thank you! glad to hear you enjoyed it. I’m still quite addicted as well, been playing adventure mode and gonna start my second full run soon. can’t wait for the first DLC to come out!
it's amazing. i'm doing an Adventure Mode run on N'Eurd right now, and it feels like the zone is twice as large as it was on my first playthrough. just incredible
definitely agree. i wouldn't mind if they do keep a cap, but i'd like to see it raised a bit. i've almost maxed mine out and i haven't even started a second full campaign run yet
thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’m happy to hear the game was at least memorable, if not totally enjoyable for you. it’s definitely isn’t something that everyone is going to sink a ton of time into, but i think it’s worth at least checking out, for the combat and bosses alone
glad you enjoyed the review! I want to engage with the community as much as possible, so you’ll find me in the comments quite a bit for each video I put out
When you mentioned the abomination I immediately got a tingle on the back of my neck. The abomination was the first boss I had to face in my first play through, I was underleveled, under-prepared, and over confident. I refused to leave the dungeon and try to level up my archetype, I refused to farm for crafting supplies to upgrade my weapons, and as a result it took me 5 days, playing for 2 hours each day, to beat that boss. Now if you asked me a month ago if the abomination was a poorly designed boss, I would have told you that it is by far the worst boss in any souls-like game ever made. But in hindsight it was really just a combination of bad luck and arrogance that caused him to be a thorn in my side. I started my first play through on nightmare difficulty, probably a mistake, but I don’t regret it now, I was also 2 levels under the dungeon and didn’t want to leave, my weapons were still +1, and the boss had a very annoying modifier combo of Hearty+regenerator. The boss sure was an annoying fight, and the mechanics weren’t great, but I also made it more difficult than it needed to be. I still don’t like the abomination, but after going back he feels more like an annoying elite enemy than a boss encounter, even on apocalypse.
i’ve seen a lot of people share similar sentiments, and I want to reroll and see if I can get the boss fight again to compare notes from my first time. i ran into it about halfway through my first play through, so i was a little more geared up but it was still an absolute pain. I’m curious to see how I feel about it the next go-around now that I have a solid build and more time with the game
Great review. I was a massive fan of the first one and it warms my heart to finally see it get the recognition the first one admittedly deserved also. One of the best games this year ive played... 3 DLCs planned 🔥
thank you, glad you enjoyed it! same here, I’m so happy to see the reception it’s gotten so far and I’m sure the DLCs will make it even better. can’t wait for the first one to come out
There's so many rings, amulets and necklaces. You can take them to other NPCs and get other items, combine 2 items to get an item. Alternate kill rewards for world bosses. The cult that data mined how to get through the glitched red door in the Labyrinth... what you have to get and what's inside. There's so much love put into this game.
Hard disagree on Abomination. It was the first boss I fought, and I only died once. Shooting the explosives on the ground as the boss rolled over them to stun it felt good when I figured it out, and the audio cues let me know exactly where it was at all times. It's psychic attacks are blocked by the giant pillars, and the adds are slow, dont overwhelm, and got pulverized by the boss before another wave could spawn. I thought it was a very well-designed encounter. I fought that enemy earlier on the surface, so I already knew to shoot off the armor plates. The Cube™ on the other hand is one of the worst video game experiences I've ever had.
see I thought the cube boss was great. it’s cool how there are so many different kinds of bosses that people can disagree so much on them but still enjoy the game overall. i haven’t fought the Abomination since my first run, but next time I’ll see if I feel any differently about the fight
@@JayTalksGames Yeah, the game is wonderful. Remnant is the only series, besides Final Fantasy to have more than 1 title make it into my personal GOAT folder. The Cube™ is a cakewalk on subsequent playthroughs, because I suffered so much the first time. I just have trauma now. Loved the video.
@@MerchantGhost totally understand that. i am not looking forward to seeing the Abomination again, that's for sure. glad you enjoyed the video and appreciate the respectful conversation!
Great review! This game is fantastic. I would say it almost compares to elden ring, for me at least. Also the final boss in this game I think beats Melania in difficulty. Everytime I play a new play through I continuously still find new stuff. Even when I spend hours combing through the map.
thank you! glad you enjoyed it. i feel the same exact way, been doing Adventure Mode Runs ever since my first completion and i am constantly finding new stuff. feels like i haven't even scratched the surface yet
after watching the whole video, i just have one question, why u dont use your melee weapon?, i saw multiple oportunitties for you to clear a few enemies with just 1 hit of your melee weapon but instead you just run and shoot them , why? most of my playtrough i played it using my melee weapon .
