    Dude.... Not all heroes wear capes!! I mean, well, you might wear a cape... I don't judge 😅 Thank you for this video... I have the Kohler Pro CV16S which is basically the same engine setup you show and replaced the carb and it low idles great but high idle it has a very small surge. Will be checking the plate today. Thanks again 😊

    That lift is pretty cool! My dad finally let me mess with our old riding mower, and I’m trying to get some more speed out of it and add a pedal I can use for throttle, seems like not many people really do this sort of thing!

      The lift is for doing paint and body work! It keeps the body clear for panel replacement!

    While I found some useful information from your video, I have a couple of questions. What about the spring on the backside of the throttle plate to allow the choke to return to the open position after starting? And I see that you deleted your fuel pump, Why did you leave it open? I would think that you would lose oil like on a car engine with a mechanical fuel pump.

    I have almost the exact same mower, the 15.5 HP and am trying to get it to drive faster. For my mower, full throttle is in the middle, choke is at the top and idle is at the bottom. How fast should the engine be running in idle? And how do I measure the RPM’s? I don’t want my engine exploding on me. I understand the concept but its kind of confusing

    Pointer. Not trying to be rude but from a chemistry standpoint there really isn't any argument here.
    Synthetic oil has the same functional properties as conventional, however its more far more thermally stable and consistent. The engines are engineered for a certain weight oil and oil that has certain SAE and API specs. It does flow better an exasperate an existing oil leak on an older motor but otherwise there is zero reason to run conventional unless you're just trying to flip a vehicle.

      I have my own thoughts on the subject! Hey thanks for watching!

    I'll agree with you except for moving the plate down. By doing that you are messing with the spring tension for the governor. If you do mess with moving the plate, be sure to adjust the governor back to location. before running the engine. Which really defeats your reason for moving the plate. Those two screws holding the plate have thread locker on them so that they don't vibrate and move. and to deter people from moving the plate. Adjust the idle with the idle screw, that is what is it's. there for.

      The plate also has the slots in it for the adjustment! That's why there is elongated slots there! and that's how the Repair/Service manual says to do it! Thanks for watching!

      Gotta agree with TnT on the plate adjustment. The service manual does state to adjust the max RPM by adjusting the plate after the throttle cable is properly adjusted as TnT states. Where I found a difference with this video and my own CV15S engine is the plate moving up decreases rpm and moving it downward increases rpm. This is because more or less tension is applied to the governor spring.

    Great video!!!
    I have been driven crazy with my CV15S 15HP screaming at low idle since I swapped Carb and Linkages from my old Kohler that blew a conn rod. Place the replacement Kohler 15HP on , fired it up and it screamed high RPM. Immediately shut it off and looked for a sweet spot on that govenor shaft. Could not find it! Question: When you adjusted the govenor shaft conuter clock wise as the throttle plate was wide open, what was your throttle position? At low idle?

    • @tntautowerkz1809
      @tntautowerkz1809  Рік тому +1

      Fire it up and let it warm up and do the adjusting as its running! You will hear the sweet spot! But dont go by the way it sounded with the old carb as there was a reason you changed it! Also the two carbs may be internaly differant! The Thottle position was on idle,so low postion, Middle on mine is full then all the way up is choke!
