I LOVE mine. Picked it up about two months ago. It's an older import and someone had (thankfully) replaced the springs. No holster, but it came with 4 mags, so.... Only hiccup was that they had reinstalled the grips poorly. This allowed some pieces to shift. The malfunction was a dead trigger.
The difference in the round vs square hammer and mag different in the older and new p64 models is cool and adds more to collect since it’s nice to have both. very cool little pistol
Oooh. Mixed feelings about your comment. My first pistol was an FEG PA 63. That got me down the 9x18 Makarov rabbit hole. I have an absolutley sick arsenal 11 P-64 with CNCd French walnut grips that I hold very dear. And a P-83. And a Bulgarian PM. As well as a vz 82 that totally kicks ass. The 82 is an amazing example of a country doing their own thing instead of adopting the communist option. Solid gun, for sure. But hard to pick a favorite. It'd be up there, for sure. But in my order: PA 63, P-64, vz 82, P-83, PM. No regerts.
I got one not too long ago from the guy at blitzkrieg super nice, I haven’t shot it yet but I just love anything comm block or even smaller guns intrigue me which is funny bc I have large hands
Have a 1974 model first thing it did with make me bleed between my thumb and finger that hurt so I bought a different grip for it which takes care of that problem but you still can't shoot it all day cuz it just makes your hand ache
The way he pulls the trigger is total garbage lol. Waaah! The safety and decocker works in the same direction as many other pistols like the Bersa, Beretta, etc. Sounds like someone wants to cry and complain instead of actually learn something! Mishaco however, knows what he's talking about and it's a pleasure watching. While the P64 is a little painful to shoot, it's super tiny and very well made.
I have one. Two magazines at the range is all I can tolerate; the felt recoil is punishing. I used to own an E German Makarov (makARov, it's pronounced). I could shoot it all day, no pain. Oh...and the P-64 is NOT drop safe. Many owners have had unfortunate incidents with them. So, you can use it as a carry gun, but.....
If mags stick in the P-64 the solution is to back off the grip screw a tiny bit. If the grip screw is too tight the plastic of the grip will squeeze on the mag. It sounds like one of your mags was just a tiny bit wider due to manufacturing differences over the years so it bound up while the other one didn't. Give it a try. I've been shooting and carrying these for over 20 years now and have learned to really appreciate all their little foibles.

Wolff makes springs for those. Amazing how much difference that made in mine. Still snappish with a stiff DA trigger pull but improved.

I just bought a 1970 from Atlantic. Very nice fit and finish. Double action is a bear! My holster is in the brown and is imported by blitz