I actually had this problem in Remnant 1 as well, where I kinda forget to use my melee weapon/overlook it. I’ve been doing a second run playing on controller and noticed that (for me at least) melee feels a lot more natural than it did on MNK, so that could be part of the problem as well. I’m definitely trying to be better about it though!
Gotta say, after beating the Abomination boss twice, I only did it a third time because that was the roll where I could get the pulse rifle. Rerolling to avoid that pain in the ass from here on out.
Only two things I wish were included were some sort of transmog and load out additions. Transmog to make our characters look different and load outs so it’s easier to change gear. I have a farm build, a boss build and an over-world build that I keep having to change into. Hopefully 🤞
agreed! one of the devs said a while back that loadouts are on their radar, so hopefully that’s something we’ll get in the future? haven’t seen anything about transmog, but I totally agree with that too. i like my armor but I’d love to switch the style sometimes
Loving this game. My only issue is my own love of build crafting. Even if I find something I like I think, this is cool, but lets try to see if this other combo is also fun. It seems like the first run flowthrough is, select an archetype, move through till you get your second and move forward there. Select a weapon find more and figure out what you like, then select two and move forward. My ass was leveling 5 weapons and 5 classes off and on switching classes for different bosses changing mods... and on and on. I like variation and experimentation. Either way it made me SO WEAK when I got to the end I had to do some adventure runs to get up to spec. I'd distributed instead of specializing and the last bits were a nightmare. I'm no master souls dodger either so it was quite difficult. I ended up maxing out Gunslinger, Engineer, and Medic before I completed my first run.
that’s interesting, I haven’t heard that perspective before but it totally makes sense. I stuck with the same 3-4 weapons for most of my first playthrough, and now I’m working on leveling up some others before I try doing a Nightmare run. and working on leveling up my other archetypes too. there’s so much to grind, and I absolutely love it
Sorry, if there's anything I remember from From the Ashes, it's that the gunplay did NOT feel as good as I would like it to be. Perhaps this is the reason why I appreciate Remnant 2 so much more. That it has made huge improvements in these departments.
do you recall what you didn’t like about it in particular? I don’t remember disliking it at all, but it’s been a bit since I’ve played the first game. at least the gunplay in Remnant 2 feels better for you, I’ve been enjoying it on MNK and controller both so far
200+ hours of play still not bored. I played all Dark souls type games and this is the best second only to Elden ring. This game is great !!! It has flaws so what game of the year hands down.
there are so many excellent games that have already come out this year, or still are, but i can definitely see it being GOTY for a lot of folks. it's certainly good enough to be in the conversation
Well said and agree on everything but "looks"! I didn't play 1st remnant but I'm into 2, the artistic theme is outstanding but graphics are a little shy, still good just not great in my opinion. I'll be playing this game for awhile. Good video thanks!
thank you, glad you enjoyed it! for me the graphical improvements from the first game to the second are what stood out the most (and the continuation of the first game’s visuals). definitely agree that it’s not the best looking game on the market, but I can’t help loving the art style. hope you continue to enjoy your time with it!
I actually liked the meatball/abomination boss fight, the two worst boss fights for me are the firebomb lady from losum, and the sewer slug boss also from losom.
haha hearing it called "meatball" actually makes me hate it a little less now. i haven't fought the sewer slug, but i agree with you on the fire lady, she was a pain to fight as well. felt like i could never see her long enough to actually shoot her
i totally agree! if TotK and BG3 hadn’t released this year, I think Remnant 2 would have GOTY locked down. we’ve been blessed with so many good games and the year isn’t even over yet
agreed! I’m grinding trait points and gear in Adventure mode now, almost hit the trait cap so once I do I think I’ll try a Nightmare run and see how that goes
The armor took a change to be more cosmetic, as that was a big annoyance during the first game. Having a certain set of armor for the bonuses it gave, tied you to looking awful in cases. I much prefer this system now where I can choose how I look and not have to worry about if the bonus could benefit me. As for adding an armor mod system? I am against this as the builds currently in the game are powerful as they are, and the armor system could throw things off too much.
it can be hard to strike that balance between style and functionality sometimes. personally, I’d still like armor to have a little more customization/impact on your build, but there’s so much other gear to grind for that adding another layer of stats might be too much. curious to see if they change anything in the future
@@JayTalksGames Would be interesting to see if they come up with anything for the armor customization such as armor mods to have it similar to the first game. Allowing the players to keep unique fashion but have something like armor mutators, or something around that system.
