Hey! I'm booked to fly BA in Jan onboard their 787-8 from Bahrain. Any pointers on seat selection? I'd love to bag a good seat. What about inflight meals these days?
I flew B.A. back in the late nineties when a lot of your planes had those ethnic tail fins. I was tempted to say to the stewardess as I boarded 'someone's graffitied your tail fin'. I didn't because I didn't want to be disrespectful, but I was glad when they got rid of them.
My best experience was with United. I was going back home to Manila for my grandfather's funeral and I had to go home soon so I can say goodbye. Since my flight was purchased the night before, I chose the fastest route which connected through SFO then Manila. As with SFO, it was foggy that day and they grounded my flight for an hour which I might miss my connecting flight. I started crying then, thinking that I'll miss the funeral. The pilot came out, said words of comfort and said as soon as we had clearance, he'll fly as fast as he can. He even let me deplane before the business passengers. Alas, I still missed my connecting flight. But he went above and beyond to connect me to another flight, direct to Manila and still arrive in time for the funeral. I wish I'd gotten his name but I felt so grateful that he took care of me during this difficult time. That was one experience I'll never forget.
Thumbs up for appreciating others even in such a sad and stressful situation! The world needs more understanding like that, especially in current times...
Here's my crazy but awesome experience. In 2016, my Delta flight to Los Angeles was delayed for 6 hours due to a Bird Strike on the flaps. However, that was resolved with some parts from American Airlines as they have a Hangar in Phoenix for American. I was also on a Virgin Atlantic Flight to London Heathrow from Los Angeles and a Scandinavian Airlines flight to Copenhagen from London Heathrow. I knew we were going to miss those flights due to the severity of the delay. However, I knew there were other flights on the same day to get us there on the Same day but a few hours later. We called Virgin Atlantic, they said there wasn't one until they checked again and they said I was right! It's like I always knew something like this would happen. We were also rebooked on the next SAS flight to Copenhagen. It was at that moment when we reached London, we would learn of our seats in... Business Class to Copenhagen. That was the best vacation I have saved!!
Some years ago my wife passed out on flight 058 Cape Town to London. The crew were fantastic, they checked on her even in the terminal. Love BA. Please come back to local South African flights.
During Covid, I had a similar thing happen with no window at the back of an airbus, luckily I was able to move too. I keep making short trips from Manchester to London and it's been quite pleasant as everything is organised quite well during this time. Free snacks and water in a plastic bag with anti bacterial sachets. Right now what works for me is booking the back of the plane as it's first to board and you usually get some empty seats.
Josh, it's Chris and Suzanne. You met us in Changi plaza lounge a few weeks back. Thought you "window seat choice" was funny. We live older crew, yes they can be tired but their experience often shines through compared to young staff reciting a script. We also feel older crew are often more open to special requests for food, seating etc. Love BA.
The cabin crew are the saving grace of BA. I have never had a bad crew on my flights with them. If their office staff were the same and they stopped penny pinching, I would consider flying them more often.
jslasher1 yes I know it’s Walsh and co from IAG, however it’s the office staff who ignore complaint emails. They should be instructed by the cabin crew!
I totally agree. Use B.A, club World regularly and the cabin crew are never less than very good to outstanding. Also their business class food is excellent. I think their economy is quite bad from what I’ve heard. Isn’t it about time B.A. retired their stupid security video, it’s past it’s sell by date!
Agree too, about the crew, they are usually far more mature than a lot of other airlines...and I don't mean that in a bad way, they are generally far more experienced and totally in tune with their passengers. In fact I would go as far as to say that on a lot of my BA flights I have been made to feel like a guest on board, rather than a customer!
Great video !! I flew on this exact plane in January. Love BA crew so much- part of the whole experience and it makes me proud to be british when I fly with them !! ✈️✈️
I flew British Airways from LHR to JFK on First for my first ever time and I vlogged it, and the crew noticed I had my DLSR and GoPro camera and they said would you like us to give an introduction and I said that will be nice, they spoke into the camera and gave full flight details, names and information about the aircraft, then the service came, now I expected high service being in a first class cabin but I think I got extra perks because I was vlogging, such as the female amenity kit to vlog and keep and the business class one and I was giving an entire box of chocolates after my meal, I was taken to the Galley and shown how they make, prep food and tidy the area, the flight attendant came up to me and said to me BA don’t allow passengers in the flight deck but said she would happily take my camera and capture some scenes in there for me (without me asking). I flew BA first again the following year, this time I didn’t vlog but although I received a high class service it wasn’t anything compared to what I received when I had a vlogging camera, the camera can sometime go two ways but on this occasion it was a benefit to me!
