I just keep learning so much from y’all. Sciency stuff on bubble gum notes to relationship advice to parenting ideas. What ever would I do without you 2
I first had Ragged Branch by picking up their offerings from the cancelled 2020 NOLA Bourbon Festival. They were a lovely Barrel Proof Rye and a Barrel Proof Double Oaked. Both were hitters and I snagged them at $40 each. Amazing.
I was down in Charlottesville a few days ago, but couldn't get away long enough to visit Ragged Branch. I did get some of their Signature Bourbon with a meal, but couldn't try their other things. Seeing your review, I'm kicking myself now for missing it. I'll have to see if I can find a way to get a bottle shipped to me or something.
I enjoy Ragged Branch's offerings. For a "craft" distiller, their bourbons are not that much higher prices than the macro distillers. Also, when I visited the Ragged Branch distillery a couple years back, they had beef cows on the farm there. Supposedly they feed some of the mash(?) to the cows. I don't know if that adds to the flavor of the beef they sell as I didn't buy any, but thought that was interesting.
I think Captain92Morgan was saying you should review two whiskeys in each episode to reduce the back log.......See five minutes of padding you could have done a whole other whiskey in that time..............
I think they understand just fine, but that would still mean drinking twice as many whiskies in days that they shoot videos. Each video isn’t shot on its own day, they batch shoot these a week at a time, so if they tried to double it that would mean drinking double the amount of whiskies on that day, which rightfully so they are unwilling to do
Last year's Double Oaked Wheated Rickhouse Reserve from Ragged Branch is one of the best I've had. Waiting on this year's release along with a Double Oaked BIB & an Rye.
This is the only wheated bourbon I've ever found a sample bottle of, and it straight-up tastes like stale bread to me. I guess my pallet isn't sophisticated enough for its nuances, but I'm glad someone else likes it. I'll stick to Buffalo Trace.
My ex-wife gave my son a pair of scissors and told him to go cut the grass in the backyard. She had been drinking at the time, I get a call from my son telling me he wants to move in with me. Let's just say he moved in with me. I still laugh at the call and the outcome to this day. It was great to have my son under my roof.
Just a funny question, what's your favorite breakfast cereal and would you ever consider having it with whiskey instead of milk And if so what would be a cereal-whiskey pairing
Had the perfect thought with the mention of two videos a day and the complaint that sometimes arises: Have Emma and Brianna review things that have already been reviewed and are readily accessible.
Doubtful that my comment would see the light of day, but I do actually have a legit whiskey conundrum that needs a serious answer. I had to move in with my mother to take care of her in her failing physical health, and along with me came my whiskey collection and my love for the hobby, my mom has a "they're drinking something alcoholic in nature therefore they MUST be an addicted alcoholic" mentality, and because a couple (literally only two) people in the family did become alcoholics earlier in their lives, she clings to those examples as proof that her view on booze is 100% correct for all people, despite my best attempts to get her to see reason and make her realize that I am in fact capable of moderation and capable of learning from the mistakes of others. I love my mom as every child should, but it's starting to get at me mentally to hear my mom tell me that she "knows for a fact" that I'm turning into an alcoholic because that's what always happens. I've willingly gave up drinking entirely before and proved to her there were no bottles at all in the house, but all that did was make her think I progressed to hiding them like alcoholics do. What the hell can I do? I don't want to move out and leave her in the hands of state caregivers, but if she won't stop or at least compromise in some way, I see no other option for me.
We love ragged branch, and have done multiple reviews on their line! We have a close relationship with Alex Toomy the owner! This wheated bourbon doesn't even stack up against the double oaked bourbons they have out!
Very interesting review! Sad thing: I live in Virginia and had never heard of them! And in this ridiculous ABC state, I have to drive 2-3 counties over to even find this Bourbon! Or 2+ hours to the distillery in Charlottesville! Which sells it as a Virginia ABC store. Be thankful you can buy liquor at Total Wine in Texas…
What does that have to do with being an ABC state? I live in VA and all of the ABC stores near me have Ragged Branch. The distillery does not do any advertising as far as I'm aware. If we weren't in an ABC state what makes you think it would be any different? All small distillers have to pick and choose where they sell their goods until they are a big enough operation to be more widespread.
Have any MB’s experienced loss of smell and taste to having covid? I recently lost both due to covid and I am pretty disappointed about it. I am thinking of buying or putting together an aroma kit to start training my nose/ taste back to health. Have any of you done this? I wake up every morning and sniff my peated whiskeys to test my sniffer, still nothing. So much sad to be had.
A co-worker's wife recently contracted covid and lost all sense of taste, which is what tipped her off to it. No other symptoms. He said it took about 4 days but her sense of taste started to come back. I haven't talked to him since (still in quarantine) but most people I've read about usually regain it all given a little bit of time.
@@louisvillebmxr yes but the question being about a wheated rye, like Makers Mark bourbon where the second grain in the mashbill is wheat. In rye the secondary grain is usually corn or malt.
I just had a odd thought. I wonder how often a whiskey is named something to plant the suggestion of a flavor so they don't think down a "bad" path. Such as suggesting "branch" so you think woody or tree sap instead of a more unfavorable description.
I dislike this whiskey and their rye… I rated this low on my tasting chart. This will not get back into my selection for a loooong time.. the furniture polish is the taste that turned me off. Man I do love this episode because it reminds me of the punishments I received as a lad in the Caribbean islands 🥃👍🏽🇰🇳🇻🇮😂
Hey guys, I need some relationship advice. My girlfriend of 6 years says she will break up with my if I don't stop drinking whisky. So my question for you is; what type of scotch should I buy? Highland? Islay?
Honestly, this episode clearly illustrates what makes your content great: You are genuinely having fun. The positive energy is absolutely contagious!

