- Bill Murray's career took off in the early days of "Saturday Night Live," and from there made the move to classic comedy films. Murray talks to Charlie Rose about how "Caddyshack" made a big difference for a well-known fan.
Bill Murray was fantastic in "King Pin". Best comb-over ever!!
T Bone kingpin
Ghostbusters
Meatballs
Stripes
Groundhog Day
Yes! Thank you. He was born for that role in KINGPIN! Hilarious
@@rokaanalzeer Great List 👍
When my older brother first showed me this movie it really changed my entire sense of humor. Amazing cast and one of the most perfect comedy movies of all time
Best Comedy movie ever,???, Was Volunteers, Tom Hanks, the late Great John Candy, or Ferris Buellars day off.
@@scottlochans4180 I didn’t even say it was the best….stop looking for a reason to be mad lol
Caddyshack was Hysterical, but Volunteers is the funniest.
He's got a therapeutic movie out there. He's got that going for him, which is nice.
Just like, watch out or whatever, man, if any one like tries to like, you know, stiff him, or whatever.
michael looye That clip brought me here LOL
Gungula gungula.
@@billylb1775 Gungula Lagunga ;)
All these actors/actresses made to me, the perfect comedy movie. I can watch it over and over and I do. I owe this whole cast more than I could tell them. They've picked me up when I've been down, and made me laugh to brighten my day, more times than I can remember. What a gift they all have...including the fantastic writers....but I also know most of the cast also just improvised their lines most of the time...now how talented is that???
His opening scene in Caddyshack, stalking the old ladies teeing off while working the ball washer with soap oozing out. Just hilarious!!
This is great....
This man is a national treasure
I tend to watch Caddyshack a lot more when I have serious depressive episodes; it does help a lot.
I’m watching clips and am depressed right now. Yes it does help a lot.
The film runtime was just over 1 and half hours. So much awesomeness packed in. Glad I grew up in this era. Today’s film suck.
I finally just saw it at the age of 35. Masterpiece worth the wait
That's a cool story about Stevie Nicks.
I just look at Bill Murray and I start laughing😂😂
I think everyone does. That's the charm of Bill. Some guys are just make us laugh.
Some of the best Bill Murray’s movies. In my personal opinion has the four Caddy Shack, Stripes, Lost in Translation and The Razors Edge which he was outstanding. Bill Murray is one of the most versatile actors of my generation.
He comes through the airport in Charleston all the time, and he is such a nice guy and very friendly.
This movie makes me cry with laughter 😂
One of the greatest comedians
Caddyshack, I have seen it many times and it never gets old...to me. I mean, I know it's old. It's been around for a while now.
Love Bill, Love Stevie. The Best, of The Best!🌹😎
Bill is also very funny when he plays in the many golf pro-ams. Especially the US Open pro am at Pebble Beach in Monterey CA 😆👍
Dude is out there, he gets it.
He is a huge Cubs fan . Have seen him before at Wrigley field .
*Look, son! A legend*
In other words, he's a Cinderella story....
How long after this interview ended did it take before Charlie Rose disrobed and strolled around his office in the buff?
TOO funny! Sad but funny!!!
but only after charlie does a cannonball with him:)
About 15 minutes
he was just being alert...and available....
In front of nasty Gayle King.
Bill could have been cast as Jeff Lebowski. Sure it would have been different but it would still have been fantastic with his own particular style.
I thought they based the character on Bill to begin with? ::wink::
I somehow would see Bill in some gangster movie, like now when hes gotten a little bit old but hes still the same inside, he would make an interesting character, not sure who the other actors would be tough.. And not sure if they make gangster movies anymore, but just a thought I had lol
Let's get one thing straight, he's not Jeff Lebowski he's the dude man, so that's what you call him, either that or duder, maybe his dudeness, or el duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
omg i would cry . It would be mind blowingly genius. Love Jeff Bridges tho yea. Two kings.
He should be in the sequel. As a competitive bowler. Bridges did great
These two women are so smart, so witty, and so beautiful. They are a joy to watch.
Oh wait, I'm sorry not these two.
Actually, the best line from that clip was Murray's last ones. "This is not a dress rehearsal. This is your life."
