I just started playing POE and it was overwhelming to me how much information there was. A good friend helped me through a lot of the basics and watching your videos and stream really got me into wanting to make a build. Thank you for doing what you do homie, love your content.
cause bow´s got buffed - more expensive to get a good bow or items used for such builds - not that easy to start league with. usually u want somethings strong with good clear but also cheap, bows wont be cheap they will be the most expensive thing u can get.
bow is not a starter build. Have you tried lvling just using bows? I rather stick needles in my eyes repeatedly for a week than lvling one as league starter.
@@Neysehadi i tried on SSF toxic rain, started 5 days ago, i got ez to act 6 in 3.5h, soloing lab on lvl 31 and cruel on lvl 52, the fact i got death bow in act 4 and prophecy to upgrade it in act 5 helped a lot though. It was my 1st bow build ever since i started playing 2.5 years ago.
“Melee” class using bow is a cool concept. I’ll probably start with that. Thanks mathil for all the info and input. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I just can never make a build of my own so this helps so much.
For the CoC DD/VD Elementalist - Once you get the Assmark Ring you can drop the OOS + Assmark combo and instead use Combustion! It gets you higher damage numbers than using Ele Weakness or Flammability as a second curse but if you want some more defenses you can ofc get Enfleeble or Temp Chains. On top you safe the skillpoints for the additional curse on the tree.
What do you mean? How do you get combustion apply and what do use to apply the second curse? And do you use anointment to have the passive for additional curse?? Mind if I have a look at your pob too if you have one?? I'm trying to figure out that to do with mine too 🤔
@@paco0901 As Elementalist you can use HoP + HoA + Zealotry + Precision (~ lvl 6) - HoP adds Physical Dmg to your OoS and HoA gives you some of that Physical Dmg as Extra Fire Dmg for OoS and with a critical strike you get the ignite to trigger Combustion. If you wanna run a second curse instead of Combustion you either have to anoint it oder respec your tree.
i'm leveling CoC Volatile Dead now and just 1 note... start with Cast while Channeling instead of CoC. Your crit doesnt matter, it is stable and it can cast from distance. Pretty strong from lvl 40 onwards on just 4-link and +1 fire skill gems dagger.
Did heavy strike 2h champ last league. Was pretty satisfied. 95% certain im doing glacial hammer this league. Leaning towards jugg, but might end up on berserker if my DPS isn't where I want it in higher tier content. 0.0% glacial hammer on poeninja lol...im so original.
Because of the way you only get 1 or 8 bleeds, the 60% chance to deal 100% more is actually a 100% more damage mod, not a 60%. You take a few shots until you get your top bleed on the target and that rolls around for a long time. So as long as it triggers, it is 100% more damage.
Cobra Lash is interesting as a CoC trigger. Use Contagion/ED or some other chaos damage spell set up to reap the full benefits with across the board damage.
PSA regarding Ensnaring Arrow: Drillneck and other sources of pierce, chain and fork will be not good against bosses, because the skill gem sates "behind its FINAL target". So you'll probably need to find another quiver for the puncture gladiator.

