@@backgroundchan2984 Cis isn't an identity, it's an adjective. And your argument is an old one - when I was a kid, they were saying "I'm not STRAIGHT, I'm NORMAL". Straight people didn't identify that way because they saw themselves as the default that didn't even need to be labelled, and everyone else was a freakish variation. But they got used to the idea that people not like them *are* normal, and now use the label "straight" without worry. Then, as now, it's not really the word you find insulting. It's the fact that it decentres you as the norm and standard by which all others are judged.

No no no, the definition was roughly 'have birthed a child or are capable of doing so in the future' and that means that post-menopausal people are still women, because of course every woman must have had a child before then. /s

I had massive, complex ovarian cysts at age 26, many surgeries, lost my fertility, and could not adopt due to unrelated poor health; few things personally sting and anger me more than transphobes who insist that procreation defines a woman and gages or value. As much as that attitude hurts me… I wonder how much harder is it for the trans community. Trans women ARE women, and infertile women are, too!!

When trans rights are solidified in history and they realise they were on the wrong side of history they are going to be very miserable creatures indeed
I recently got a reply on a comment I made just after I first got approved for HRT that just said, and I quote verbatim: "Don't do it..." That was literally it. The entire thing. No threats of hellfire, no warnings of medical disaster, not even the dysphoria version of telling a depressed person "Have you tried not being sad?" Just "No, please, don't." They didn't even notice that the comment they responded to is two months old. That ship has sailed darling. The transphobes aren't sending their best. Or maybe they are, in which case they're extremely doomed.
How in the heck were they imagining you'd respond to that? "Ooooh, okay then, I won't - thanks so much for Showing Me The Way!" ?? People with more self-belief than brains are WEIRD sometimes..!
If a bad enough injury can screw up which of your gender definitions somebody fits, then your definitions are screwed. Someone's gender shouldn't be negated from losing everything below the waist from a bad enough car crash.
Or even a life saving surgery. In rare but still extant cases it is necessary to perform a radical surgical procedure called a hemicorporectomy, in which all bodily material below the hips is removed and vital systems are rerouted, in order to save someone's life. Even thinking less radically procedures like orchiectomy, prostatectomy, hysterectomy, oophorectomy, mastectomy, and even in some cases penectomy are all still used to treat various cancers. Something like that is a traumatic enough experience without a bunch of idiots telling you that you're no longer a woman because you had the gall to survive and seek proper medical treatment.
or even just…a medical condition that’s really more common than everyone thinks it is. both endometriosis and PCOS can mess with fertility - it can get really bad. Endo treatment can include a hysterectomy. PCOS can cause higher testosterone levels, with effects like more hair growth, particularly facial hair growth (i believe there might be some discussion about maybe classing PCOS as an intersex condition, because of the various effects it can have on what we typically use to define sex, because our definition of sex is also incredibly damn flawed). or even…cancer. cancer can mess with their definition of gender. why? well, breast cancer can necessitate the removal of breasts (and then, shock horror, cis women may desire gender affirming care after a mastectomy), and other cancers (ovarian, uterine, cervical etc.) can necessitate removal of sex organs. i think the real thing is that they’re just a massive bunch of hypocrites
Or military service. The reconstructive procedures normally associated with gender affirming care were originally developed to help cisgender people, like military veterans and cancer patients, who had lost those parts.

@@professorfoxtrot it is only to humans that I say cis. Why? Because you can't actually transition to a cat. And trying to say you can is disrespectful to actual trans people. Frogs can change their sex (I dunno how and quite frankly I don't wanna know) also, as far as I know, cats and dogs can't transition to another sex they are firm set. Unlike some other animals
@@queersoapybar Saying that you can't transition from species is transzoophobic. It is disrespectful to our furry friends who identify as other species, and therefore we must prioritize their feelings. Considering that anyone that has declared themselves a woman, be that in conversation or on a form, has self-IDed, it follows that the only women are those with no capacity for communication. However, if a person can't communicate, they can't confirm their gender status, and, if they gain the capacity to confirm their gender, they're not women if they confirm they are. Hence, we can draw the conclusion that *no* women can *ever* be confirmed to exist.
Well, you are not a woman just because you THINK you are one. You are a woman because you have female sex chromosomes, organs, bones... Just like Jamie is a female too. "Cis" woman - who are the not "cis" women - oh right, males. And we have an already existing label for them - MEN.
10:19 Yes! Someone was trying to argue with me in a UA-cam comment section recently saying “are women and trans women the same?” And I’m like ??? Clearly they meant “cis women and trans women,” but the fact that they worded it that way was already so telling.

