    V for Vendetta trivia
The domino scene, where V (Hugo Weaving) tips over black and red dominoes to form a giant letter V, involved 22,000 dominoes. It took four professional domino assemblers 200 hours to set it up.
For the scene when V emerges from Larkhill, stunt double Chad Stahelski literally walked through fire, wearing just a special fire resistant gel and a g-string. Stahelski's body temperature had to be lowered before the scene was shot, and luckily, it was three degrees below zero the night of the shoot. Fifteen minutes before a take, he would put on ice cold flame resistant clothing, and once he took them off, he would be covered with fire resistant gel which had been icing all day long.
The cast and crew were only allowed to shoot near the British Parliament and Big Ben (the clock tower) from midnight to 4:30 a.m., and they could only stop traffic for four minutes at a time.
Certain scenes within this movie feature James Purefoy as V, who was originally cast in the role, but replaced by Hugo Weaving four weeks into filming. Weaving's voice was simply dubbed over Purefoy's performance in post-production. Director James McTeigue said in an interview: "Can I tell the difference? Yeah. Can the audience tell? I doubt it."
Evey (Natalie Portman) mentions to Gordon Dietrich (Stephen Fry) that "eggie in the basket" is the same breakfast V (Hugo Weaving) made for her the first morning she spent at his place. She fails to mention (or doesn't notice) that Dietrich and V also greeted her in exactly the same way, not with "good morning", but with "bonjour mademoiselle". Also, Stan Getz is playing in the background in both instances.
The Secret Police are called "Fingermen", because the New Order was arranged on the model of the human body. The Chancellor (Sir John Hurt) was the Head; the television station BTN was the mouth; visual and audio surveillance were the Eyes and the Ears; Inspector Finch (Stephen Rea) was part of The Nose, the Police force, and Creedy's (Tim Pigott-Smith's) Secret Police were the Hand.
One of the major challenges in this movie was how to bring V to life from under an expressionless mask. Thus, considerable effort was made to bring together lighting, acting, and Hugo Weaving's voice to create the proper mood for the situation. Since the mask muffled Weaving's voice, his entire dialogue was re-recorded in post-production.
In the comic, illustrator David Lloyd often subtly changed V's Guy Fawkes mask to suit the mood or tone of a particular scene. The filmmakers considered designing several subtly different masks, but they ultimately decided to alter the shadows and lighting in post-production.
The scenes in the abandoned London Underground station were filmed at Aldwych, a Piccadilly line station that closed in 1994. The branch still has tracks and electricity, meaning trains can still operate.
The original comic series was created by Alan Moore. However, following his negative experience with From Hell (2001) and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003), Moore decided to reject all money and credit from Hollywood on any adaptations of his work. Thus, he gave all the money he would've gotten to the artist who drew the character with him, and rejected his own "created by" credit from the movie.
Background checks were conducted on every actor, actress, and technician who carried a weapon in the Parliament Square scenes. The barcodes on each piece of weaponry were scanned, to track the individuals authorized to handle them.
All of V's dialogue was dubbed. Initially, a mask was designed with a small microphone inside, and another mic was designed to sit along Hugo Weaving's hairline, but neither worked very well.
Natalie Portman looked forward to buzzing her hair, saying she'd wanted to do that for a long time.

      Yes, I agree.
I've loved this movie for years, ever since I first saw it in the theater. And, I've watched plenty of UA-camrs reactions to this movie. To say this was the "most lighthearted" reaction, is a very kind way of stating it. No offense to these ladies, but this was probably the worst reaction I've seen to this movie.
Of course...everyone's reaction to *anything* will vary. That your reaction was different than mine, or different than other reactors that I've watched, doesn't make your reaction "bad". But...I find this film to be extremely moving, charged with emotion, and telling an intriguing story of political power, corruption, greed, and how a single, determined individual might bring about change. Was Vee a rebel, a common criminal, a terrorist...or an avenging angel?
I've never seen anyone skip the segment where Evey reads the note from the prisoner in the next cell over. It's the most moving scene in the film, and you glazed over it as if it wasn't even there, and then refer to it in the comments as "boring".
You didn't seem to so much "react" to this, as joke and guffaw your way through it. I'm truly surprised that you seemed to enjoy it as much as you did. Well, at least you did enjoy it...and *that's* something!

The most important lesson from this story is that the people voted for the government they have, based upon a false trade-off of freedom vs security. What goes unsaid in the movie, but is plainly obvious, is that we are primed to think how we think by the culture we inhabit, and that culture is influenced by the thought-leaders that we listen to. It's philosophy all the way down.