Great video! Glad that nice flight attendant helped you to have a nice spot with a view. My best time fIying commercial was with Iberia in Spain. I asked the flight attendant if I could have a look in the cockpit. She came back after a while, inviting me to come along and I had the best experience ever meeting the pilots and such a blast just looking about everywhere and having a 180" view outside.. in 1998. Never forgot that and had to do more with that, so now learning to fly myself. Best seat will always in the cockpit imho ;-)
Hi Josh. There’s still some life in us “old crew” yet‼️🤣🤣🤣 I’ve subbed your channel since that flight & I don’t usually watch too much airline related, but I’m amazed at what happens on all the different flights you do. Keep up the good work👍 Cheers John B
This is in no way a criticism, but I had to be amused by your comment "Only 53 movies, so not much choice." How expectations have changed over the years! On one of my first flights ever, in the 1970's, I felt like a Rockefeller or something because they actually showed a movie on board! They pulled down a screen and everyone watched the same film and, boy, did we think we were hot stuff!
Quite sometime ago I snapped my elbow at the Forbidden City in Beijing. I flew BA on the way home i felt that they were very accommodating and provide exceptional customer service to make sure I was comfortable on my way home. I often find the seat pitch on BA Economy class limited to the point that i flew premium Economy last year and still found seat pitch pretty limited. Loved this review Josh. Great tour of the airport
Ive always had great service on BA, the food is good too. I’m a Brit living in the US and my first choice going home is BA. Even the time my luggage was damaged I had zero problems getting it replaced and being compensated for the shoes that were lost. I will always check BA first when I’m looking to go home. The holiday starts the minute I get on the plane.
Flew HongKong to London last week in First. Crew were spot on. A380 amazingly comfortable. Did the 787-9 to KL a few weeks before in First. Same experience. Fabulous crew. Loads of sleep. Didn’t bother with IFE, rarely do. Like to take a Night flight and rest. 787 crew were mixed fleet. A380 crew were more mature but younger than me!!🙂. Time for you to show the world the Concorde Room Josh.Staff there are amazing as well. Also the food is better!
BA are fantastic! This has happened to me twice now ( I know I should really check seatguru more often). However, once upgraded me to business 😱 and once to Premium Economy!! Unbelievable effort to keep customers happy. Definitely a salute to the wonderful BA crew.
Great video Josh. On a Boeing 737 flight from Cairns to Sydney, I asked for a seat by a window. On boarding, I discovered they'd given me a seat without a window! I mentioned this to a Cabin Crew member, although there were many seats in Premium Economy she wouldn't let me move. This is the complete opposite to your BA 787 experience. The airline I was travelling with shall remain nameless (Virgin Australia).
I always fly BA, if I fly economy, I always pre load my iPad with Netflix shows and movies to save scrolling through the IFE. especially if there’s nothing interesting on. But the crew are always great.
Before I book any flight, I check the airline, their aircraft and seat numbers by using "seatguru" its totally free. It covers most major airlines, their types of aircraft and their seating configuration for each cabin. Tells you the good seats and the ones to avoid, also leg room, charging points and IFE.
remember back in 2017, i was travelling with American Airlines from LHR to Miami, and for dessert the flight attendant gave me 4 ice-creams and that made my flight
The crew are older due the crew being on an older contract - called World Wide fleet, which ended many years ago!! Mixed fleet is the new crew contract; flying both long and short haul. It just depends on the flight and time which crew you’ll get. But mixed fleet (newer) crew still get a lot of good long haul!! Always impressed with BA crew!! Great video
I remember once flying London to Orlando as a teenager and having a seat like that with no window… so depressing. Separately, I’ve always been happy with BA flights. And I always feel safe on their planes.
Flew BA back before covid, the crew go above and beyond to make sure you're having a pleasant time and always up maintain their warmth no matter how stressful the cabin looks. I've flown Thomas Cook and received a very similar experience with the crews which makes me think its just British crews in general, the doctrine in the UK or the natural British politeness and friendliness you get. The in-flight experience is very similar to other western carriers and fairly generic but the crew definitely one of the areas where BA excels.
I think airlines should state the seat rows are windowless, bcus i believe there are people or some at times dont wish to see the sky or appreciate the lack of window or block the sunlight out if they're on a day flight
