I’ve been watching Burt in interviews and admire his openness and honesty. I think that’s very rare. And he likes people and has such good friends. He was quite a man
Today I am a 64-year-old man and I was a huge fan of Burt Reynolds - I watched almost everything he did in the cinema - I am Brazilian, I live in Rio de Janeiro and I miss the 70s and 80s. How many good people and great actors that are gone !! Karen Black already deceased, Debra Winger who disappeared from the cinema so many years ago. Burt died old and very degraded, something incredible for a man who was a model of man for all women in the world in his golden age. Time with everything ends. It ends wonderful times and brings up others, not so wonderful. Today's world of the 2020s is a bland, charmless and charmless world !!! The cinema died, the music died, and today's politicians have an absurd mediocrity !!! America was the real America, in the 50s, when the United States dictated fashion and culture to the world !!! Today, the United States is a shadow of that time !! Cinema is a shadow of what it once was. The death of Karen Black, of Burt Reynolds, made me miss him immensely, a longing that hurts from that young age, when we ran to the cinema to see our idols. And we stayed there, hours in line, to see the actors we loved. Good times, unforgettable times.
Mr Reynolds was and still is a man who I truly looked up to. I was an 80s kid. The Bandit just seemed larger than life. I wanted to be just like him. RIP Mr. Bandit
My mother once told me that she saw him in a play - right after he was in Deliverance (1972). She said it was at The Stranahan Theater, in Toledo Ohio not far from Lansing Michigan where he was born, she thinks the play was The Rainmaker. I very clearly remember her telling me this story decades ago. She said that he was a God onstage, and you just couldn't look away from the man. I believe it.
I loved this guy and recently watched "The Last Movie Star". Burt was brilliant in it and you see his real conflict, not as an actor, but as a human being. As a character actor he could and would have been one of the all time greatest. "Terms" could have sent him into a different category.
I was almost 2 month when Burt realised this interview with Larry king ,now i'm 31 years old and i'm a huge fan of Burt Reynolds he's an American legend and icould never forget this man RIP Burt you will be missed
Great interview! Burt was a true man’s man. Old fashioned, of good character, true to his word, true to his friends, true to his family. I love that he mentioned my home state in this.
I believe he wore his heart on his sleeve a was let down in his life by alot of people a he was a man who didn't take himself seriously. alot like Elvis
THE BEST LAUGH EVER!!! RIP... SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT THE BEST TIMES FOR ITS TIME AND WATCHING EVERYONE WANTING A TRANS AM CAR AND JACKET. .. Deliverance STILL JOKES IF YOU GO CAMPING IN THE BACK WOODS....LOL...YOU WE'RE THE BEST!
Not really. Most of his films are shit. Boogie Nights was amazing and saved his legacy though. John Wayne made a huge number of brilliant films. John Wayne is more like Clint Eastwood.
@@ChrisMisc1 Respectfully disagree. He had many movies/TV shows that were not "critical" sucesses, but were always entertaining & the majority made money. He had many movies that his acting was fabulous, but the films were lesser known or less talked about (Starting Over for example. He should've been nominated for an Oscar). He was nominated for a Golden Globe for Dan August. Evening Shade he won an Emmy & a Golden Globe & was a huge critical success. This IV is spot on by Burt. He didn't use t/power he had in Hollywood properly. He didn't make good film choices (or in wives!). Those poor choices changed the course of his life, negatively. But doesn't mean he was not a talented actor. He was VERY underrated in that dept. But he too should've taken his talent more seriously as others would have followed. He also had some real bad breaks that were no fault of his own. The awful injury in City Heat also chged his life, forever. Hollywood accused him of having AIDS, & refused to cast him in top parts. It was terrible for him.
Classy man who never thought himself bigger than others. My friends son received a handwritten letter from Burt Reynolds asking him to enrol at FSU he was willing to come to Va Beach to talk with him. Such a humble guy. And too sexy for words. Oh my! his hairy chest was so masuline and handsome. R i p Burt Reynolds.💙⚘
@ Burt Reynolds a racist?! Where do you get your info from? LOL...You couldn't be farther from the truth! Two of his very best friends, for over 50 yrs, one was a wonderful black man & another was a wonderful gay man. Hardly the company a "racist" man would be keeping for all those years. (Attempting to spread such a heinous lie, about a really good guy, is NOT OK).