One negative is that the veteran difficulty (as a first playthrough) is hard at first (also depends on which area u get) but later on it becomes trivial with the amount of build crafting and how good some mods are Edit: also the achievements could be harder to get, most are unlocked just through playing, there is no unlock all rings achievement or any which is actually hard to acquire, which in my eyes as a completionist is sad
I noticed that as well, definitely felt way more comfortable by the end of the game playing on Veteran i am not an achievement hunter so I haven’t looked into that very much, but now I’m curious. gonna take a look and see what I still haven’t unlocked yet, and hopefully they can add some more intensive trophies down the line
Considering there are items you can only get in multiplayer I'm kinda glad it isn't a requirement to get everything (one of those kinda people that play the game solo unless I have buddies already into it)
@@JayTalksGames at least they only effect stuff in multiplayer (minus a trait being the only one that effects solo play "glutton" is the only thing I'm aware of)
@@JayTalksGames most are just unlocked from playing the game but others can be fun to try to figure out or hunt down by yourself, also you have a goal which is nice
Remnant 2 despite beeing called Remnant 2 is actually the third game in this franchise: Chronos: Before the Ashes was the first game than Remnant: From the ashes and now Remnant 2.
Borderlands 2 was probably the best sequel i ever played. And borderlands hasnt been that good since. But remnant 2 is just amazing. Oh also resistance 2 for those of us old enough. Also lost planet 2( we dont talk about 3)
the underrated part was directed at the first game, definitely agree with you that this one is getting all the love it deserves. glad to see it this time around
glad you enjoyed the review! so, i actually felt the same way about the second phase the first ~10 times i did it, then all of a sudden something clicked for me and i stopped having issues after that. can definitely understand why some people might not like it though
@@JayTalksGamesyeah I thought it was really hard (and it was on my first play through on veteran), but on my nightmare run I killed him on my second go. He’s really not bad once you get some experience in the game
That depends on what you didn't like about the first one. The gameplay is much more refined, the replayability is better and basically has improved on every aspect. But if the baseline gameplay loop didn't appeal to you, you're likely not to like it. I guess if I were to overly simplify, if you hated pizza, wouldn't matter how well made a pizza was made, you'd likely not like it.
If i could add one thing to this game it would be mutators that can be placed into skills to add another layer of variation. You only get to use 2 skills at a time so adding some customization to those skills would make them feel more expansive
that is a massive problem. not speaking on it was an oversight on my part during the review, and it is definitely worth mentioning so I do appreciate people highlighting it
see I kinda view Chronos as it’s own thing, especially since it was originally released as a VR title. would you recommend playing it on PC or console? I might pick it up and try it out, I’ve always been curious about it but I can’t handle VR games and ports can be hit-or-miss
@@JayTalksGames I would recommend getting it for PC, it's on steam. Chronos is definitely part of the series. It follows the same story and they reference the main character from the first game a few times in both Remnants, the people of Yeasha call them the destroyer, for story reasons.
I feel you're going more by emotions than actual merit. This game feels really good to play but otherwise is incredibly flawed, which is something you omitted. It's not "perfect". Once the hype cools down I'd like you to revisit this game on your own from a more unbiased perspective
what are some things about the experience you found are flawed? I definitely plan on coming back and playing it more when each DLC comes out, so that will give me a chance to replay it later when a different perspective
i think one of the great things about it is it's worth at least one full playthrough for the combat and bosses alone, even if you don't plan on grinding it like crazy after
@@JayTalksGames the part where you could "reach out and touch the trees" and "I thought I was in elden ring for a moment!". Just some examples. The overall vocal tone reminded me of 5th grade when we'd speak in front of the class for a book report or show and tell.
@@JayTalksGamesSo far it has, haven’t crashed yet so that’s a HUGE plus, probably gonna put the game down until the dlc drops (whenever that will be) because I’ve gotten all I can out if it, and I’d like to give them time to update the game more.
