Turkish Airlines have really good flights and the air crews are great. But unfortunately the ground crews are equally incompetent. I flew this airline thrice for various destinations, loved the flight, no comments on Turkish Airlines ground crews. I'm sure if the ground crews are properly trained, it'll make a lot of difference for the travelers.
Hey! when did you actually fly? I'm thinking of booking for next Tuesday and I'm keen to know how packed these flights get (not that you necessarily know this just from your experience and time of year haha).

I was extremely shocked to have found out that Turkish Airlines were only rated 3 stars by sky trax. That is very harsh as they are the best European airline I've flown

Don't trust skytrax. if anything.. check google reviews.. tripadvisor... don;t go by the * idea! BA is 4* on skytrax... would you rate BA as 4*???? I wouldn't give it 3!

Nice comprehensive review! Honestly speaking, I still don’t understand how and why TK is a 3 star airline. They frankly deserve more than 3 stars

I've flown Turkish airlines from Heathrow to Kathmandu for the past 3 years transitting in Istanbul and have loved every flight. Skytrax should be ashamed for giving Turkish airlines 3 stars.

Turkish Airlines is one of the best airlines in economy for me. I flew them several times this year and never had a bad flight. Even got upgraded to Business class two times (from IST to ZRH due to overbooking). In the plane you flew I actually highly dislike the footrest, as they take some legroom and if you are tall it will be incredibly hard to fit your legs under the seat in front of you
I agree with you ,even I am not so tall as 183cm but , I had also several times same problem about footrest.

I love that the IFE screen can only be seen by the person sitting in its seat because the screen is dark if you look from further away

Turkish Airlines is a fantastic airline I often use from London to Turkey. Great crews. Modern aircraft. Fantastic entertainment. Complimentary drinks. Tasty and substantial meals. With British Airways? Packed in like sardines. Surly crew. No entertainment. Buy on board. No comparison. TK is a pleasure. BA is awful. What a shame that my national carrier has sunk to being a low-cost carrier, and not even a good one.
Don't forget no free food on board in European flights, despite flying from one side of the continent to the other.
Simply unacceptable.

I flew Turkish Airlines economy in September 2019 direct flight Saigon to Istanbul and back which are 11 hour flights. Totally satisfied with every aspect of service!
This is definitely one airline I would like to try if I could ever find my way out of the US! It is ridiculous that they are rated a three star airline by Skytrax, but we all know Skytrax is a scam. Thanks for another amazing and unbiased review as always Josh!❤️👍✈️

I believe the reason for the "long taxi" (in your case) is that only 1/3 of the "sky bridges" are 100% complete. I took the flight from NYC to Istanbul in Sept ('19) and we taxied for about 15 min.
As far as Sky Trax ratings are concerned...they are showing a good deal of bias here. Turkish Airlines deserves each of the available 5 stars when compared to any other Euro airline. If they keep this bias up, it's Sky Trax that will lose a few stars :)
I heard that there is an ongoing construction of 3rd runway , and if the plane lands on outer runway then it takes longer to reach terminals since needed to use taxiways around the construction site.But declared that it will be launched 3rd runway beginning of 2020..

I had a nice experience with Turkish Airlines, aside from a long layover in Istanbul and a 2 hour delay to get to Capetown. Onboard in coach was rather pleasant, and got an aisle seat.
I love turkish, even on a one hour flight you get a good meal. Which really surprised me when I flew them the first time

I really want to take their flights to Europe one day with their business product. Once seen your review on their flight from Beijing to Istanbul and the dining was superb, I love Turkish food very much and wanna experience that on board! What's more, their airfare is fairly cheap from Guangzhou/HK to Europe 😌
I had the very same Food just yesterday with tomato juice. It was so deliciouse. I like the food entertainment and the crew. The best product in Europe if not in the world....

Not only are they probably the best airline in the world, but their destination list is also quite interesting. They're flying to places no other major airlines fly frequently. For instance, between Taiwan and Europe, Turkish is probably the only decent choice you have. While not officially recognized as a country, at least the Taiwanese people are lucky in this sense.

I have to admit that whenever I fly TK I am amazed at how good looking their crew is. IST is a long walk even if its a transit flight. Shopping at IST is great. Great you enjoyed TK in economy as well. More often than not most airlines focused their efforts on first class and perhaps business class. I took 12 minutes me to get to my transit area. Cant wait for view your other reviews on FG and RA Risking your life eh. Take care

Awesome video! I have been to the NEW Istanbul Airport on several occasions. I do know what you mean about the long taxi times. I still think its part of its growing pains as a new airport.

I just wanted to say that I don't really like Turkey's president, but Turkish people are so kind and welcoming. I love Turkish Airlines, to be honest, the seats are so comfortable and the crew is so kind! That's what I love the most about TA haha

Turkish isn't a 3 stars airlines which is by Scamtrax. But the personalised logo on the Seatbelt was just 👍. Very rare to see that these days? The food was really interesting and the plate design too.

I like the way you select Airlines and Routes that are uncommon.
If Turkish is a 3* airline and Lufthansa is a 5* airline, based on what I've seen and travelled on, it love to know who at Lufthansa is sleeping with the head of Skytrax. Even Alitalia has direct aisle seats in business (not found on Lufthansa), and good food. Too many free trips to the first class terminal for skytrax I think.

"Long taxi"will become shorter if all the runways are completed,, they are still in construction.
A bit patient for shorter taxing,, maybe in less than a year it would be hopefully solved.
In the next 5 to 10 years construction will fully completed,, and will reach its maximum capacity of 200 million passengers yearly.
It's one of the best Airline in the world and flies to more countries than others. Specially food omg Turkish food is amazing I strongly suggest you guys to visit Istanbul and for sure you will get few pounds after your holiday 😊

Craig Willis it is long because the airport plans to handle 200 million passengers per year in the future and alot of taxi space for planes will be needed to avoid congestion etc

9 abreast on a 777? That is so rare, similar to Singapore Airlines! The seats in 9 abreast are certainly comfortable :)
I had the same experience with taxing at Istanbul.
25 minutrs from touchdown till we reached the gate (ΑΤΗ-IST)
Not all the jetbridges are complete and they want to separate domestics from international and the third runway is under construction

I enjoyed the new IST airport. I don't recall the taxi being so long, but I was busy logging any aircraft that were nearby.
i really like your comment about the crew not really smiling. its true they dont really smile much but they are brilliant. so efficient and always polite and will get anything you need very fast. they are just not the most engaging. but when they do smile and interact with you they are the most nicest people. i love flying Turkish. best airline by far

Had to laugh at your comment about the taxiing time at IST, I recently did Athens to Istanbul and I'm fairly sure the taxi it took from touch down to gate was longer than the flight.
Josh, taxiing problem will continue by end of next year, till the 3rd runway open. Both operating runways are on west side of the terminal. it is longer taxiing time, if the plane lands to 16-34 Runway and the gate is on D or F. It is shorter when the plane lands to 17-35 and if the gate is A or B. I am very happy that you enjoy flying with our country's flag carrier, Turkish Airlines.

I had Turkis airline experience in 2014 which was not pleasant. May be they improve their service, but i will check 100 times more before i get another one

The airport is beyond spectacular than other airports in the world. The food in economy class in one of the airbus a330 from Istanbul to Bucharest is not that good as you had in this video, Josh. Maybe for short flights there is not such a good food, but what I appreciated to turkish is that they managed to serve food to more than 200 people in 1,5 h flight. This is indeed amazing and I would love flying again with them in near future.

Turkish Airlines is my favourite airline and will stay that way, but Istanbul international is so big I sometimes need to walk 30 min to even get to gate.
