- The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a fantastical morality tale, set in the present-day. It tells the story of Dr. Parnassus and his extraordinary Imaginarium, a travelling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom.
Blessed with the extraordinary gift of guiding the imaginations of others, Doctor Parnassus is cursed with a dark secret. An inveterate gambler, thousands of years ago he made a bet with the devil, Mr. Nick, in which he won immortality. Centuries later, on meeting his one true love, Dr. Parnassus made another deal with the devil, trading his immortality for youth, on condition that when his daughter reached her 16th birthday, she would become the property of Mr Nick.
Valentina is now rapidly approaching this coming of age milestone and Dr. Parnassus is desperate to protect her from her impending fate. Mr. Nick arrives to collect but, always keen to make a bet, renegotiates the wager. Now the winner of Valentina will be determined by whoever seduces the first five souls. Enlisting a series of wild, comical and compelling characters in his journey, Dr. Parnassus promises his daughters hand in marriage to the man that helps him win.
In this captivating, explosive and wonderfully imaginative race against time, Dr. Parnassus must fight to save his daughter in a never-ending landscape of surreal obstacles and undo the mistakes of his past once and for all!

No that's HIS voice. He's a talented actor that has played several parts. People need to stop thinking that playing the Joker killed him. It didn't. His voice and movements may look similar because it's the same person!!
I would not be able to handle being that actress. Nope. Not once, not never.
You really can hear the hints of the Joker in his voice and movements, that's true!
This movie made me sad, the first time watching it, all due to knowing why Heath suddenly is replace by many other actors... I miss Heath too. =(

I don't see the Joker but I see him trying to make an incredible transformation once more after the Joker. :) He transformed the way he talked and moved to create such a character and that's amazing.
Joker style! Just love him <3. Such a pity, really :(

One thing I found very weird from the first time I saw this was how they sexualized valentina. Pretty sure at the beginning she says something like I am almost 16, almost legal. They could have changed it to 18 when mr nick wanted her soul making her nearly 18 instead of 15 while the story takes place. Andrew Garfield was the only character who did not seem creepy for liking her. The rest were men in their 30s or 40s.
I was very hurt when Johnny appeared and Heath left this very painful movie
His moves, his style, even the voice are possessed with the Joker syndrome

Okay, did anyone else think the midget at the end was hilarious? I burst out laughing at that part.
Yep, it's brilliant but very complicated.
To me, this movie is a lot more interesting than his batman movie, so it's always weird to me that so many of the comments here or on imdb are about this comic book movie instead of the really fascinating Terry Gilliam film that we could be talking about.