@@Qballiz2kool that's great to hear! and totally understandable, hopefully by the time the first DLC rolls around all the major issues will be ironed out, plus there will be even more gameplay to enjoy
i agree with most of this but theres also a whole bunch of instant kill cheap trap deaths and elden ringification in here which really sours the otherwise admittedly perfect sense of exploration
I did have some performance issues but they were few and far between. were your issues on console or PC? I think they are releasing a patch to improve console performance sometime soon
why is every content creator thats promoted by the algorithm doing the fake gay girl voice all of a sudden. I have a feeling the algorithm is hard at work
Gimmicky bosses, a final boss that takes the cake as being the worst boss in any game, clunky movement, crappy looting and xp leveling system that turns a 15 hour game into a 200 hour game....going to have to agree to disagree....this is far from perfection, the first game was considerably better.
i gotta be honest, i think you are the first person i've seen who didn't love the final boss. what about that fight did you dislike so much? i personally thought it was awesome, but i'm curious to hear what someone who didn't enjoy it has to say
@@JayTalksGameshonestly think it’s a skill issue or irritation to visual stimuli. It’s just about the best tango I’ve ever had against any boss. I wonder what specifically people don’t like? Or how much time they’ve put towards the boss. I’ve fought the last boss for about 8 hours total, loss after loss I realized I was just having a good time.

thank you! i'm glad you enjoyed it
Borderlands 2 is the best example of how to improve every single aspect of your video game.
BL2 is an amazing sequel, kinda surprised I forgot to mention it tbh
Remnant 2 despite beeing called Remnant 2 is actually the third game in this franchise: Chronos: Before the Ashes was the first game than Remnant: From the ashes and now Remnant 2.
i actually forgot Chronos existed 0_0 I also didn’t realize they ported it over from VR, is it any good? looks like reviews on Steam are a bit mixed
Borderlands 2 was probably the best sequel i ever played. And borderlands hasnt been that good since. But remnant 2 is just amazing. Oh also resistance 2 for those of us old enough. Also lost planet 2( we dont talk about 3)
ooh true, Borderlands 2 is definitely a banger. kinda surprised I forgot to mention it tbh. lost planet 2 was also fire, such a good game
@JayTalksGames yes I'm still upset lost planet went the direction it did smfh. That killed the series smfh
I wouldn't go so far as to say this game is underrated. But yes this game is pretty close to perfection.
the underrated part was directed at the first game, definitely agree with you that this one is getting all the love it deserves. glad to see it this time around
Great review but did you say the last boss was a masterclass???? Most broken mechanics and cheap fight in years, original for sure.
glad you enjoyed the review! so, i actually felt the same way about the second phase the first ~10 times i did it, then all of a sudden something clicked for me and i stopped having issues after that. can definitely understand why some people might not like it though
@@JayTalksGamesyeah I thought it was really hard (and it was on my first play through on veteran), but on my nightmare run I killed him on my second go. He’s really not bad once you get some experience in the game
But, if i did not like the first, will I like this one?
That depends on what you didn't like about the first one. The gameplay is much more refined, the replayability is better and basically has improved on every aspect. But if the baseline gameplay loop didn't appeal to you, you're likely not to like it.
I guess if I were to overly simplify, if you hated pizza, wouldn't matter how well made a pizza was made, you'd likely not like it.
mmm, pizza. Now you went and did it. Thx for reply. I guess it was the souls likeness about it I did not like. So, I better pass. Thx
@@mrgauth 😂 no problem.
If i could add one thing to this game it would be mutators that can be placed into skills to add another layer of variation. You only get to use 2 skills at a time so adding some customization to those skills would make them feel more expansive
i haven’t heard that idea before, but I kinda love it. the more customization options the better, as far as I’m concerned
Except for people losing progress and no Apoc rewards but no one talks about it
that is a massive problem. not speaking on it was an oversight on my part during the review, and it is definitely worth mentioning so I do appreciate people highlighting it
With you on the reload complaints.
so annoying! but i guess if that's one of my biggest complaints, it's a good sign for the game overall
“Clementine”!
she had such a banger entrance, so glad to see her back in the second game
Why does the character turning look so awkward with bad camera angles?