Hey Josh! Love watching your flight blogs. With Ba if you’re Bronze you get to choose your seat 7 days prior flight so you get a high chance to get window seat. If you’re Silver or Gold you get free seat selection at the time of booking ( unless exit rows in economy with silver) . Also if you don’t want to pay for you seat selection In economy , you get free seat selection 24 hours prior the departure and if you just connect to the minute ere 24 hours starts counting you a hundred percent get window seat. (only with basic economy wich has been introduced recently is not included the seat selection). I love Ba and is sad to see you many staff made redundant due to corona but I think is good for Ba to have one crew instead of three different ( from customer perspective view mean less delayed as the staff can fly Europe and long haul like mixed crew in Gatwick) Keep blogging and smile !
Whilst BA aren’t always that competitive on pricing, their cabin crew and ground staff usually always make up for the additional cost imho. Never once had someone come across rude or seem unhappy about their job.
Lost my Priority Pass and emailed the US office. Got a prompt reply and instructions on downloading a virtual card. When I got home after a further week of travel my replacement card was in my snail mailbox, so very pleased with their customer service.
I have had the same experience with AirIndia 747 when I pre-booked a window seat and got the same kinda seat you got. It was a bit annoying but I managed to sleep almost all the time in that flight haha :D
British Airways crew are renown for their excellent service. Although I’ve only flown on their short haul services, I’ve always found them to be very welcoming. Miles ahead of many other airlines! ✈️
As a frequent flyer to my second home in Thailand, I have used every possible airline, and my one gripe with BA is their food options, every time their second choice of main meal has been a vegetarian dish, as a result many times the meat dish has run out when they got to me; as vegetarian dishes are a special diet option, that means they have 2 choices and people that eat meat only get 1 choice, if at all.
If any of yall are wondering why there is no window there, it is because of air conditioning pipes and the likes passing through there. The row that these non existent windows are on varies a lot depending on which aircraft your on and what seat configuration that plane has.
Completely agree with you about BA's cabin crew. Flew with then in December Manchester to Mexico City return and the cabin crew were great, couldn't fault them what so ever. Only issue was the food was pretty crap. Would fly with them again if the price was right :o)
I would have been happy with that flight. Maybe the IFE didn't offer thousands of choices, but it would have pleased me. Good food and excellent service. Thumbs up for BA.
Lucky you! No wonder since you're a blogger blogging about the airline and flight! I've only had miserable flights on BA in economy class with extremely poor catering and awful Latin American crew out of GRU and EZE. Decent tea is the only thing good about BA in my experience. I expect a lot more since they are always much more expensive (overpriced) and the UK taxes are outrageously high on the tickets compared to other carriers and airports.
Watching this video after the Qatar A350 video. Are cafes and eateries open in Singapore airport, I’ll be there on Thursday afternoon for a 7 hour layover ?
Josh I totally get your point regarding the seat I feel the same too about baggage. One of the reasons I stick with BA is I knew my seat was included and my checked bag but now not always the case. I love BA and used to work for them and they were the best company to work for treated me really well but I am slightly on the fence with recent policies. Big thumbs up for yet another amazing video Josh I love the frequency these come through. I am looking forward to your next one. Josh your accent is so nice which country are you from ? Oh and a big thumbs up 👍 for supporting LFC I live near Liverpool they are my team ❤️
Why don't you follow me on twitter.com/gotravelyourway too? See you over there :)
Are you planning to Africa Josh someday😂.And that cabin crew was really nice.Treats you like her son.Lol did she give you a kiss.😂
Seat number. For your no window seat
Ok then follow me too hereua-cam.com/video/Tozp2uNmpLQ/v-deo.html
Josh Cahill YES 2 BENCE BLS
Hey! I'm booked to fly BA in Jan onboard their 787-8 from Bahrain. Any pointers on seat selection? I'd love to bag a good seat.
What about inflight meals these days?
Josh, thank you so much, as a senior BA crew member, I really needed this video, today more than ever, see you on board soon I hope
How have things been for you recently?
Hope you don’t mind, but I’m BA crew and have shared your video on our intranet to show how simple things can make flying enjoyable!
Hope BA pulls through this coronavirus ok - love you
Carey Grant that’s very kind of you. Scary times ahead
Such a good point. Simple gesture helped improve his trip.
I flew B.A. back in the late nineties when a lot of your planes had those ethnic tail fins. I was tempted to say to the stewardess as I boarded 'someone's graffitied your tail fin'. I didn't because I didn't want to be disrespectful, but I was glad when they got rid of them.
REALLY hope you'll be back flying soon Gary .....