I definitely think V is not meant to be viewed as a purely good person. He is deranged and is meant to be viewed that way. His views and goals are good but he is a damaged person.
With that perspective in mind what he did to Evie makes sense. That audience isn't meant to be totally onboard with his actions.

I watched this movie twice while it was in theaters, something I almost never do. The first time was by myself, and I was blown away; the second time, I saw it with my parents, but by then my local theater had stopped showing it, and we had to drive to one in the next county, a few hours away. Both of my parents thought it was great, but it hit Dad particularly hard; I looked over at him during the finale with all the marchers in masks, and saw tears running down his cheeks. We had an excited discussion about it afterward that lasted a good long while, all through trying to find a restaurant for dinner afterward (it was a later showing), straight through the meal, and halfway through the drive back, until Mom finally lost her patience with us and straight-up told us to stop talking about something else. For years afterward, Dad would occasionally pop it into the DVD player, and we would watch it - he and I had very different tastes in movies, most of the time, so it was rare to find one that we agreed on. He died a couple years back, so while I loved 'V for Vendetta' anyway, it's especially important to me now, as it carries some precious memories with it.

Great reaction Lovely Ladies. I enjoyed this movie quite a bit when I saw it in the theaters. It makes you think about the rise of authoritarianism, and the movie presented that in a innovative way. Hugo Weaving was Fantastic as V, along with Natalie Portman.
I did roll my eyes at some of the political assumptions it puts forth, but it is also eerily prescient considering the last few years. 😳 It was great seeing you Beautiful Ladies laugh and enjoy the movie, especially considering how dark it gets. Bravo. Live stream this week?

Absolutely! The groups they claim are oppressive are backwards in our society. Had they not forced 2005 US politics into the movie I would give it a 5/5 but they did. I don’t think we will have a livestream until the 14th but not 💯 sure yet! Will keep everyone updated!

Yep, some of those political jabs were directed at a certain figure of the day. Yawn. It's a bit funny in a "not so funny way" that a current figure on the opposite side, recreated some of the imagery from this movie. Along with the "othering" language. I'm trying to be cryptic, and I kinda figured you Ladies don't want to get too political here. But with this is a movie, evan though I enjoyed it, it makes it hard to avoid. Keep it fun! 👍😎👍

I read the comic every 5th of November since it came out in 1988 now I watch the movie every year. The people shouldn't be afraid of the government the government should be afraid of it's people. In the light of the world today I can't help but draw some comparisons to this movie and the current situation with covid, the lock downs, the curfews, the censorship by the media, the cover-ups, the virus and the timely development of the vaccine, this movie was released in 2006, 18 years ago but is even more relevant today

The comic, written by Allen Moore who is one of my favorite comic writers, centers more on the darker side of a government controlled people and V's belief of if he could just inspire one person then there was hope. The Wachowskis expanded it to inspire the populous of the people. So there were a lot of liberties taken especially in the last third of the movie but both are very effective in the story telling

I hate to burst your bubble, but Joker is not DC. While the Joker is a DC character, the movie Joker wasn't associated with DC comics.
The blacklist isn't cancel culture, as cancel culture has a societal overtone. The black list, being instituted by the government itself, is what happens to questionable books in a school library that has a school board made up of "Mom's for Liberty." All of those books are "blacklisted:,

This is a disappointing reaction. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you were in a giggly mood, maybe you had watched a comedy before this one, but the amount of laughing and joking during this video was pretty disrespectful to the content. While there is humor is the movie, it is not a comedy. If you wanna riff the movie, that's fine, but not during a first time reaction, you suppose to be reacting.

  • @renaissanceman21c

I’ve watched a lot of reaction videos to this movie. Most people react to the “prison/interrogation” scene with more sensitivity, depth, and emotion. By contrast, in this reaction I see giggling, making light, and superficiality. Pretty astonishing. If this is a reflection of the culture at large, it’s no wonder why we are where we are.

This is such a pretentious movie. I didn't like this movie as it is just a vehicle for a Gary Stu self insert of the original comic writer, Alan Moore. His politics come out clearly and frequently gets caught up being hypocritical.
Natalie Portman's performance is subpar and if it weren't for Natasha Wingman and Stephen Rea, Hugo Weaving would have had to carry the whole film by himself. Everyone else was either over acting, or just plain boring.
Hugo was magnificent, of course. He's a consummate professional. I do wonder how he speaks of this film behind closed doors. I wonder if he sees the problems I see in it. That in the end V is just as bad a tyrant as Sutler, if not worse.