i’ve been misgendered loads as well (i’m enby, it happens all the time) but no one can figure out which direction to misgender me in. it’s pretty much an even split when it comes to random strangers as to whether they’ll use masculine or feminine pronouns to misgender me, whether they’ll scream i’ll never be a real man or a woman (both are true), or that they can tell i have whatever chromosomes. i’ve also had people tell me i don’t have periods when i was arguing trans women can call the hormonal cycles they get periods (the cycle of hormones is what causes a period in AFAB people, and in trans fem people on HRT it can produce basically every symptom other than the bleeding) and…i have a uterus. i have ovaries. i have a cervix. they all do stuff, and that includes bleeding very violently every month
3:44 I am a cis-woman who has given birth to 3 children. I wanted to share this since I feel like everyone here would appreciate it. My dad does not understand being trans. What he does understand is that using the wrong pronouns or not accepting people for what gender they say they are is just wrong. If someone tells him they use they/them or that they are nonbinary, he won’t really understand it but will refer to them as they/them and will call them nonbinary. You don’t need to understand being trans to respect a person’s identity and not understanding it is not an excuse, just ask questions if you need to.

On a recent trip to the hospital for one of my clinic visits, there were a bunch of anti-trans people holding up signs at the entrance and protesting gender-affirming care for trans youth -- and meanwhile, I'm literally just trying to come to the hospital for life-saving cancer treatment, and here are all these idiots basically saying that people like me shouldn't be here or really even exist. Some of their signs also said stupid things about "child mutilation", etc., which is just ridiculous, and once again, these people as usual just have no idea what they're even talking about, because if they actually did any real research they'd know that surgery isn't even part of gender-related care for children -- and what these people also seem to fail to realize is that, if children do have proper intervention and care at a young age, it will actually help them AVOID surgery or other more invasive procedures down the road in many cases, because they won't need it to un-do the damage from the first puberty that wasn't supposed to happen! Hell, I WISH I'd been able to have access to the kind of treatment these people claim is "child abuse" when I was younger, because it would've made so many things about my life a LOT less painful! Anyway, the whole experience just pissed me off, and made me especially mad that they were spewing all this hate in front of a freaking CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL, where kids and young people are coming for all sorts of treatments, many of which are life-or-death situations (like cancer treatment!), yet all they can focus on is their transphobic agenda -- and I'm sure I'm not the only trans patient who had to see that that day. It just makes me upset that these types of people are getting so much attention in the media -- and, yes, that they spend so much of their time literally just being hateful seemingly for the sake of just being hateful and their own stupid hateful agenda. So anyway, I just really appreciated the reminder at the end here about how even though these transphobes seem to be making a lot of ruckus lately, there really are probably far more people who are supportive than not. It's a wonderful reminder to step back sometimes and focus on the positive things like that.
My mom was watching a documentary about an early human who was buried with a fighting spear and they were trying to see if the skeleton was female. (It likely was) they had looked at a very specific part of a bone in the ear to see if it was female. My mom immediately said, "SEE somthing you can't change with surgery." in a smug voice like if you have to go to the TINY bones in the ears (something that can likely only be done after death) I really don't think it's worth it also how are places supposed to require people to say they're trans? Are they supposed to put a label on themselves that says their chromosomes??? This is not right, and wouldn't be fair for anyone because even cis people who don't "look cis" could get hurt by this.
Most old skeletons had burial rituals denoted to their gender. This helps as a vast majority of those skeletons are unanle to be identified as one gender or another, due to decomposition and the like.
I'm a cis woman and not only do I get misgendered but I have also been asked if I'm trans, or if I'm a "real woman or...?" because of my facial structure and voice I think but all of it is wildly inappropriate and rude to ask ANYBODY those things like wtf.
Hi Jamie! I just wanted to say that your videos have helped me become more comfortable with myself and I just ordered my first binder two days ago!! I'm so very excited!!!
I wish you would sometimes explore biphobia, as a bisexual man, in a serious and deep dive way. Because it's so overlooked, and responsible for many deaths in our community, and most people don't even think it exists.
I would love that too! And also more fun things like these videos but making fun of biphobia or bi memes or whatever. Bisexual content is so hard to find!