I love their whiskey! Plus Ragged Branch Distillery is beautiful.
This is by far my favorite whiskey in my cabinet
"I don't need a woman if I've got whiskey" new crowded barrel T-shirt
"Cigarettes and whiskey and wild, wild women... They'll drive you crazy, they'll drive you insane!"
Good afternoon you bastards of tremendous magnificence.

Ragged branches rye is probably the best rye I’ve ever had
Agreed!
Double oaked signature is a must try and one of my all-time favorites for what a traditional bourbon should taste, IMHO
Thank you Rex Paddington and Daniel Stretchmore. Excellent advice show. You should do these with some whiskey.

You guys should get Brianna and Emma to review any benevolent bottles.
Great video as always. I wonder. If you actually mix together all, what you get on the nose and try to drink it :)) .."furniture polish, coffee.... "
Ahhhhh… Greetings and lubrications you MBs! 🥃🥃🥃
Just a funny question, what's your favorite breakfast cereal and would you ever consider having it with whiskey instead of milk

Good Morning Gentlemen.
Rex and Daniel the modern day Masters and Johnson
Umami is the word for rich, savory flavors
GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S.... 🥃
Daniel, I volunteer my liver as sacrifice to the channel. I will gladly take the second half of your two-a-days.
Welcome to the relationship advice vault
Evergreen forest
I get a lot of that too
Thunder and lightning
I've been single for ten years. What can I do to find the perfect mate? And will having a noticeable whiskey collection help me in this endeavor? 🖖😂🥃
Stay far away from leftist broads and Xionist right wingers.... Good luck
Good day gentlemen. Do you have a list of American single malts you've shown on the show? And which ones would you recommend.
A beautiful distillery that raises cattle too
Can women use the same logic we don't need men we just need whiskey?
Had the perfect thought with the mention of two videos a day and the complaint that sometimes arises: Have Emma and Brianna review things that have already been reviewed and are readily accessible.
Love the story at the end.

Wow. This situation honestly sounds really hard. I am sorry you are having to go through it right now.

Padding. *insert Kylo Ren shouting MORE*
Ok vanilla ice "give me a problem yo I'll solve it" 8:06
Lots of good whiskey coming out of Virginia these days 😁
Try the Ragged Branch Cowboy Cut..
I call for more scooter shenanigans, or shenanigans in general.
2 a days. but 1 set is Emma and Brianna
but that would it be like if you planned to maximize the bubblegum note? I would be interested in having some of that.
You spelled the name right on the bottle but not in the montage lol. Cheers!
"If we shoot two a days, we would die." I'm willing to take that chance
Maybe make yer Monday episode a dual bottle. 🤣🤣
If you pad, may you pad for a friend... and if you pad.... may you... pad.. with us?
What happened to the jeans? Changing work uni’s?
11:57 I can't decide whether the frame shifting is to emphasize the meta-commentary on the episode or just a really stupid padding joke
If I have run out of room for bottles... do i finish what i have, or get more storage?!
Got a question for the Ewok Somme, i was wondering the impacts or even if you can age whiskey in Hungarian Oak barrels? Asking for a friend
New channel name, "Two dads drinking whiskey"
What does it mean for a relationship where the whiskey grabs more of my attention than my significant other?
Your better half loves you,I think.
Well padded episode indeed!

do your Wives say go to work you always come home happier?
Pad away, friends, pad away.
We sell these at 40 percent off now at the shop
Wonder how Ragged Branch would have stood up to ice and/or water. It would have added some more time. Just sayin...
Late to the party… training! Good day! Later limerick!!!
Women and whiskey, oh my!
Sipping bourbon on the fly!
Ask for advice,
Never think twice,
Wait for it, nothing goodbye!

Still no Redbrest on the back shelf
Lagavulin is back
Daniel I hope you removed all the sandspurs, the painful bane of all bare foot kids, out of the lawn!
"Wow that was quick"
*Still 5 minutes left in the video*
Are there any wheated rye whiskies?
There are four/4 grain whiskies that have both wheat and rye along with the corn and malted barley.
@@louisvillebmxr yes but the question being about a wheated rye, like Makers Mark bourbon where the second grain in the mashbill is wheat. In rye the secondary grain is usually corn or malt.
Wait, where was the advice?!
I see something branch. You can bet it's Virginia.

Wonder what path Monkey Shoulder means for you to take.
im still single guys....
I wish I could not like sex like rex!
Can we please get serious here? This is a whiskey channel, gentlemen. It’s not supposed to be fun!
I thought Esther's were the name Daniel gave his pervert accent.