Burt knew his stuff; Hugh Wilson created 'WKRP in Cincinnati,' Larry Gelbart produced MASH for TV and Linda Bloodworth wrote for MASH. Love 'Evening Shade.
I believe he really loved Sally field a had regrets that he let her get away. I believe he was never the same after he lost her a he didn't like alot of the movies he made he was disappointed like ELVIS Presley was when he made all these movies he didn't like ,,,
He was good man and they were a sweet couple. But when you’ve got two normal all American people who have extraordinary careers and also individually have a lot of personal problems, you’re going to have an intense relationship. He admitted to his faults and said in old age that she was the love of his life.. but he was cruel to her. So she hit the road. I don’t blame her. The man had an ego when he was younger. Who can blame him when you got the world gawking at you. He had a good heart though.
The lady that who was teaching me stop motion animation had a photo op with Burt Reynolds. No i'm NOT talking about an photo bombing shot with the famous Burt Reynolds, I mean Burt was standing right next to my animated teacher and the photo was sitting in her Animation Studio. I was a kid back then and never asked how did that happen nor did I realize how extremely gorgeous she was. She was also responsible for sneaking me in the first generation Star Trek stage set of Captain James T Kirk deck of the Enterprise. Rest in peace Burt Reynolds.
Rest in Peace, Burt. We love you! For those who are wondering what he's talking about at 07:20 who didn't come see him or did support him, he's talking about the terrible accident he suffered on set making 'City Heat'. Larry didn't get his joke at 10:50 about when he posed nude for Cosmo: 'I thought you were gonna say 'small error...'. ;)
Burt was gracious enough to call me back to be on his show in the late 80's. It was the "B. L. Stryker Show." I was in college and had to decline but I ended up in the entertainment industry any way. I share my crazy ride in a book called, "On My Way to Hollywood", and I include my encounters with Burt, Denzel, Will Smith, Rosie O'Donnell and many more. #MeToo
Luke, you are very personable and articulate. You have a very likable genuine quality about you. I truly enjoyed the review. And I too, like Nolan Films. Dark Knight is a favorite, but I’m bias. I love Pittsburgh! Keep up the great work!
Burt's dad was a super-masculine chief of police who never approved of him. He did the best he could with his life. This leads to one thing --- high achievement but the son never experiences a full life contentment. (There is a price to pay for -- delayed gratification...)
The story he told about getting fired at the same time as Clint Eastwood is not true. I don't know why he told this story. Clint was never fired by Universal and neither was Burt. Clint didn't get his contract renewed in the 1950's but Burt was still playing Football in Florida at that time. Rumor is that a tour guide was telling this fable on the Univeral Tour back in the 1970's and Burt heard about it.
I’ve been watching Burt in interviews and admire his openness and honesty. I think that’s very rare. And he likes people and has such good friends. He was quite a man
No star ripped on themselves more and was more honest.
He was one sexy man and a great actor. R.I.P Burt Reynolds.
We have lost one of the best actors. For me I grew up watching this man and I'm 16. You may now rest in peace Burt.
R.I.P Burt Reynolds. 😔

All about confidence, no matter what the 'what' is.
I just read Burt’s memoir (great read) ….it’s nice to hear him share the same stories and thoughts in this interview with Larry Ling in 1991
I like him to the end!!!!
RIP. Whether you're 10-10 or 10-7 here's hoping your heavenly signal is wall to wall and 10 feet tall. 3s and 8s good buddy.
RIP Burt. Loved almost everything about you. Didn’t like the comments you made about Chris Farley, but other than that, I liked you a lot.

He enjoyed his life, career & his friends.
He had so much charisma and was capable of some great roles. He just turned too many down. Too bad because he had the talent.
Hysterical listen to him throwing the director off the boat! (No Collusion!)
Love and miss you Burt.!!!!
How the hell was he 55 here with less eye bags than me and I'm 30. Superior eye socket genetics I guess lmao
