Drew's NODs video has been a great reference since he put it out. Man, this all looks really good, and I can't wait to hop back into GZW. I was concerned about how they were going to implement it, but.. I think they're doing great stuff, and honestly I think they're doing better than Tarkov did on this.
Seems like the tried to copy what NODs look like from a video camera behind the tube and not the user. IMO the edges of the tube should not have a hard edge but be a blur, my eyes never pick up the edge of the tube. I also think the tubes should be about 25% bigger for the monocle's, 14s have limited POV but its still right Infront of your eyes.
Appreciate your feedback, but I have to ask: if you focus your view precisely on the edge, would you then be able to see the edge without blur? Because I bridged two monos, and at least with mine I could. Then again, if I focus on my environment the edges just blur in ny peripheral view, just like you said. If I'm not mistaken there was a STALKER mod (Bacon's NVG or something?) doing this decently, even though the game didn't even have depth of field in the first place? My other question: doesn't the size and therefore your leftover unaided peripheral view depend on how close or far to your eyes you slide your nods eyepiece on your helmet mount? At least that's my perception with Rhino and G24 mounts...
They will work on these, and a lot of other night vision related things - first update is just a beginning 💚 We surely left them with a lot of notes (as we always do) for the future :D
@@MFG_Rickhi Rick, thank you, the night ops approach you took and what you did for that with unreal engine seems really great! Since the release is pretty close, can you say if further NVG iterations will be implemented before release, or at least between major updates? I know it's may be considered cosmetic, but the shown low signal to noise ratio (SNR) with pvs-7 tubes in Lamang's light conditions may affect gameplay too? Same goes for brightness settings on red dots. At least I haven't seen the ability to lower the brightness on the non nightvision compatible eotechs (the 2)? The 3 being nvg compatible seemed fine in this video, though. Keep up the good work, cheers!
Looks good, but the halo effect looks worse than my Belarussian Dipol NVG. Also, the washout indicates they have modelled the lasers and illuminators at high power. Hopefully there will be a low power option to make them more usable when in close.
I second all of this, considering for example that many modern tubes sold have decent halo specs now (even my rather cheap Photonis aren't too bad there). Besides that, the general approach MFG took is great and I hope future iteration will further fine tune this. If I'm not mistaken, they already consider that different light sources and angles give different halo strengths. Then if this video is correct then they will simulate autogating in some tubes, which hopefully helps. Manual gain may be another idea for the future? But putting an IRIS / daylight cap on your nods would probably take it too far / right now not worth the effort to simulate that in Unreal Engine. I took a look at the bloom effect myself in Unreal Engine 4 to improve Halo effects for night vision - and damn, I couldn't get it nearly as close as MFG did...
Thank you for this insight! Just one remark: if I'm not mistaken, the 2 is a non nvg compatible eotech red dot, while the 3 has nvg compatibility. Unfortunately, I didn't see that MFG was able yet to release an ability to change the brightness on the 2, so you don't get completely blind when looking at it through nods... Hope they find time to do so soon, because the path they took looks really promising ♥️
What games don't do is show that you can switch the tubes inside night vision devices. You can have older models with newer tubes (to a point) inside them and wise versa. Like PVS-14 from fifteen years ago vs brand new with top of the line tube and you get drastically different visuals. Basically you gotta think each analog night vision device as unique. No two will have exact same specs. And then there are the optics and how they affect the experience. But yeah I understand why games won't do this. That auto brightness is cool to see.
I don’t remember in what video, but I could swear I saw they were going to make it so that you can switch out tubes, it will probably come in the next big content update when we’re able to repair our equipment.
@@justincredible9302wow! MFG please comment on that if you can! I know it's a big ask, but I was wondering the exact same thing as OP, and I also had mixed feelings about the Signal to Noise ratio (SNR) of what you showed about the pvs-7 in some (!) light conditions. I don't know if it's done for game balancing reasons, BUT: the SNR in lower light is in your current released material able to drop so low, that I heard some voices stating they almost see clearer in Lamang without them. And I concur, because I double checked the minimum specs of military issued pvs-7 back in the day, and then I took a modern budget tube with a similar low SNR of approximately 23. And my impression: the noise only gets nearly as bad as your lowest post processing values if you stand in s totally dark spot. And even then I feel like I can see clearer as in slightly woody but full moon(!) Lamang - maybe even interior. That being said: keep up the good work, I absolutely love the direction you're going with this so far!♥️
I really hope the lasers won't be too bright with NVG's when the update releases because the way it' shown now the lasers appear wayyy too reflective to the point that they won't be worth using.
