It's not that game company don't know how to make serious games, it's just the audience for them is gone. PC players were serious gamers, the selection was limited. Everything is a multiplayer co-op battle royale because COUNTER-STRIKE took over the market. It has nothing to do with the failure of Fallout, or Metro, or FarCry, but with the rise of Overwatch and Siege and Fortnite. Once you play Spec Ops: The Line, what more do you want? Spec Ops: The Line 2? 3? 4? 5 DLC and BATTLE PASS? The multiplayer for that and Max Payne 3 was seen as such a farce. But Left 4 Dead was and IS still brining in constant players, keeps the servers open, and will sustain the companies longer than having to make the next sequel to their next game to their next paycheck. The serious games still exist, you just cannot expect every game coming out to be the next sleeper gem forever. Hades 2 is coming out for people like you, may you game forever!
Not only does one of my parents hail form an African country, and they absolutely captured the mood of any West African country, in war or peace, but this also happens to be one of the top 5 titles in game history. The sparse HUD needs to be normalized in gaming.
The best Farcry! I absolutely loved this game and still play it every few years or so with mods! If they would just go back to this formula as they really don't put the love into the games like they used to. This is one of the most immersive games I have ever played and it really holds up well to this day, it's such an iconic masterpiece.
Perhaps it really is one of the most underrated games of all time. When people talk about Far Cry, they always start from the third one onwards and how amazing it is (which is absolutely true), but without looking back at the past. Let me start by saying that in my opinion Far Cry 2 isn’t perfect, but I think it’s obvious to everyone. Maybe it felt repetitive and challenging to many players who preferred instant gratification over such an adventure, but in terms of true video game immersion, I believe it remains the best. The game’s engine and design still hold up after several years, and Ubisoft probably never reached that level of attention to detail again. The philosophical aspect (just think about how it’s inspired by Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness) of war and everything that stems from it is fantastic. I can’t say more, I love this game
I played this game around the age of 16-17 and I think that was the perfect age for this game. I had the time and patience to deal with those mechanics and really enjoy such a beautiful game, see how desperate and bleak things were while enjoying the beauty of the environment. I hated those guard trucks though.... Those sucked
This game is not for people who can't play strategically or need their hand held. Simple as. I'm currently playing through this game on Infamous difficulty. It's brutally unforgiving, but that's the point. The realism and the challenge factor. One common mistake people make when playing FC2 is using the roads. Travel by boat whenever possible. The waterways are much less patrolled. This is especially true on higher difficulties. Also, the bus system can usually get you fairly close to your current objective. Going on foot is safest and will net you alot of hidden diamonds. Stealth absolutely does work in this game but it's largely based on light level, cover, and LOS. The camo suit and silent makarov are your best friends.
100%, definitely a game that tries to grind you down. I enjoyed how challenging stealth was, no radar to keep track of anyone or other UI to help us out. It made it extremely rewarding sneaking into a base undetected, very tense too
FC2 doesn't require strategic thought. Just point and shoot. To avoid guns breaking just upgrade them. It's not as deep as the metal gear solid games mechanically
Really enjoyed the game myself, as frustrating as it gets, I didn't mind it leaning more towards the tactical aspect as opposed to action. I'm not surprised that there's still mods being developed for it. Can't say I'd revisit it, I'm happy to keep the good memories as that.
was shocked how well made this video is, and was surprised by the views and likes. you deserve more but i think its better this way but building yourself up. keep up the good work, you've earned a sub
Man, I really wanted to love this game. The immersion was great, the setting unique, but the malaria and never-ending enemy encounters annoyed me too much to ever finish it.
I had times like that tbf, especially early on. Things did start to click a bit more in Act 2 though and the game was more managable. But yeah it definitely grinds you down and tests your patience
Malaria is a non issue, it just encourages you to go back and get more pills, side quests and encourages you to traverse back and forth. The instant respawn of guardposts though, that is a major issue, need to mod that out. Also the broken stealth is an issue too, even the ghilly suit doesnt help.
SAME👏HERE👏 I want to but the malaria, guns jamming, and the fact that I cant pass through a settlement or outpost without getting in to a gun fight bothers me. I get that is 'immersian" but man is it annoying for someone trying to speed run it.
I looked forward to the enemy encounters. NGL it did take me about 6-10 game hours to get to that "place: But once I crossed that threshold I prayed for enemy encounters at checkpoints.
It would mean alt to me if you reviews the mafia games as they are some of my favourite games and I always enjoy your reviews I hope you have a great day and I really enjoyed the video Keep up the good work have a great day
I've always considered Far Cry 2 as the Western S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Everywhere I go I never know what will happen, will my gun jam, will I find the resources I need, is my cover gonna be blown by a roaming patrol?
I remember playing Far Cry 2 on PS3, connected to a shitty tube TV that could never do it's graphics justice. A nice game, but it was a bit too much ahead of it's time. Today, people would love it's plotting pace in a world where boring, every now and then interactive "works of art" like RDR2 and TLOU are heralded as masterpieces by fart sniffers. Far Cry 2's gameplay is actually fun, (when it doesn't artificially slow you down) though.
That's because Rdr2 and TLOU are fun, asshole. Just because you don't like them, doesn't mean you have to be a dick. But it seems like a tall order to demand of gamers, especially ones who fanboy over dated games from 2008.
FC2 doesn't get enough love from people, it's an artistic statement as much as it is a commercial product. Can't say that about any of the subsequent sequels imo
I didn't mention it in the review, but Far Cry 2s lukewarm reception was a big factor in the development of FC3. Ubisoft wanted to make something with a broader appeal that focussed more on fun. Makes sense, but it's sad we've ended up with the same FC game over and over since then
This game is full of flaws, up to a degree that did not allow me to finish it and enjoy the story. From the instant replenishing outposts (which the map is full of them) to the repetitive go kill that one guy at the other edge of the map and come back type of missions, I was so frustrated and had to uninstall it even before reaching to the middle of the story.
I wouldn’t advise anyone to play this game. The degraded gun mechanic is a nightmare, always at the worst time. Then it’s just driving back and forth for ages around the same lookalike boring landscapes. And to add to it you have to keep curing yourself from malaria! Respawning outposts. Annoying map. The fire mechanic is cool though. This is an outrageous review. Far Cry 2 is terrible. It was rubbish then and even more shit now.
"The degraded gun mechanic is a nightmare, always at the worst time." You just perfectly described one of the better days in the life of an IRL child soldier in an African civil war...