I have always believed falling in love with someone who you're not supposed to be attracted to, just because they were them, was a thing (a straight man falling for a guy but still identify as straight...). Just because life is not about strict rules. Also, attraction to a certain gender can be dissociated from attraction to a certain bodytype : you can be attracted to only one gender but their genitals and whole body are not that important, or fall in love with someone for their personality and they have the bodytype you are confortable with, and turned out their gender is different but you're already in love. And if you are ONLY open about one gender, one kind of genitals and bodytipe and agab, that's okay, but just let everyone else live their relationships how they want to !!!!!
The only time someone's status as cis or trans should really matter is with the premise of an intimate relationship of some sort. Like, if you plan to see this person naked, either because of bedtime fun or because you're just rooming together the ace way, then sure, it's okay to ask. But otherwise? None of your business, weirdo.
Yeah the way we categorize sexuality is so restrictive and cisnormative when it’s a lot more complex than just what genders you are attracted to. But I also think those labels are helpful to many
that leaves the question of well "what exactly are you identifying as" I like the definition of "The gender typically associated with the female sex" because that doesnt really leave room for what is that exactly
But they think that’s avoiding the question even though it’s right. I have to give them a whole essay on how “woman” is an abstract social category that evolved from the category placed on those who appeared to fit what we call the female sex. But it is specifically the language used for and cultural role traditionally associated with the female sex, not the female sex itself. And the English term derived from the term “wife man” but women nowadays don’t have to be wives to be considered women. It is simply the cultural language you use to describe yourself
@@jonjonson-dd7gq Saying "I promise" is the act of promising and this definition is conveying if you say "Im a woman" you are doing the act of being a woman Im not a fan of this definition I prefer "the gender typically associated with the female sex" as that fits with what we know about sex and gender identity more
Just a reminder to everyone including myself don't forget to eat and drink something today and if you have any meds you need to take please take them. You are loved
My brother just straight up said into my face that he is homo- and transphobic. Now all my courage is gone and I will probably never tell anyone how I feel. ~Fin
Jamie the symbol is meant to be an X made from chromosomes. I can only recognise it as I remember the chromosome diagrams within my biology books from 1970s
So is this person for Turners Syndrome Pride or something? Cuz there's only one X on that garment. We need a steady stream of people going up to this person and saying, "Thank you for supporting my child/relative with Turners Syndrome!"
Yeah, being a part of the LGBTQ+ does sometimes feel like you're closed off from parts because you have to fit a certain narrative. Like, I'm not that big on sex and don't have a six-pack ergo many other gay people will just think I'm not up to their standards. Good job that I put my career before my looks and that I just enjoy life solo at the moment
9:28. In the US, Rosa Parks is a black woman everyone learns about in grade school when studying civil rights history. Speaking as a white guy, I find it extremely crass, self-serving, shortsighted, and painfully lacking in self-awareness when white people try to co-opt black civil rights figures to serve their own political ends. Rosa Parks's struggle wasn't primarily for you or me, sister.
Also very disrespectful to Parks considering her situation was mostly about racism, not sexism, and TERF ideology is basically rebranded “white feminism” which was feminism that excluded black women. 😭
That's not twisting, it's applicability. Surely if you're the least bit honest, you have to recognize that past episode of hatred and discrimination against one group of people can give you insights into insane hatred of another marginalized group today.
Her fleeing the country was the best part, she also said "New Zealand is the worst place for women" like no its not, just because you're a women does not mean we need to listen to your outdated ideology and harm a lot of people (and a significant portion of women would be harmed), we love our trans friends and family and we don't need you ruining that. We also love ourseves to be able to defend our lives and our rights.
@@eMorphized No, but if its to Aotearoa then eh, like New Zealand and Aotearoa are so synonymous now that nobody really would notice. I don’t understand how they hate using terms like “trans” and “cis” but then go and say trans people are “ignoring biological differences”. Like that’s literally why we differentiate and why we want things like menstrual products to be inclusive lol
The transphobes love to exclude infertile cis women from the definition. I have PCOS I haven't had a period in over a decade and even when I did have periods I wasn't actually able to have a child. So I guess I'm not a woman anymore. 🤷

