    Been thinking about starting this for a while. But anxiety has held me back for a year or 2 now. I finally got myself a van and started looking into the right pressure washer to get and water tank etc for the van. Hopefully soon be on my way to starting up properly. You talking about your anxiety has helped my mindset abit since I found your videos while looking for a good van set up on UA-cam. Have a son myself I'm trying to set it up to give him a better future. Been in and out of work for years. Including investing into my hgv licence, which I thought was my dream job for a long time... Thanks for the motivation 👌 would love to have a mentor like you.

    I’m on the flip side of the coin. Planning to start up driveway’s & patio’s part time while I work full time to pay the bills, then hopefully build up enough to go full time rather than go “all or nothing”... my bills heavily outweigh anything I could bring in by going self employed from the start.
    I have a small savings pot that would be my own personal investment that I’m willing to write off to get kitted up with a small van and build things up slowly.

    • @PartridgeExteriorCleaning
      @PartridgeExteriorCleaning  3 роки тому +5

      Hi Sammy, no one knows what you're capable of better than you so trust your own judgement (: Me personally if im not all in on something I lack motivation really quickly and it'll just fizzle out. So if I only had half a foot in this business it would never of worked out for me. something would always get in the way.. too tired, works stressing me out etc.
      But that's just me, good luck mate i wish you all the best.

    Great tips. As an oldie Social Media is difficult - everything I look at is just me, me, me. Getting images and promoting yourself as an experienced professional is tricky. It's something I need to learn as an addition to canvassing and website.

    • @PartridgeExteriorCleaning
      @PartridgeExteriorCleaning  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah definitely mate, I always suggest for people who have no idea to get a family member to help out and show the ropes, once its together and done all you need to remind yourself to do is take a lot of pictures at work and just upload them onto your page. If you have a smart phone its a lot simpler. The instagram page i linked in the top comment is a veteran self employed gardener who has mastered the social media aspect, his pictures are wicked and I always thought he was about my age but hes over twice my age i think. @fgm_f20
      If you need any help with anything though mate just give me a shout and i'll give you a hand. confusing at first but once youve got it its easy.

    A valid tip for anyone wanting to start with water fed pole..
    1, when you decide upon a budget, double it
    2, you'll need to be able to problem solve, with basic plumbing and electronics
    3, advertising and branding will make you stand out
    4, if you are using your family car with your standard insurance it will be invalid for work use
    5, window cleaning is bloody hard work and not everyone can do it
    6, social media and algorithms are not the basis of a business.
    Canvassing, word of mouth and quality is your silent salesman

    • @PartridgeExteriorCleaning
      @PartridgeExteriorCleaning  3 роки тому

What advice can you give me to get going please? I don't want to pack my job in, just incase I don't get enough work and make a big mistake. Also, is it worth it as a side hustle? As I would need to register my business and I would get stung on tax. Thank you and keep up the awesome work 👌

    CGP Gray has a potcast (Cortex) where he also gave some vital tips.
    that works on any self employed business.
    1. If you are self employed do go the length and see the multiple roles you have.
    As self employed you are the CEO, administrator, sales person, shop keeper and worker.
    1.1 This might help in the future to also give tasks you are less good in to others. or tasks you just don't have time enough for.
    2. even before you start get financial advise. unless your job is being that advisor big chance that they can give you tips on the business site of your company. and they will likely advice you to get someone to help you with your book keeping and how to file in your taxes. that can be quite daunting when you start and often never gets really easy.
    3. ask your self can you be business minded. you can be the best carpenter in the city but can you also run the company?

    Hi sid
    Just watched the video on getting started 👍.
    I’m getting ready to start be to spinoclean, seen rob, been though what I think I need, not ordered it yet hopefully soon, just found a van, which was a nightmare.
    Any way I live in Yorkshire, truck driver, really need a change, 60 next year.🤦🏼‍♂️. And I thick pressure washing will really suit me, I’m going to concentrate on drives, patios, cutters, conservatory, etc. (Not roofs, ) that looks horrendous....
    Leave that to you young ones.👍
    Hope you don’t mind me picking your brains, I’m going to get some leaflets made, and get out with them. Did you do your own website or got someone to do it. And how to get it on Facebook.
    Pricing jobs is another thing that’s worrying me,