Currently playing Far cry 2. Im in act 2 so the bottom map. Yes it does show realism and yes to all what you have said in the video, But I would be lying to myself if I did not admit that the game is the most infuriating game I have ever played. And Im keeping my negative review on it. I have to download a mod just to get it to work properly and even then the mod is buggy. The jamming mechanic bothers more than having to deal with maleria, And the stealth mechanic is not working. And Ill be honest SPOILERS I did not like how in the end of act 1 I had to lose my buddies that I worked so hard to build reputation with. Again I get that they tried to go with the "realism" but man does that leave a sour taste in my mouth. But Im playing it to completion EVEN COLLECTING ALL THE DIAMONDS just so I can say to others I have played all Far cry games . So far I only played 4 Far cry games and this is how I rate them from best to worst. Far cry 3, Far cry dragon, Far cry 2, Far cry 1
Back when ubisoft games took themselves seriously

Surprised you don’t have more subs tbh, the way you articulate your thoughts and the way you carry your speech is phenomenal. New sub forsure
It's obvious that you put a lot of effort into this. Good job!

Now you make me wanna reinstall LOL
I’m playing through infamous and I’m breezing through it, don’t overthink just act. Hit the flow state and use fire and maneuver properly
That's wrong. This game has easy mode. Thus rendering the challenge moot.
Dark Souls requires more strategy
FC2 doesn't require strategic thought. Just point and shoot. To avoid guns breaking just upgrade them. It's not as deep as the metal gear solid games mechanically

It's a fun environment but that's it IMO. Gameplay has not aged well at all. Unmatched atmosphere though.

Mafia isn't currently planned sorry!
The jackel providing both sides remaining neutral makes sense. The survivial of the fittest. Then he can befriend whoever wins the battle
Great Video
Interesting video. I played Far Cry 2 a lot when it first came out but I never actually completed it. It was an impressive game though.
I find this game to be more interesting to hear about than play.
Really adequate that the last section of the game, and the map, is named "Heart of Darkness".
I've always considered Far Cry 2 as the Western S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Everywhere I go I never know what will happen, will my gun jam, will I find the resources I need, is my cover gonna be blown by a roaming patrol?
I love the game, shame the gameplay wasn't consistent. It took a lot from Stalker but added to much health all around.
This may be the most brown/grey game of that brown/grey game era
I feel like this game is a better Apocalypse Now homage than Spec Ops: The Line is, if only because the gameplay is actually engaging.
Cap
The whole Malaria thing killed FC2 for me, but apart from that it was decent.
I remember playing Far Cry 2 on PS3, connected to a shitty tube TV that could never do it's graphics justice.

“people will think i’m cool because i don’t like this critically acclaimed game” bruh what are you talking about
@@marbl3d45 I'm so sorry that your opinion differs from mine.
Honestly love this game but the patrols on the road made me tired of playing so I never finished. Definitely wish there was a mod to fix it.
Best game Far Cry 2! I played it when i was 7 or 8 years old in 2013! I loved it a lot!
FC2 doesn't get enough love from people, it's an artistic statement as much as it is a commercial product. Can't say that about any of the subsequent sequels imo

Then your line of thinking is flawed. Especially when people connect more with the ways themes were handled in later games in comparison to Far Cry 2.
“i’m cool because i go against the general consensus” bruh chill out
I finished farcry 2 when it came out and have only ever played it once, game is way to depressing for a second playthrough good game tho
Loved the gun jammimg. Hated the maleria.
Ah yes, the Africa-simulation…far cry 2 😁 Very good video, keep it up! 👍🏼
But there is always an Answer and it is Jesus.

masterpiece???????????????? you're crazy, this game is an insult
Ayeeeoooooo
Far Cry 2 biggest flaw is the huge map with no proper fast travel.
I wouldn’t advise anyone to play this game. The degraded gun mechanic is a nightmare, always at the worst time.