He was the best in SNL “ Not ready for prime time players “
It wasn't referred to as "SNL" yet. That crap started way later.
CANNONBALL! CANNONBALL COMING!
CBS This Morning is the worst, why can't we just have Charlie's Interviews without the crap at the end?
+Jesse Dampolo It's the best of the mainstream morning shows - can you name one better? Yes, more Charlie Rose would always be better, but Gayle and Norah aren't bad at all.
They dont know shit and are as boring as a morning piss.
Exactly. Right when it goes back to the women, and one of them just repeats Murray's line with a hand up and a big smile just begging for attention just annihilated all the honesty and originality that comes coming forth through Murray.
Little known fact . His brother was also in the film . Lou who ran the caddy shack is Bill’s brother in real life
It's a very well known fact! As they have both co-owned a golf course and restaurant and bar in Florida named Caddy shack for years! Anyone that knows anything about Bill knows this.
@@vegaslimoguy2376 when they finished the film they realized they had no scene with Murray and Chase and went back and filmed the scene in Carl’s shack
@@gregschannel4918 Uhhh ok there pal.
Bill Murray is the ultimate guy!..Period.
"then I said, hey Laama!"
He's got that going for him, which is nice.
+420FlowerPower " This is a cross bluegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, featherbed bent, and northern California sinsemilla. " :)
Ahmed Nabil How about a little something..... you know.... for the effort????
Big Hitter the Lama!
But on your death bed you will have total .... consciousness
"Dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!"
bill and his brothers have a club/restaurant called caddyshack here in st.Augustine florida at world golf village
"I said Hey how about something for the effort? He said there will be no money but on your death bed you will receive total consciousness, SO I GOT THAT GOIN FOR ME" LOL
Rodney Dangerfield was the star in caddyshack he made the film
@JBishop29 I agree Ted was masterful in that movie, and actually, in anything he does.
Love him.
I saw Stripes before Caddyshack :)
Lighten up Francis.
I saw meatballs before I seen stripes :)
Gotta be the most often quoted movie ever.
Kingpin. One of the best Bill Murray films.
He should have got an Oscar for this film! Arguably the funniest role ever written for a comedian in the history of motion picture!
Happy 65th Birthday Bill Murray
Love this movie!
Loved him in that movie!
the razors edge...he will not be missed.
Available? Bill Murray is known for not signing on to a movie or wether he will actually take a part until the very first day of shooting. He just shows up on set! They have to be ready with backups in case he just isn’t there. People never know if he’s actually gonna do it. Unless you’re Wes Anderson of course.
He is awesome!
I live in Charleston, South Carolina where Bill Murray still has a house I’m pretty sure anyway, he is here a lot and I met him one day when I was out with my Ex. He was so kind and down to earth and he even took a picture with me. We talked for a good while like he’d known me his whole life. There may be two or three people max who I would even ask for an autograph, I was a former amateur and professional Boxer and I’ve actually signed a few myself 😎
Watched it 5 times in 2 days. I listen to my earbuds at work. I dont watch it. I just listen.
I always wanted to be a golf club
We love the character so much that our town in Ohio changed its name from Buffalo Grove to Gopher! We are so proud! And our son is called Gopher Murray Chase
Love that man
Norah O'Donnell is the best part of the clip
Hey Lama, How far little something for the effort?
I'm glad Bill brought us Caddyshack … who needed Doug Kenney or the rest of the cast and crew...
I love when he spits in his apartment
Charlie comes off as 40 years older than Bill Murray.
Cinderella Story, lmao brilliant
Love you Bill. 👊🏼
THIS CROWD HAS GONE DEADLY SILENT
"This is not a dress rehearsal, this is your life"
I think Bill just takes his millions and has a fun life. Good for him. He doesn’t weigh in on political nonsense. Like him a bunch.
Whoa footsie never knew, good job.
What about Bob?
The title says Bill Murray reflects on his role. It's a 2 and a 1/2 minute video .....why is some other guy talking about it 41 sec in????????
Groundhog day, that was a good movie ge made
That is a true life lesson
All joking aside
Be alert and available
classic guy
I don't know if all the ghost busters are still alive, but when bill Murray dies they should have the others as paulberrers
Jake Tucker Egon died last year :(
TheModernPost and "Egon" directed Murray in caddyshack
...