@@ControlledPairsGamingthanks for that. I saw that in the first minute and instantly thought what OP commented. Hopeful for a fix to the intensity of the laser on targets and environments. (Metal, etc)
I'm a 2111 (armorer) in the marines, my unit still rocks PVS-14s using Rhino Mounts and Elbow Mounts, as well as PEQ-15s. It's cool to see the same equipment portrayed pretty damn authentically and give off a realistic feeling. They got the poor picture quality out of them spot on, it'll be cool to see if they give us some quad tube NVDs at some point or something with actual good FOV and picture quality, but it's also nice in a way having to utilize the lower end of NVDs unlike most games that give you the best of the best. Lookin' forward to this update as long as it fixes the server issues, hopefully I can hop in and play without any issues.
they just need to put in the shit ass focal range of the pvs 14 lol. It makes it significantly harder to do anything with them in real life. If your diopter is set to longer distance, up close everything is very blurry and vise versa
@@ChickentNugMakes me wonder how much you could optimise with better glasses, or are you completely limited by the housing? Then all you could do is an iris or daylight cap, trading brightness for larger focal range ..
@M.Werhoff no pano. Only way to achieve that is with an angled bino but that's something different than a pvs31. In a videogame the view of a BNVD is basically the same as on a pvs14
@@coolbreezetg6I see, thank you. Well, guess I should complain about the weight of my two pano bridged monos. But damn, 830 gram is more than the L3 GPNVG if I'm not mistaken, that's headache material. Have to try with a heavier counterweight I guess, or get a light bino housing ;)

What I really hope is a setting to turn off the NVG field of view adjustment. I get its realistic to have a low FOV when lookin through tubes but I get notriously motion sick from low fov games. 20 minutes of Black Ops 1 on a PS3 (fixed FOV of I think is between 55 - 65) put me down for 3 hours before I could make 90° turns irl without puking. So I just bought some nods to get into the NVG game, and then let's see where I'll go from there...)
What i want to know is how do the A,I react to the night does it effect there line of sight..or can they still see you 100 meters away in pitch black night while im hiding in a bush . ..if night does not effect A,I line of sight then this update is pointless
So you'ved use the binocular head-mounted optics in real life? If so, does being able to see outside the edges of the optics make any sense? Can you really see AROUND the optics when wearing them? If not, I think it should be redesigned to reflect this.
We ❤ pairs
I haven't really been paying attention to development, have they fixed the AI one-shotting you with iron sights through vegetation from 300 m?
also why do neck shots not drop enemies immediately LOL
EXPS 2 series is the NON night vision compatible version of the 3 series.
Ah gotcha. Hoping GZW gives us NVG capable variant and adjustable brightness.
looks great but I'm seeing a severe lack of the infamous quad nods in the game
Do you know if the enemy are actually blind in the dark?
And do you know if torches dazzle the enemy and make it harder for them to be accurate?
My question is have the fixed the AI? Last time I played the AI was to op they could do a 180 head shot the second you shot at them
I want to see IR illuminator, did you show that in the video?
Where is the drewski video link?
Added. Thank you!
There needs to be a better way to implement binocular night vision than artificially increasing the FOV.
AFAIK it may depend on the housing.... Even with my pano bridge for two monoculars I can get two decently overlapping circles. Y6may be right for the original pvs-31a housing, never had the pleasure to try that one myself...
I just hope they worked on optimization, hit registration, and AI tanking 15 rounds before going down.
The AI have already been fixed for the most part; the culprit was server desync and that’s been addressed. Anytime I play I consistently KO enemies in 1-3 shots.
I can't wait for this update. Mainly I want to get PVS-31s and then go and smoke the heck out of the little dweeb NPCs in the starting town who don't have any...
can you burn the NVG tubes like it shows in the trailer?
Yes
My brother in Christ, you need a clip on thermal on the long boi @13:15
Sheeeesh. You're right. But that ain't cheap!
@ControlledPairsGaming I'm running an AGM 35-384 clip on, on my 16". Easily identify and making hits at 300+ for $2000 out the door.
Nice recommendations! Is it fair to assume that in some scenarios it may be even more handy than a thermal clip on for your nods?
@@M.Werhoff I've used a COTI and ECOTI. I'm personally not a fan of them unless that's all you have. I prefer thermal on my weapon. NODs on my face.
@@BlackRifleBear I see, thank you.
