If measuring from google. Don't forget to times by your pitch. So I do W X L X 1.5 (P) X sqm rate. The 1.5 is the average pitch of a roof. So for every metre of length is a .5 metre in height as well
After seeing this I adjusted a lot of my online quotes and have started averaging it at x1.25 instead of 1.5. I’ve found 1.25 gave me the price I was usually thinking in my head once I started pricing in some extra factors like scaffolding or even hired help for the day. But some jobs especially large flat tiles I don’t even bother xing the pitch, I just count that as my discount for easier tiles to clean 👍
@@PartridgeExteriorCleaning thankyou for the info I’m starting out soon and your channel is really helping a lot to gain knowledge keep them coming and still waiting for the part 2 of your worst roof job video aha 💪🏻
Thanks Sid, I've watched quite a few of your video's, all I can say is, what a nice chap, willing to help and give free advice. I was just about to give up on this roof cleaning, as of yet no customers have taken any quotes, but hay ho, still cleaning windows and keeping head above water. Thanks for the encouragement, keep it up. Many thanks indeed, regards Steve
This has been the most useful roof cleaning video I've seen. Your not afraid to talk cost and conversion rate. Really apreciate that, it lets new guys have at least a ball park figure to work towards 👍👍
Glad to hear it mate! It’s always annoyed me especially when I was new how secretive people were with pricing. It helps us all if we’re all charging similar prices so that way the most trusted and respected business thrive not the cheapest who often tend to be the least knowledgeable! All the best mate and good luck to you

Hi Sid, love all the videos and your honesty. I’m currently setting up a pressure washing business and wanted to add roof cleaning, but nervous of damaging the tiles, or tiles slipping, how do you approach this with the client, do you repair them if you can, and do you write a disclaimer as part of your quote? Thank you. Jamie
Hi fabulous videos thank you. As I'm 80 yrs old I'm not looking to start a business but I am looking to have my roof and guttering cleaned, but could you advice hand cleaning or power washing. I am nervous about power washing. Many thanks
Hi Betty, glad you found the video helpful, and I’m glad you’re not up on a roof working at way at 80! :D I would highly recommend a company that is working from a scaffolding tower and using tools to scrape the moss from the safety of the tower. If you have any issues then contact me any time and I will tell you if you’ve been quoted a fair price or not. Try and do your research on the company as much as possible, ask for relevant insurance and check their reviews. Many thanks Betty, Sid
Sid, some excellent videos they helped me majory in starting up in Aberdeen, scotland. Can I ask for the guarantee is that for a certain amount of years before ypu should need another clean or on your workmanship how does that work ?😂
Hi mate thanks for commenting. It includes a gutter clear but not the cleaning of the gutters facias, soffits and windows they are separate quotes for me but if asked i do discount heavily as the roof is a big paying job as it is. Cheers!
Great Video. When you take on a job do you request a deposit before commencing? or do you find customers usually pay as soon as you have finished the job
I never take deposits I find it can scare some people off plus its more pressure for me then to stick to the schedule ive set out so I just request payment once the jobs done. fortunately I've not had any issues with that yet.
Hey Sid great vid I have been toying with doing roofs . Maybe starting with bungalows first maybe an idea. Where do you purchase your scrapers I use an ova 8 pole for window cleaning and have a an unger pole Is there links somewhere on you page to suggest where to purchase. Cheers mate Shaun from north devon
Great advice, this is something I am looking at starting up. I have been cleaning driveways/patios for 3 years as part of my gardening services. This year I have started clearing gutters, customers are asking about roof cleaning. What attachment do you use on the Wolf Garten telescopic pole?
Great stuff, good luck to you. I use a freeman’s flexi scraper, it can be made with a wolf fitting or a fitting for WFPs is recommended having both options as room roofs the wolf and garten pole won’t reach to even with their biggest one.
@@PartridgeExteriorCleaning what in your opinion are the most common scraper heads? Don’t fancy forking out for a full set off 22 blades just to use half a dozen of them 🤣
Just buy the starter kit, comes with a flat blade, then survey some of your roofs in your area, most common by me is Marley Ludlow but everywhere is different really 👍
Hi Sid I got a question about how you quote, I seen the video you got the figure of £700 but you you add on tax and vat on to that ? Also I'm interested to know if you have any waver contracts, like if you damage any tiles ect, that is not your responsebilty ? Thanks again for a amazing video ✌️
All depends on the contractor mate theres no set rate as far as im aware. Some people are £3m2 which is crazy to me. £10 usually works out pretty well for me. Average roof being 80m2 so looking at 800 quid.
@@brendanknox6671 two full days for a 80m2 roof or maybe a day and a half depending on the tiles. I will start getting helpers in this year though and finishing them in a day
Hi mate, I travel all over the country of the job is worth the journey price wise :) but haven’t ventured to Wales for work yet! Appreciate that, one of the main problems in most self employed industries is keeping prices and quoting processes under lock and key. Always bothered me!
If your doing a middle terrace roof how do you cut in so you've got a line separating your client and there neighbours house Hope you get what I mean Great video mate
Hi mate, I usually just follow the tile up from above the downpipe or do my best guess to where their roof ends and the other begins. then start at the top and get scraping (: Best of luck to you.
Thanks for the reply mate Only been going a couple of months only doing jetwashing hardstanding and window cleaning at moment Going to start roofs and gutters in the spring so finding your channel was a big bonus .... cheers fella 👍
Hi mate so for scraping and soft washing I get most of my jobs done within two days. Occasionally they can bleed into 3 if the roof is awkward to access or the moss is like glue but that’s rare.
I’ll be ordering from a company local to me but if you google tower scaffold hire there will be plenty of reputable ones. And 6m working height minimum but you may want to hire a 7m one on awkward or larger jobs but 6 should do any standard two story house 👍
Ladders on almost every job, Would recommend using a tower over ladders though as its much safer. I'll be using one exclusively when I have the storage space in a few months.
Recommend a MiTower oneman. I got one recently and it’s brill, can disconnect small enough to fit in the back of the van. Very pricey, but you’ll earn it back in no time 👍🏻

I’d just go with one to be honest, only takes about 20 mins to assemble