And when you cut back on the mood-differenters, you should like, REALLY cut back, Bro.
Jake Tucker q
Exactly what is it with Charlie Rose, and his pronunciation of Bill Murray's last name ???
I've only heard him actually say it a few times, but EVERY time he does it he says it the exact same way, almost as if he reads it as being "Bill Marry".
It's not like Mr. Rose has an accent, or pronounces other words and/or names oddly, so I just don't understand where this particular 'quirk' comes from.
Anyone ???
He seems to add an R to everything. For example, Cuba in Rose Lingo, Cuber. Drives me nuts
No more Charlie Rose. Apparently he liked abusing women and somehow built a career around it. But it caught up to him.
"Two said that while they were working for Rose at his residences, or were traveling with him on business, he emerged from the shower and walked naked in front of them." Nothing like old naked guys walking around to turn women on.
Caddies Welcome 1:00 to 1:15
Charlie Rose is like a wet blanket
he just knew those girls were funny. such a good actor. lol.
Why does Charlie make me queasy watching him?
Meatballs!
Stripes. Caddyshack. What about Bob. Groundhog day. Love those movies.
I almost got kicked out of the theatre from laughing so hard at Groundhog Day, another Bill Murray movie. Caddyshack is a classic.
Bill Murray as a comedy actor is right up there with the greats.
I think he was doing a ("What about Bob) moment describing the Stevie Nicks thing..I mean: come on, Caddyshack is therapeutic?...That's funny...Bill yanked his chain...
Bill's a guy I'd love to split a 6-pack with!
These people had no clue what he meant by 'be available'. Flew right over their heads.
How time flys
Aging is a muthafucka ain't it? I miss hot Chevy Chase.
I just finished a book about Caddyshack and the drug fueled cast. Check it out.
Charlie Rose probably thought Caddyshack was sOOO beneath him , when it came out. Clown.
Back when CBS was a real network.
Damn Norah O'Donnell is good looking.
Is there a worse interviewer than Charlie Rose?
+Mike Roberts no, there is not
i am an american, and have to throw in more-or-less entirely w/ golum. our media sucks corporate ass (witness: the trump/sanders coverage ratio). so does britain's, though slightly less so, because there is a vestige of public-responsibility, perhaps an extra dose of (welcome) acidity. that said, though, listening to the BBC at nite on the radio is quite treacle-rich itsownself. the pox is spreading.
the problem w/ rose is, basically, he's a dumb ass. he gets people on with 30-40 more iq points than himself, and -just- when they get on to some really interesting exposition, stops them short with an irrelevant banality. you can depend upon it. the guy drives me crazy. stern is far, far, far the better interviewer, by the way. not that he's great, just -uh- better.
Jimmy Fallon.... the moron from ABC... David Muir, Colbert, all of the late night fucks, except Conan. He's awesome.
Well, Mike Roberts, he is no longer an interviewer. He is a washed up dirty old man. That being said, his bank account is probably way bigeer than it should be.
Sal Paradise Conan has no talent. Unless you consider talent acting like a goofball who has an awkward delivery.
... Baby steps to the door
He was a Cinderella boy--who came out of nowhere...
Charlie likes to talk.
Bruce Moyers alright
Oh man this interview must’ve been before he got #MeToo’ed
Look! Charlie Rose has clothes on!!!
There would not be a Bill Murray without Caddyshack. He owes his career to this film. Same for Rodney dangerfield who didn’t exist before he was given a role in Caddyshack
Dangerfield was around a long time before Caddyshack. He was a regular guest from Ed Sullivan to the Tonight Show with Carson.
How he has aged
With Gilda Rader....yes misses loumbner...
Didn’t need the clucking hens at the end
He Jumped ship in Hong Kong and made his way over to Tibet
Both ghost busters
Remember when Bill Murray was funny so long ago
How many fake laughs at the end could make a real one?
Meat balls he was awesome too
And he didn't even speak of Douglas Kenny why was this man so disregarded.
2:28 ditz
Hey Dali....ya know..how bout a little somethin for the effort?