the moment i saw that they changed explosive arrow i have been jumping for joy ever since. I try to use that damn skill every league thinking that the power creep would help me play it the way i want but this change is exactly what i needed. Now i can literally blow up maps with arrows that have dynamite tied to the ends lol
@@90Rush sumonner is always a safe option but I've had one during Blight, so now I'm going for the cyclone coc desecrate volatile dead (Mathils last build from Blight). :) E: Lol now I see Mathil included it into these starter builds, so maybe the equip won't be so free on that. Question: Why Trickster over Chieftain for Burning Arrow? Cheiftan gets Fire Damage over time Multiplier and Cover in Ash; and is far more defensive than Trickster too; generateing Endurance Charges when using Fire skills and having Cleansing Water. Things like Burning Damage Support are STR jewels too.
Trickster 20% more dot is a separate multiplier from fire dmg over time multi which you are stacking anyway. Fire pen is useless and you get 100% chance to ignite anyway. Covered in ash? 20% chance to get 20% inc fire damage? Nah Not worth 2 points. Chieftain is more tanky for sure, better for bossing but it is slooow.
It's probably preference, I think trickster has a better starting location on the tree as well. If you were playing hardcore than chieftain might be better for free endurance charges and more available/better life nodes
started the CoC assassin, small note I've noticed on the PoB you still have the offering, but that is not applicable for the non Necros, so far i'm enjoying it very much, Thanks for your work ;)
For his CoC vd elementalist build, where does he socket his golems? He has 5 links in his helm with all the golems enabled. Am I being dumb and don't understand or does he not have actual golem gems in his gear other than an ice or fire one?
I was looking at building a puncture bleed gladiator also. I think ensnaring arrow on mirage archer is a kinda juicy setup. I couldnt get enough life on my build, and it looks like you are having the same issue, so I was thinking of other ways to build defense. I was thinking about ensnaring arrow mirage archer + curse on hit temp chains for a fat slowdown, or just with despair for dps. Also, aspect of the spider gives comparable, but less damage than malevolence, but offers some conditional defense also. I'm not sure how all that will actually work on bosses because maybe they're just unaffected by slow. Dropping malevolence opens up the possibility of using skitterbots also. My setup was aspect + skitters + precision + flesh and stone maim vs malevolence + war banner + flesh and stone maim. Yours has a higher dps on PoB, and probably even more when the banner is planted. I think the damage might be much more even if you take skitters into account. The real question is probably just if temp chains + spider + ensnaring is actually effective on bosses, which it probably isn't, but it's fun to think about. Grabbing curse on hit despair is probably the way I'll go if I actually do this.
I feel like the cobra lash build got hurt by the armor and chaos res changes, even more so with how little of that -x% of enemy phys resist there is available for 1-handed weapons on the tree reasonably getting like 10-15% for a dagger/claw assassin
Robbie1okay poison does not care about the ignore physical resistance. It only takes the flat damages and calculates 20% of that plus modifiers. The only thing that should have reduced the damage is the chaos resistance. But that’s literally it. So tldr: Poison doesn’t care about initial hit. No need for phys pen. Increased chaos resistance is the real nerf
Not sure why I always check out League Starter builds every new league even though I've been playing the game for years.. It always ends in me just leveling with Sunder then turning it into a different build lol.
The Puncture gladiator POB has no multi-arrow skillgem in the setup, so since you have to swap one of your gems out for nova/GMP, that bleed dps will be much lower than that.
I ran a version of this last league but didn't get it fully fleshed. You can have 2 six links, so RoA for clear and puncture single target works fine. It also feels pretty good to level with RoA compared to a lot of bow skills. Especially with glad.
Mathil, love your builds, always come to you when I get back into PoE after a break. Do you think this could work as a Trickster? Is the assassin a necessity?

@@morgrall9553 I honestly dont like the totem related notes of the hierophant. So I chose chieftain, especially for tasalio, which is great as defensive and makes gearing in SSF (which I am playing) easier.
This Cobra Lash build I played in blight league and to my shame I didn't complete any of blighted maps tier. It's mostly of my low skill and hi ping I think. I killed 15 Atziri still, that's some achievent for me. And I managed to get only 4600 life total, but my gear were close enough
Hi Mathil, thanks for the build! It takes some commitment as a league starter but i'm somehow working my self through the atlas... However one major problem occurs with the build: the golems die too often and too fast during the harder fights. Any suggestions how to improve?
You might link them with minion life, or that other gem which gives them elemental resistance. Also if you can spec 1 point into minion life regen it helps a lot.
for the cobra lash. pob has wither with spell totem. spell totem is now namen balista totem and also says it doesnt work with wither skill. so am i just dumb and dont understand it or???

I’m wondering the same thing. His pob doesn’t show GMP but his video does. Prolif comes from the bow though so GMP would have to change some other gem. Not sure which.
Is there any difference between standard league and metamorphic league builds? if I see metamorphic arc witch build what does that mean? that I cannot do this same build in a standard league? I don't understand that I just started to play this game.

Argh, yeah I see that. I also see this: "Hybrid Physical Damage and Support/Spell Damage and Support modifiers can no longer roll on two-handed weapons." Are CoC or Power Charge on Crit affected by this? Are they "Support modifiers"? I noticed a build guide by Gryph for CoC VD changing out CoC for CwC because of this.
Also, that's really unfortunately about Multi-mod nerf. MM made high-end gear a bit more accessible. It's not like MM is that cheap, and the usual crafts that go on also cost another couple ex total. Oh well.

