  • Fingers crossed the results begin quicker than I'm hoping, It's always hard to predict with the level on growth varying on every single roof you will clean. It's easy to imagine what it will look like in a year but the gradual change is hard to predict from weeks - months.
    I'll do a follow up video in a month and let you all know how it's getting on and if we are proceeding with the job or not!
    Would be a nice one for the portfolio that's for sure.
    Thanks to the customer for letting me film at his beautiful home too.

    Hi Sid,
    Don’t touch that roof with anything other than Algoclear Pro or GK Pro it’s not worth the risk.
    As a roofer I know first hand those rosemary tiles literally break for fun so if you end up using your cat ladder then except to break some.
    Measure the size on the roof (there’s a few different sizes including the hips) and go to your local roofing merchant and pick up a couple of packs of each.
    There cheap as chips and they’ll always come in handy in the future.
    And please try and get yourself a competent labourer for that job.
    It’s an absolute monster so having someone help you out even if it’s just clean up duty takes some pressure off you so you can focus on the detailed stuff.
    I’ve every confidence in you that you’ll get the job. Have a price in mind and then price a bit higher then haggle down to it.
    If you bid cheap then you’ll end up resenting the job and your body certainly won’t thank you for it.
    If they want it doing professionally then they will have to pay for it,
    Good luck mate 😃👍🏼

      Im thinking about taking the job solo and just doing it as a project for myself, as long as it takes type of thing. The customer is in no rush as far as im away and wants it done right. Cheers for the tips mate!

      Hi mate I thought the same on first approach but when I realised that this house is the only house within a decent radius, opposite a not so very busy road I realised it's definitely black fungi and algae. There's basically nothing around that could cause any build up so quickly as the tiles are only 15 years old.
      But thank you mate that is very valuable information to people that won't know about that for sure.

    Hi Good video. We never touch any roof with Rosemary Tiles they break or crack and replacing them usually causes more to break. We also do not do test area's as 90% are a waste of time. Biocide is still the best but very expensive. Have you tried Fungicide first then Biocide?

  • @cfc6754

    • @PartridgeExteriorCleaning
      @PartridgeExteriorCleaning  3 роки тому

      Hi John i try avoid using bleach wherever possible, and this roof is absolutely covered in edges and pointing's of lead on multiple sections, for the risk factor and worry I opted for a bio only treatment to be safe. There was multiple options I considered including steam too but after talks with the customer he is happy to opt for a slower process that involves practically zero risk and will ultimately end up the same anyway. It's a game of patience, if he wasn't happy to play that game I would opt for for steam cleaning over hypo but the cost would rise quite dramatically.

  • @Lincsdrycarpets
    @Lincsdrycarpets 3 роки тому +1

    Hi, if the customer is after some instant results, why don’t you soft wash it? It will clean up in minutes, and then go on working and getting better on a weekly to monthly basis, and it will be a spray and leave job with minimal prep work, biocide treatments are good but to slow for my liking. clients like to see a big difference on the day, that’s in my experience over the last 13 years, you could mix up in a wheelie bin half and half mix, pull from that with a pump and regulator on to your sprayer pole customer gets nice red tiles on the day you could get the job sooner as well because with in 5-10 mins that roof will be red, that’s how I started soft washing but over the years I have invested in a proper system that does it for me haha

    • @PartridgeExteriorCleaning
      @PartridgeExteriorCleaning  3 роки тому

      Hi mate this is soft washing still just a longer process than hypo, with the amount of lead flashing on the property it’s practically a risk to do the job that way. 1 main water source so limited water access, I did genuinely really consider it but for a roof as high risk and as expensive as this one I opted for a biocide only option as the biocide I use is one of the only chemicals actually covered by insurance for cleaning roof tiles. Now you can imagine on a roof like this if there was an issue that happened I would be bankrupt if I used hypo as it’s not a licensed product for roofs. So basically my insurance say bye bye and I’m left to cost some of the most expensive roof tiles around. I’ve considered every option for this job and can only remain with the insurance covered and licensed method. Cheers for the comment mate and I really appreciate it 👍 it was an initial thought of mine.

    • @Lincsdrycarpets
      @Lincsdrycarpets 3 роки тому

      hi mate. If they are red rosemary’s for the customers sake I would definitely clean them the original way that started 20 years ago, the colour would be throughout the tile, so soft washing them shouldnt be a problem. the ones I have done in the past have come up like new. Regarding the lead flushing a little tip for you, because it seems like your a bit worried over the hypo way of soft washing you can cover the lead with wd40 before you spray round and also if you can’t cover it up you can get a reverser, that product is called lead x pro, works well tbh, hope this helps you mate! Hope you get the job!

      You’ve still overlooked everything he’s replied with though. It’s not worth the risk with the hypo on a roof this big and expensive, plus good insurance doesn’t cover it, hence the biocide.

    Is Biocide the same as bleach?

    • @PartridgeExteriorCleaning
      @PartridgeExteriorCleaning  3 роки тому

      No mate almost the direct opposite. The bleach just bleaches whatever it touches, it doesnt acutally act as a deterrent for future growth, I always say its akin to painting over mould, it will look great for a while but the organic growth is still there and will grow back quickly. a popular method is using a bleach and then using a biocide, so you have the instant result and then the long lasting effect. But on a property with so much lead flashing that this one has im not personally comfortable risking it. There is limited water access around the property so rinsing as we go will be an issue.