They should make NVGs pricey and expensive. It shouldn’t just be everyone running NODs without fail
I mean, players are PMCs. At least the entry level nods should be mildly accessible. Leave high rarity to dual tubes and specially GPNVG
The prices shown so far are not far from current market prices, and considering how little you earn for tasks in the game, you should be fine :)
Hey pairs sorry to ask again but still waiting on any word from the sore kickers 2 guys. Anything new other than they we’re hoping for a quarter 4 of 2024
I haven't played in months looking forward to this update just hope the AI ain't still shooting the nuts off a fly at 2000 yards with iron sights.... Lost so much gear to those terminator AI.
I know this might get a negative perspective and saying leave someone saying “that’s boring” I had someone give me 5 million in game. I got all my traders up and yeah let’s just say I don’t have to worry about gear fear.
There are IR illuminators?
Yes, sir
RAD!
Didn't we talk about lasers/IR lasers ?
Looks good, but Absolute realism never works out in games
Cant wait to get 1 tap shot by AI night time hide in bushes 🎉
Untill helis are mire quite( on their own not with out needinv ear muffs) and helis are no more then 5 minute heli ride to do what you need at max its a hard pass for me the game had soo much potential too
it's 12 days from release by the time of upload. 11 by the time of this comment. i honestly don't see what will be different in that short span of time.
I don’t want this game to be as realistic as possible, I want it to be as realistic as playable instead. Good luck spotting enemies, can’t see shit out of 70m.😅
2:12 monocular mate?
Apparently it's a biocular lol
For the love of god, hopefully they've fixed the issue where we have to shoot someone 7 times, thats the biggest deal IMO. Most of the kit thats already in game doesnt work, its unusable, thats a massive problem, hopefully thats been fixed
*70, not 7
Shotguns and Pistol Ammo have been adjusted and are deadly and all weapons are viable now against AI
@@TheDevildogGamer But it isnt just the pistol and shotgun ammo that are issues. The ONLY caliber that works in game atm is 5.56, and even then, you have to use black tip, and EVEN then, guys are eating rounds (I'm talking about the AI here). I have tons and tons of footage of AI eating dozens of rounds to the body and head and almost point blank and it not affecting them, so I hope ALL the ammunition problems are addressed...saying shotgun and pistol ammo isn't fixing the issue, and very concerning
@@T.A.K.R.A.G_Reap hence how I said all weapons are viable
@@T.A.K.R.A.G_ReapYes. I want them to fix the existing issues before adding more stuff that could cause further issues.

lol nerd ;p
i shoot passively with my lpvo lol
Wild man
@@ControlledPairsGaming just have to set teh focus on the optic and its actually quite clear and easy to use once u get used to it
@@mugenemay I ask: that only works with 1x 'magnification' on a lpvo, nothing larger, right?
@@M.Werhoff iv gone to about 3x not really gone anymore but i use it for airsoft so i dont really need anymore zoom then that - use a Vortex Razor HD Gen II
@@M.Werhoff now larger the objective lens is the more light that goes into it so image is brighter
I hate the fact that the PVS7's are being based of the Marines and their junk ass version. I've used these myself in the US Army, they don't look like fuzzy dogshit. This isn't realistic at all.
I was wondering the same! I double checked the specs of the ones apparently issued back then and was like: wait, a minimum SnR of like 23 doesn't look THAT bad, at least to my eyes?
Fix the dan game first! Make helis not soo loud, with out earmuffs, fix the poor performance and crashes! And fix the ai and stop making missions soo grindy. Biggest one of all noo hwlicoper ride in any case going over 5 minutes. This could have been a great game but its terrible it takes too long i was exited about a more casual tarkov type experience and its worse, helipcopters are the worst part of the game too loud and too long, who wanta to be waiting 15 minutes or more for a heli, across the map thats normal. No thanks
I just want my money back LOL
womp
For.... ?
Lmao
Runs like shit on my 7800x3d & 7900xt
@ valid
woooow what a shit update..And for this we have to wait 6 months?xD
Why not give a playthrough before dismissing it entirely...I think there will be a bit more than just nvg's.
Pairs only talked about nods and some attachments. which isnt the full update. There is more, if you didnt know.
What's wrong with the update? This update is bigger then the stuff tarkov added in 2 years. Considering they did it in 6 months I feel incredibly spoiled.
@@UltraSur76yeah there adding a good amount of mission variety, fixing helicopter LZs and wait times, guns and gear, ammo type damage values will be change to be USABLE (shotgun rounds, handgun rounds and high caliber rifle rounds). I agree fully with your above comment. Definitely give the game a good full play through before dismissing it or bashing it. It actually has a lot of great features. The community is unmatched and you can always find yourself rolling with a group of dudes kitted out and enjoy the pretty sizable play environment.