That's too long writing
@cool guy the pilot probably said that to make him feel comfortable

Awww what a sweet attendant
Some years ago my wife passed out on flight 058
Cape Town to London. The crew were fantastic, they checked on her even in the terminal. Love BA. Please come back to local South African flights.
I fly between New York and London a lot and I always prefer to fly with BA because the crew is so genuinely friendly.
I'd always go for Norwegian
I used to Concorde frequently.
Now not anymore.
I fly Delta.
I go virgin atlantic and british airways. Maybe world's top 2 cabin crew
During Covid, I had a similar thing happen with no window at the back of an airbus, luckily I was able to move too. Being a professional cabin crew experience definetely matters!!!
Amanda looks so polite, social and of course professional!
You relax me when I’m stressed. Yours is the only travel blog I watch.
Seat guru is the answer. They tell you about the seats of all the aircraft of most airlines. I always check the sight befire I pick my seats.
Glad to hear BA is doing good. I’ve never heard complaints about their customer service on board. Awesome review Josh and please stay safe!❤️👍✈️
I got kinda emotional when I saw G-ZBJK. My first international and long haul flight was with her. Great to see she's still flying and beautiful!
The cabin crew are the saving grace of BA. I have never had a bad crew on my flights with them. If their office staff were the same and they stopped penny pinching, I would consider flying them more often.

