- The history of shampoo; all it took was grease and ashes; the difference between soap and detergent; the pH of soap; glycerine byproducts; Sodium Laureth Sulfate; soap floats; evolution of soap to detergent to bottled shampoo; lecture by Chemist S. Miller from Gable's Cosmetics. A must see for cosmetologists, beauty school students, shampoo salespeople, salon professionals, hairdressers, and general public. Very interesting.
he explains it without using fancy words long words easy to understand
Excellent lecturer, and the teacher is so interesting and practical.
It depends; are you asking as a consumer or a stylist who would like to bottle his/her own products. All I can say, is that you have to find your own market and meet their demands and create a shampoo and conditioner for them: it could be sulfate free demand, or healthy shampoos, scent free or lather free, fast rinsing, long luxurious shampoo experience product, etc. It all depends on demand and offer...
That will work! But consumers like variety: shampoo for dry hair, for oily, dandruff shampoo, shampoo that gives volume, etc.
why don't we use castile soap in shampoo anymore? You hear so many "bad" things about sulfates and wanting to go natural but you never see shampoos with castile soap maybe unless its a shampoo bar. Can castile soap replace your detergent in a shampoo formula?
Castille soap or any soap made with lye is harsh on the skin and hair and prone to leaving residue. I used to make Castille soap but stopped because it wasn’t to my liking in terms of mildness and always left residue everywhere in the shower, glass, and container. There’s so many misinformation on the internet from misinformed DIYers so be careful. Any ingredient can be “bad” when used in excessive amounts.
very funny guy! Useful.
You welcome!
Beauty supplies offer better shampoo options, try to get your shampoo from supply stores in your area.
i still love this, thank you so much!

How much do professional formulators charge to develop a product like a shampoo?
I asked him, and he said that you have to have a required amount to order because he makes a barrel or more; a small amount is harder to do, and then you have to decide whether you want a pump or a bottle top; that is the most expensive item believe it or not. Formulation is the easiest decision. So, pump or no pump; that is the question. 😉
so what is a natural product we can buy? i done want buildup on my head..lol
