    What a great driving lesson !! Watched this video a couple days ago and went down to the indoor Trackman simulator at my club today to try it out. My first 6 shots with my usual swing were 205 -215 yds. After switching to the new swing, I was getting 247 - 258 !
    That is a great pick up of 40 yards. By the way I am 68 yrs old, so 250 yards is a big deal to me. Thanks for the instruction Ali. Have a great 2024 season ! from Canada.

    Good vid and I believe a spot on tip. Moe Norman, (arguably one of the best ball strikers in history) always positioned his driver a good 6-12 inches behind the ball. When asked why, "it helps me hit up on the ball" I've done it this way for years on a 9 degree driver and so far so good. Thanks for your informative content.

    I hit the exact shots he mentions both the low weak slice regularly and high push slice when trying to get it in the air. The explanation about the change in setup and lead leg push is exactly what I needed - now hitting high draws down the target line!! Thank you Ali!

    SLOW DOWN, Most Golfers don't have a Swing Speed over 100

      There has to be a willingness to feel a bit “out of control “. I’m currently in the process of really focusing on driver speed. My iron speed has always been fast enough. I’m mid 80s with a 7 iron and if I rip at it I’ve touched high 90s. My driver speed was just barely a hundred on good swings. After one trip to the range focusing on “staying back” and “driving my left ribs” I was noticing huge improvements. I went to the launch monitor today and had a bunch of 270-280 balls . Headspeed around 102-105 .Probably a legit 30 yds of distance gained. I think implementation of this video might unlock another gear. “Get back, stay back and fire the ribs” is the thought that seems to be working for me.

    I hit 348 total the other day with my Ping G410 (stiff shaft). Ball came off at 173mph but I can’t hit it consistently and can’t figure out why. I’ll hit a ball like that every 30-40 swings but for some reason I have a hard time maintaining it. I keep sitting consistently at 158-160 and it’s driving me insane because I know I can get more than that.

    I'm 66 and play to about a 3 hdcp. My average drive is 235 (as measured on a SkyTrak). My average clubhead speed is 96mph, give or take 1mph or so. Keep in mind, SkyTrak doesn't actually measure club metrics, it measures the ball only and uses algorithms to estimate clubhead speed. That being said, my miss is a two-way miss. I try to hit a draw but I routinely hit pushes and hooks with pretty much equal frequency. A slice for me is very rare and usually only happens when I try to deliberately hit a fade. My misses are either a push to the right or a hook to the left. I only hit the fairway about 40% of the time with the driver. I would LOVE to eliminate either the push or the hook but I have no clue how to do that. I will try this technique and see if this works for me. Thanks!

    Club head speed is 100% about shaft flex and kick. Most amateurs lack of distance is due to their shaft ‘kicking ‘ too early…it’s the whip effect in the zone that has the desired result. Think of the images taken of tour pros the moment after impact, the club head is kicked forward ahead of their hands. Distance = timing everything 1 foot before until 1 foot after impact. This may mean shortening your backswing. Personally, I had to change from horizontal at the top to something more akin to Tony Finau’s club head almost vertical above my head with very little cocking of the wrist.

    • @NotMe-yr6zs
      @NotMe-yr6zs Місяць тому +2

      You are entirely mistaken. The images you’re referring to are distorted due to the lack of a global shutter in most cameras, which makes the shaft appear to bend significantly. It’s the same optical illusion that makes helicopter blades look bent when they’re not.