As crew, I’m feeling proud which I haven’t for sometime! Thanks Josh👍
long live British Airways for knowing someone is vlogging and providing the best service...
The opening of the video....such a tease.
02:26 The exact same ‘bleep bloop’ for the announcements as at Heathrow T5!
Francesco Bellringer omg it is!
I love that sound
RazorRush KrypticEye with the ping pong pakong!!
It's the same as Delhi T3 too!
This is in no way a criticism, but I had to be amused by your comment "Only 53 movies, so not much choice." How expectations have changed over the years! Hats off to BA! Great flight you had! 👏

Its My birthday! The best present is watching ypu Josh and you posting on my BIrthday! Thank you!
Yo Josh thanx a ton for Addressing the vistara B787-9 comment. It really takes a lot to address the views of your viewers
Thanks Josh for another honest review!
My heart sunk for you when you realised you had no window - had this trouble on a 320neo!! Luckily you got another seat
Ive always had great service on BA, the food is good too. I’m a Brit living in the US and my first choice going home is BA. Pleased to see a good BA review!
Currently “grounded” myself, but hoping to take to the skies again soon🛫
That was nice , tha the stewardess was so accommodating to move you !
Josh, you are a travel vlogger whom I trust. Can you please do a vid on how the current world crisis affects travel and UA-cam vloggers?
Hi Josh.
Love your honest reports and your sense of humour 🤣
Thank you for providing a link to the travel pass. I like when UA-camrs provide links to the services they talk about. 😃👍
Flew HongKong to London last week in First. Crew were spot on. A380 amazingly comfortable. Did the 787-9 to KL a few weeks before in First. Same experience. Fabulous crew. Loads of sleep. Time for you to show the world the Concorde Room Josh.Staff there are amazing as well. Also the food is better!
jslasher1 Never had the privilege. Never Will. The Concorde Room keeps the name alive.
Dude you're flying first class...they should behave
Use Seatguru to avoid picking a windowless window seat
o wow. I think you should write her a complimentary letter. I think the crew deserves it.
Wonderful Coverage . Enjoyed it totally . The weather was really awesome seen while landing at LHR .
Well Josh , the old saying goes {that It cost nothing to be nice to other people} Excellent review....
3:35 the feeling of realisation that "oh there's no window🙃" I can feel how you felt 😂😂😂😂
BA are fantastic! This has happened to me twice now ( I know I should really check seatguru more often). However, once upgraded me to business 😱 and once to Premium Economy!! Unbelievable effort to keep customers happy. Definitely a salute to the wonderful BA crew.

I flew British airways a long time ago good to see they have introduced entertainment as they didn’t have that at all when I flew them.
I always fly BA, if I fly economy, I always pre load my iPad with Netflix shows and movies to save scrolling through the IFE. especially if there’s nothing interesting on. But the crew are always great.

Another terrific video, Josh
remember back in 2017, i was travelling with American Airlines from LHR to Miami, and for dessert the flight attendant gave me 4 ice-creams and that made my flight
I am really looking forward for another PIA video
OMG the Cabin crew is John, he was also my Cabin crew on my flight from DXB to LHR. What a coincidence

Separately, I’ve always been happy with BA flights. And I always feel safe on their planes.
While introducing and commenting on things when you say 'YES' or "Yeah' its like interactive and the whole thing become lively.
Great content
I been watching a lot of travel channels and i have to say yours is the best so far. Sadly i have watch most of your videos I need more videos 😅
I can't believe that anyone with your flying experience wouldn't check out the seating plan in advance. I always do this before reserving my seat.
I do it 90% of the time too, but I guess the problem is BA selling it as a window seat.
Well done!!..... Your definitely doing what you should be doing in life!... 👍.... One of the best channels on UA-cam!!........... Cheers!!.
I think airlines should state the seat rows are windowless, bcus i believe there are people or some at times dont wish to see the sky or appreciate the lack of window or block the sunlight out if they're on a day flight
Ohh very nice crew members and I like british airways also they are always lovely with all 🥰🥰😍
Great job unc
The crew was so classy. After the others I've seen on your channel.
Your best video yet Josh.
Hi Josh,Love from Turkey 🇹🇷

well done to the crew member!
Omg ur videos are great!!😍😍
I love your videos Josh I wish I could travel frequently like you!
Did someone notice Josh and simply aviation both started of the video from DOH
Whilst BA aren’t always that competitive on pricing, their cabin crew and ground staff usually always make up for the additional cost imho. Never once had someone come across rude or seem unhappy about their job.

That was a very kind gesture from the crew 👏😁 I hope to fly with them one day
Completely agree with you about BA's cabin crew. Flew with then in December Manchester to Mexico City return and the cabin crew were great, couldn't fault them what so ever. Only issue was the food was pretty crap. Would fly with them again if the price was right :o)
British Airlines, as a business, has been saved by their employees (excluding the accounting department). Then coronavirus arrived. Hope they make it.
Your facial expression before and after getting the window seat are night and day haha
that’s why I always doublecheck on seatguru :)
Cheers Mate
British Airways rock!!!!
Surely you would have checked SeatGuru to avoid this issue on all 787s
Try seatguru next time. Nice crew
I had that with a domistic flight from Narita to chubu nagoya 787-8 have this
Have to say -- it is the best payment for your best seat ............Like it