You should play Wayfinder
been seeing a lot of talk about it since the early access launch, strongly considering diving in at some point and checking it out
I am enjoying the game but i really doubt it will win game of the year. There are way too many excellent candidates this year.
for sure. any other year I could see it contending for that spot, but the 2023 lineup is way too stacked
Remnant from the ashes, is not the first game in the series. It's a sequel to Chronos before the ashes.
see I kinda view Chronos as it’s own thing, especially since it was originally released as a VR title. would you recommend playing it on PC or console? I might pick it up and try it out, I’ve always been curious about it but I can’t handle VR games and ports can be hit-or-miss
@@JayTalksGames I would recommend getting it for PC, it's on steam. Chronos is definitely part of the series. It follows the same story and they reference the main character from the first game a few times in both Remnants, the people of Yeasha call them the destroyer, for story reasons.
@@NoName_4200 cool, I will see about checking it out!
Already bored of it. But it's a great game.
i think one of the great things about it is it's worth at least one full playthrough for the combat and bosses alone, even if you don't plan on grinding it like crazy after
You are high!
0_0 care to elaborate on that?
YES FINDING!;LOL!
I don’t mean to sound rude but a lot of the things said were very corny.
can you give me some examples? i'm happy to hear the feedback on what i should improve
@@JayTalksGames the part where you could "reach out and touch the trees" and "I thought I was in elden ring for a moment!". Just some examples. The overall vocal tone reminded me of 5th grade when we'd speak in front of the class for a book report or show and tell.
Great script
thank you! glad you enjoyed the video
Game certainly isn’t legendary right now on the Xbox.
are there still issues on console? it looks like they released a big patch on Xbox/PS about an hour ago, so hopefully that will help
@@JayTalksGames
The patches are released on PC first. Some of them haven’t hit console yet.
I only encountered insta kill traps in one dungeon in Yaesha in my hundred hours of playtime. This game has next to no traps in my experience.
@@xenomorph4053 i saw at least 4 in my first 10 hours alone lol
I haven’t run into any insta-kill traps in my playtime yet. do you remember where you were when you ran into them? I’ll keep an eye out on my next run
@@JayTalksGames 3 different dungeons on yaesha 2 on losomn and my gf found 1 on nerud
You realise both Elden and Remnant are souls-likes right? This ain't borderlands or Division 2 lol
Like how you skipped the whole woke NPC
i mean, to be fair it’s like 2-3 lines of dialogue in the whole game lol. if that ruins the experience for you I’m not sure what to tell ya
"Underrated Greatness" Except for the part where the game was pushed out as janky as your go to AAA pile of crap.
I did have some performance issues but they were few and far between. were your issues on console or PC? I think they are releasing a patch to improve console performance sometime soon
why is every content creator thats promoted by the algorithm doing the fake gay girl voice all of a sudden. I have a feeling the algorithm is hard at work
homosexuals and women are the new primary demographic in the AAA space. So sooo strange
you know the algorithm recommends things you are interested in, right…?
Gimmicky bosses, a final boss that takes the cake as being the worst boss in any game, clunky movement, crappy looting and xp leveling system that turns a 15 hour game into a 200 hour game....going to have to agree to disagree....this is far from perfection, the first game was considerably better.
The PTSD of this post is immaculate. This man really got annihilated.
i gotta be honest, i think you are the first person i've seen who didn't love the final boss. what about that fight did you dislike so much? i personally thought it was awesome, but i'm curious to hear what someone who didn't enjoy it has to say
@@swift-pawedteif386 i was also banging my head against the wall for a while too, and when it finally clicked and i finished the fight... such an awesome feeling
Certainly not perfect at all the trait points are bad very bad. Are you bought and paid for by the devs. Legendary lol you are joking.
what don’t you like about the trait points? do you not like the traits themselves, or the cap on points, or something else?
@@JayTalksGames trait points are useless lvl them up change then have to put mote points into them again went fro. 1500 trait points to 65 absolute joke I was so looking forward but within 2 weeks ran through it twice and now onto another game should have been 30£ they dropped the ball on 2ndcgame too many classes they havec3 dlc's to do could have done a few here and there but I will wait for dlcs now not touched it for a week now shame could have been better
@@reecedevon9846 i'm sorry to hear you were disappointed with it. i do hope they add more trait points/increase the cap down the road, which will hopefully give you a reason to come back and play it some more
