Crying tears that come with celebrating being seen, loved, and valued, for who we each are. Thank you for taking such an iconic song and bringing us, and it, home. Community and connection, love and truth -- ultimate protection.
@@TThomasonswtbbt All love back. 💜💜💜💜It has been a multiple heart whammy -- inseparable are the life long musician in me who has been told there's Cockburn in my playing -- discovering this treasure thanks to a 30+ year friendship, and, in these dangerous times, being reminded in such a palpable, playful, loving, and musical way, that hatred will not win, that we are not alone. Such gifts. Thank you, thank you , thank you, thank you. Music, Connection, Hope, and Love. 💜🎸🎶💜
Yup, thanks CBC & Tom Powers, and of course, T Thomason, you are awesome! You are the highlight of my day, so glad I discovered you! ❤ Keep up creating👍
When the Bare Naked Ladies took this song to the suburbs, it seemed to me that it was pretty, but no longer poignant, no longer "dangerous." I've written a book on Mr. Cockburn, and this is the best cover ever. You pick up the danger, play the song with both an ominous sense to it, and yet grasping the liberating joy. Whether this song is played in the midst of the Cold War, the AIDS crisis, in the face of rising fascism, or in a context of a violent movement of trans and homophobia, it continues to speak with power. Thanks T Thomason for keeping this song alive as an anthem in a dangerous time for the LGBTQ+ community.
Hey Brian, just seeing your comment now (I need to get better at UA-cam!) - thank you so much. That means a lot to me. I’m so honoured that my version speaks to you brings the feelings across that I feel when I sing it. Happy pride !!
OMG T! You got me. All the way! Bruce Cockburn must be dancing for joy! I sure am! Best most poignant cover of this song EVER!

Boy, does THIS seem appropriate right now for us 🇨🇦🇨🇦. All of us. Kick at the darkness til it bleeds daylight.