"if you need to self-ID as a woman then you're not a woman" is just such... idiocy! Just shows how little they understand the mental aspects of gender. Yeah, I'm a ciswoman, and I *do* self-ID as a woman.
Whoa, what? Trans people outnumber transphobes? I mean, in a decent world, that should be true of course. Trans people, what, 1% of the population maybe? Transphobes, well, should be zero really. But transphobes being outnumbered by just ordinary decent people who are not transphobes? That's hopefully our real world already, and would certainly be much more overwhelmingly be our world if it weren't for the professional agitators spreading lies and fear about trans people.
My mind is blown too. It is hard to believe people can be so obsessed with something that has no impact on them at all. Why is it so hard to just live and let live and be decent human beings? I didn't think decency was a huge ask.
I am a cis woman, and due to a brutal SA, I had to have an emergency hysterectomy when I was quite young. So I am a person that does not have ovaries, a uterus, a period, or the ability to give birth. Yet I repeat, I am a cis woman, but according to the Transphobs I don’t qualify as a “REAL WOMAN” whatever that means.
@Stripes There are many trans men who can, in fact, give birth. Also there's way more than two sexes, intersex is the term that comprises the cases in which someone doesn't fit into the "male" or "female" groups.
@Stripes Intersex is not a disorder. It is something that happens naturally. It is scientifically a fact that there are people who do not fall into tight binary boxes. Biology is not a simple On/Off switch, for every single aspect a living being has, there are countless configurations that alter the way they form, grow and behave, and they tend to not match the boxes humanity made up. That includes intersex.
I had a very sad time last night wondering to myself if the "loud minority" of transphobes were ACTUALLY a minority or not. it just feels so hard to find positivity for trans people right now. thank you for continuing to post good things for trans people and queer people to enjoy and distract ourselves from the horrors outside 🧡
Transphobes also forget that menopause is a thing. Women tend to be relegated to the background after a certain age, but being pushed out of the womanhood once fertility has passed is harsh. They're certainly the same people who claim erectile disfunction doesn't happen to "real men". But they also say there are only male and female, so at either of those points in time (or one of their other weird rules) we all become trans.
Transhobia does npt exist. No one is afraid of these possibly mentally ill people. Of course women after menopause are still females - and Jamie is one too, despite her plastic surgeries and hormone injections. Of course there are only males and females. There is no third sex.
An online cis woman friend of mine in the USA was refused entry to a toilet, because having masculine features, she was mistaken as being trans. Having been skeptical at first, she is now a solid trans ally. That person claiming human beings can tell cannot even spell "sexes". So much for them trying to appear educated. SNP MP Joanna Cherry was responsible for holding up gender Self-ID in Scotland, which her own party had promised to implement by 2021. She has consistently objected to being called a transphobe. However, she has recently become involved, along with Labour MP, Rosie Duffield, with a right-wing think tank, Policy Report, on their project, "Biology Matters", which claims gender is purely biological. That utterly denies the very existence of trans people, which is not only transphobic, but openly and dangerously so. Therefore, so long as Joanna Cherry denies my existence (I'm non-binary), I am not going to be afraid to spare her feels. She IS a transphobe, and has proven herself to be one by her own actions. And what's, having become involved with a think tank which has the ear of the Conservative government Scotland never voted for, I will openly call this woman who claims to want an independent Scotland, as I do, a unionist and a fucking Tory to boot.
Question unrelated to the video, is it usually this hard to figure out what places even do gender affirming surgery? because I legitimately managed to find real life surgery photos ON ACCIDENT before actually figuring that out
1. Holy crap, I'm sorry you had to see that without wanting to. 2. I think you can call most facilities or ask workers there if they do gender affirming stuff. That or look up "gender clinics near me" as they usually do that sort of thing.
This is why we never google image search unless we're sure of the results we'll get. Ouch. Sorry about that, friendo. I'd suggest finding a local planned parenthood or other sexual health or LGBT+ aid program, as they usually have at least a recommendation or two if not a straight-out list of all the places/doctors nearby who will do it.
Most gender affirming surgeries are also for non-gender affirming reasons as well... Such as Cis people's genital damages for whatever reason or elective surgeries such as breast implants or the like, just as hormone therapy is also for Cis peoples with hormone imbalances or post hysterectomy patients. Thus, yes, just as many other types of surgeries can be found online, so to can gender affirming surgeries. If one is seeking these photos or videos, they can also be obtained through surgeons who specialize in these types of surgeries.
I'm afab and allowed a certain medical condition to go untreated. It was a choice that effectively made myself infertile. By transphobes definition, am I a trans man? (No, I'm still genderqueer lol)

Trans people just rolled a 1 on the d20 gender roll when they were born Also, me and the enbies on our ways to destroy the concept of gender so we can just live our lives
I have to pause before the positive ending to share with you the impact trans people have had on me. As a child and young adult I did really see a difference between gender and sesx and it was weird to me how others didn't see the same thing. I came up with my own terms and often spoke of people when sexing them as "that penis person" or "vagina person" and I didn't even know why. I was 14-20 when I did that. No one questioned it. It seemed reasonable to me and my peers, like, just normal terms. Man and woman was seperate from that completely. And then I starter hearing about the trans fuckeduppeness of hate and JK Rowling broke my heart. I'm a cis woman, never wondered about that ever. I just really don't understand what the question is. LET PEOPLE LIVE AND BE and just.. wtf. Love you btw. My bf showed me your channel. He's from a very conservative country and he doesn't get the hate either. Some people are trans.

