game is played. At that time computer is shutdown. What could be the reasons. Thanks
Can we place this psu in any ordinary casing for example the hp and dell towers?
Assalamoalaikum Love You Very Much!
Thanks!
BIG FAN
Afternoon. I have a EVGA 500W. When I jump it, the fan works, just that it is not powering on. What other suggestions do you have?
my metal frame keyboard sometimes give me light electrical shocks do u think its psu or something else ? psu power input is connect to a socket with earth connected
If I don’t have a discharge resistor should I just wait a day to be safe then open up the psu n check the capacitor?
Plz make a video on the new prices of gaming pcs plz and ur vids r helpful
bro good content
can u make a video on gpu fix
lez goo waiting for some mobo xD
How big resistor use for discharging the HV capatitors?
what's the process of sending you psu for repair. I've the infamous vs550
is there a good keyboard in 10 or 12k budget
Maybe even a refurbished branded keyboard but i don't know where to get refurbished products
Apko dekh kr engineering krrne ka dil krrta bhai
Good to know :D
Just do what you love the most. As a matter of fact, I did Software Engineering which is complete opposite of electronics but this is something I learned on my own because of my interest/hobby.
@@GuyThatDoesEverythingthe dedication ❤️
Nice. I have a 1kw here that needs some love.
'cept I don't even get fanspin :(
Hopefully mines this easy to fix..my 550w not cutting it..
bro ,tell me the best graphics card under 15-18k for graphics designing like adobe premier pro and adobe after affects support?
@guythatdoeseverything 9mins :07secs - Are you sure that FSB6601 switches the 'secondary transformers' because those coils you point to are not transformers, they are the output inductors, which are responsible for removing ripple/high frequency noise and giving a stable output voltage, together with the output capacitors. They don't need 'switching' in any sense. Nice repair though. The FSB6601 is either the PWM controller for the main power supply rails or it is a voltage comparator (probably a quad differential comparator similar to LM339). You didn't mention the part number of the other 20 pin IC so there is not enough info to say for sure.
Five gold stars!
what size was that smd resistor is it a 0805: 2mm x 1.25mm?
my NEX750G has also this resistor blown up, this could happen again right? was it a cheap resistor or was there too much power going through it?
King
Please tell me that from where to buy bloody j95 in cheap price please
Hey, my cpu stopped working after my power randomly shut off and i did the trick u showed at the start and the cpu worked, same as some fans in my pc and i dont know what to do now, reconnect the cable and hope it will work or what cause i got no idea
I have the same with my miner power supply ,commutation 2000W, 220V, pour asic antminer, Ethereum S9 S7 L3, alimentation graphique ETH ZCAS miner MAX, 2400W . Is there anyway to fix it without opening the supply
Do you do repairs in Karachi? I have a PSU with a similar issue!
Gracias por la guia, pude arreglar una fuente que compre rota por internet
Hi @GuyThatDoesEverything,
can you help me please? I have new PSU 1600w, it was running for 1,5h with 150W. After that it turn off and he is doing same thing like your on the start of this video. He is running for 1s. I checked all things, but there is all ok and nothing is burned... I am so lost. Do you have some idea what I can check?
Thank you for your time.
Have a nice day
Good repair . How do you trouble case where power supply shuts down immediately after power on if the supervisor chip is shutting down the PSU . Can you stop the supervisor chip shutting down the PSU so that the PSU remains on so you can trouble shoot the problem . What is interesting is to show techniques to trouble different classes of fault
2nd bro big fan
plzz make a review of asus x507uf laptop
My Corsair VS550 blasted, will this fix work with it??? Please Help
i need that knowledge u have
I also have a same problem in my power supply 1650watt how can I contact with you thank you?
Assalam o Alaikum, Arslan bhai kindly tell us about your equipment that what you have and what you had?
GOOD
Good job! I have a RM850X by Corsair, and have a problem when I started the system, dont during few minutes on and the system shut down... I will follow your instructions to repair the psu... any news, i will back here! Ty bro ..
Hi bro , my brother have a pc which is
R9 3900x
32gb ram
B550 Aorus Pro AX
GTX 1080
and the psu is that same one , so he was working normally on the pc but in sudden it just turned off with sound of electric shortage and it just kept restarting , he took the pc to the same store that he bought the motherboard from , and they told him that the motherboard is dead because of the power supply , and they broke the socket when they wanted to take off the cpu , so is it the same problem that is showed in the video ?
I have 650P2 and I'm Islamabad, yesterday voltage was fluctuating and it seems overvoltaged.
At first sight I saw breaker tripped, then I tried with the tool for powering up PSU without motherboard, it was come with PSU. I tried with it to see if mine's fan also doing the same but loud popping sound with some sparkles happened.
Came here following my PC suddenly powering off and no longer booting - exactly the same PSU and symptoms will see what EVGA say first as still in warranty