That's because Mathil didn't add any info on the leveling process or uniques, and that's also because Most builds follow the same leveling template: level with Freezing Pulse until level 12 then switch to your main skill. As for the leveling uniques, they are your standard: Tabula Rasa(chest), Golddrim(helm), lochtonial caress(gloves), Wanderlust(boots), and either Life Sprigs(wands) or Red Beaks/Screaming Eagles( one handed swords/axes.) Can someone tell me what I'm missing on the CoC Detonate Dead build? The PoB shows that Cyclone is a 7-link on weapon 1, but that's a 1h. In 3.8 he was using a 2h with inbuilt Cast on Crit Strike, but I can't see how to mimic this on the 3.9 build? What am I missing?
I believe the damage type of EA explosions is still secondary, and just that it inherits base critical strike chance from bows. So, it may not be true that it gains all bonus from the passive tree. Otherwise, 500-700 base damage will be ridiculous
Noob here, just downloaded the POB for Cobra Lash and saw that the tree forks in three after just 6 levels. I've never played a Shadow before, any advice on the order to level this stuff? Edit: NVM I'm stupid, disregard this
Can someone explain to me where to put up the gems and what kind of gems specifically on the CoC VD build? I'd like to try this build out, despite the fact that I'm a noob, but I'm already lost looking at the PoB of that build.
@@southwardfaun9008 Yes, and it's a bit confusing. It feels like some gems are shown as in he had a 2h sword in mind, but he uses 1h and a shield in items section.
CWC has a 0.45s internal trigger window, where as COC has a 0.15s trigger window, meaning COC is essentially a x3 damage multiplier over CWC. You can TOTALLY use CWC instead of COC until you get to around 60% effective crit tho

For those leveling the CoC cyclone, you can get Widowmaker boot blade unique and itl give u alot of crit

Would be helpful to have notes on these builds or trees for different level milestones. Just getting the final tree is not helpful for leveling.

Never played assassin so that Cobra Lash build looks mighty temptating but might turn it around a bit and build around HoA instead.

i thought the idea was to just hit something and use bleed explosions for clear?
@@jordanm7060 ther explosion itself wouldnt make enough damage to consistently clear, it isnt proliferating like poison.
Bow Puncture Gladiator rain of arrows will be much better for clear speed and looks pretty cool
and if u go for marauder axe and sword ring with lion jewell, that give u rly huge dmg boost

Is there any difference between standard league and metamorphic league builds? if I see metamorphic arc witch build what does that mean? that I cannot do this same build in a standard league? I don't understand that I just started to play this game.

Why is a CoC Exquisite Blade going to be "damn near impossible" to obtain? Does he just mean at the beginning? Or did they nerf the crafting of it?
Multicraft was nerfed: "The 'of Crafting' crafted suffix which previously allowed you to craft any number of additional mods on the item now allows you to craft up to three mods on the item. This affects existing items (items with the mod will now be limited to 2 additional crafts)"
afaik the coc modifier only comes on Shaped weapon, so they might be harder to get, and they nerfed multimod by a bit

Argh, yeah I see that. I also see this: "Hybrid Physical Damage and Support/Spell Damage and Support modifiers can no longer roll on two-handed weapons." Are CoC or Power Charge on Crit affected by this? Are they "Support modifiers"? I noticed a build guide by Gryph for CoC VD changing out CoC for CwC because of this.
Also, that's really unfortunately about Multi-mod nerf. MM made high-end gear a bit more accessible. It's not like MM is that cheap, and the usual crafts that go on also cost another couple ex total. Oh well.

That's because Mathil didn't add any info on the leveling process or uniques, and that's also because Most builds follow the same leveling template: level with Freezing Pulse until level 12 then switch to your main skill. As for the leveling uniques, they are your standard: Tabula Rasa(chest), Golddrim(helm), lochtonial caress(gloves), Wanderlust(boots), and either Life Sprigs(wands) or Red Beaks/Screaming Eagles( one handed swords/axes.) Can someone tell me what I'm missing on the CoC Detonate Dead build? The PoB shows that Cyclone is a 7-link on weapon 1, but that's a 1h. In 3.8 he was using a 2h with inbuilt Cast on Crit Strike, but I can't see how to mimic this on the 3.9 build? What am I missing?

I believe the damage type of EA explosions is still secondary, and just that it inherits base critical strike chance from bows. So, it may not be true that it gains all bonus from the passive tree. Otherwise, 500-700 base damage will be ridiculous
it's 500-700 base + 50% from bow and 100% from ring flats etc, confirmed by Rory

@@southwardfaun9008 Yes, and it's a bit confusing. It feels like some gems are shown as in he had a 2h sword in mind, but he uses 1h and a shield in items section.

WHY NOT CAST WHILE CHANNELING??????
CWC has a 0.45s internal trigger window, where as COC has a 0.15s trigger window, meaning COC is essentially a x3 damage multiplier over CWC. You can TOTALLY use CWC instead of COC until you get to around 60% effective crit tho