We need more people like him. Nobody has to understand being trans or Nonbinary 100%, but just to respect the terms and pronouns is enough.
Even as a nonbinary person myself I don't understand neopronouns like ze/zem or ey/eir, xe/xir, but if someone uses those pronouns I'll give it my best shot to remember.
Same with me not understanding those who have xenogenders, fully confused by the concept and even the definition is not enough for me to understand but the individual understanding their identity is enough.

They have a mental condition that they can't control, bullying them and shaming them is only going to make it worse. You are also not a psychologist who could help them, maybe they are seeing one to help them get better. You shouldn't act as a psychologist on a professionals behalf, you'll end up making things worse for the poor individual.
People who are trans do not belief that they are the opposite sex, they know that they're trans, gender dysphoria is the disalignment they feel when society perpetrates ideas and roles onto them based on their body part, people wanting others to use different terms for them, such as pronouns can be easily been seen like a peference in a nickname. Some people are trans, some people are Nonbinary, how you can even jump to grand conclusions like "trans being a delusion" is beyond me, its quite a leap and is far from the truth, its disrespectful to trans people and it spreads misinformation about those suffering from actual delusions. I LOVE the "happy ending" of this video showing the contrast in turnout for the different protests! With the explosion of very vocal transphobia that seems to be happening lately, I think it's such an important reminder that there probably really are more supportive people than not; the transphobes just seem to be quite loud and getting a lot of airtime at the moment. It is exhausting and disheartening though, even if the transphobes are (hopefully) in the minority. I am currently going through cancer treatment, and though I'm in my 20s, I'm being treated at a children's hospital, as my cancer is more typically seen in pediatrics.

As are you, friend: stay positive, and know that you're not alone.
Thanks you:)
Ew - DEFINITELY NOT JAMIE!! Go try scamming the trans phobes instead. You’ll actually make some $$
Sorry that was for the scammer posing as Jamie above.
I have never heard of biphobia but I am interested and will educate myself.
I would love that too! And also more fun things like these videos but making fun of biphobia or bi memes or whatever. Bisexual content is so hard to find!
@@gh0st_b0yfriend Have you seen the bi videos from One Topic At A Time?
But I also think those labels are helpful to many
I actually have the perfect definition of a woman! A woman is ANYONE who identifies as a woman! 💯
that leaves the question of well "what exactly are you identifying as" I like the definition of "The gender typically associated with the female sex" because that doesnt really leave room for what is that exactly
Perfect definition
But they think that’s avoiding the question even though it’s right. I have to give them a whole essay on how “woman” is an abstract social category that evolved from the category placed on those who appeared to fit what we call the female sex. But it is specifically the language used for and cultural role traditionally associated with the female sex, not the female sex itself. And the English term derived from the term “wife man” but women nowadays don’t have to be wives to be considered women. It is simply the cultural language you use to describe yourself
The brain is the definer, not the anatomy because we all interact with people with our brain far more than we interact with our anatomy

Yeah, being a part of the LGBTQ+ does sometimes feel like you're closed off from parts because you have to fit a certain narrative.
I just want Rosa parks to come back from the dead and slap these people. It would be extremely cathartic.
9:30 Rosa Parks did not stand up for herself so that you could twist her words.
Posie Parker came to Aotearoa NZ, and she and her ilk were massively outnumbered at protests around the country.

No, but if its to Aotearoa then eh, like New Zealand and Aotearoa are so synonymous now that nobody really would notice. The change has already been happening culturally and socially, but it would help to keep both names on government sites just in case people aren't aware that its the same place.

I’m glad to hear and live in a timeline where trans people are outnumbering their oppressors.
@Stripes Go away
@Stripes You could always not say stupid stuff and be transphobic, you have the option to not spread hatred. Go away
@@charlieandhisantics9954 alright thanks

Man: grown up person that identifies as male
I have to pause before the positive ending to share with you the impact trans people have had on me.
As a child and young adult I did really see a difference between gender and sesx and it was weird to me how others didn't see the same thing. I came up with my own terms and often spoke of people when sexing them as "that penis person" or "vagina person" and I didn't even know why. I was 14-20 when I did that. No one questioned it. It seemed reasonable to me and my peers, like, just normal terms. Man and woman was seperate from that completely.
