In a brave and bold articulation of what she insists is her personal opinion, the former CPI MP for Outer Manipur in the Lok Sabha has said that “a middle path”, between the Kuki demand for separate administration and the Meitei insistence on maintaining a united Manipur, should be the solution for the crisis in Manipur. However, Kim Gangte adds that the wounds are deep and it will not be easy to find this middle path. Ms. Gangte also said that the onus to find this middle path should fall on the seven states of the North East, because neither the Prime Minister and the central government in Delhi nor Chief Minister Biren Singh in Manipur are capable of or, even, willing to initiate a dialogue between the Meitei and Kuki community that can lead to this middle path. Asked which chief ministers she had in mind as the right people to initiate this process, Ms. Gangte said the Chief Ministers of Nagaland and Mizoram because of their close association with the communities of Manipur. At one point in the interview, Ms. Gangte also accepted that someone like Ratan Thiyam, the highly regarded playwright and director, could play an important role in initiating the process that leads to a middle path.

Dr Kim Gangte it's too late to look for the middle path.. the only option is seperate administration. You know you and I were in the CRPF camp in Imphal for our life not in the school we experienced it's not even safed in this camp, we witnessed Churches , cars n buildings are burning in the eyes of the securities. We are praying to God for His protection inside the camp at night most of the young are a lert/ on duty n am one a mong them as we are always threatened to be attack by the Arambai Tengol as told to us by the security itself. So it's too late to look for the middle path, the only solution is seperate administration.

U said u were born in Moirang, i was born in imphal, brought up in Imphal and all the good memories of my childhood and my life revolve around Imphal, but considering the way things have taken its turn on the 3rd of May and continues till today...i can sadly say that we have reach the point of no return and it took me and my family more than 50 days to accept this fact...SEPARATION is the only solution and the only peace ahead..

We, Kuki Zo, have consistently supported the integrity of Manipur, even during the time when Manipur Nagas demanded secession from the state. However, on 3rd May 2023, the Manipuris attacked us, burning our houses and churches, raping our girls, and killing people of all ages in the state capital. Given these circumstances, we have no choice but to demand the establishment of our own capital and administration under the constitution of India as we now believe it's crucial for our integration into Indian society. If the Government of India does not treat us as equal citizens and denies us the opportunity to develop, I fear that this conflict will escalate and result in a situation similar to Kashmir.

I'm a meitei. I salute Ms. Kim Gangte. Such liberal, right & constructive thinking rational person like Ms. Gangte from both meitei & kuki community is the need of the hour to save our future from being dragged down unnecessarily to a darkness. You've rightly pointed out and this definitely is the need of the hour! All the political leaders from both the communities are guilty of the narco terrorism as Brinda has mentioned on one of the interviews. They make rich themselves through drugs, make the common people fight between the communities and both the civilians suffer as a result. This is an appreciable approach taken by the respected Lady, who has a very pragmatic approach towards an acceptable solution for both the Maitei and Kuki communities. But first of all there must be an amicable security arrangements worked out by the Centre. Definitely artists like Ratan Thiem and Aribam can play an important role in this case!

It’s so heartbreaking to know of such incidents. Many Innocent families had to leave their houses and at the same time just to know that they were all burnt down later or most of them. Both Communities had to bear losses at mass and it’s really heart breaking. Just can’t imagine the fear they had to face. I just wish it ends soon. My prayers and condolences to all those families whose loved ones died. Such a dark moment for all us which will be remembered for a really long time.
If the State Governtment really care the people, the situation could have stop in day 2 or 3. This is way taking too long. Is he still waiting for the hill kuki-zo people to die more or still want to attack the village? I dont understand. I have 0% hope

Yes I agree that the government had enough power to control the situation but nothing sort of exemplary action is seen yet. Few days prior to the violence on 3rd May ,There was a clear warning of possible outrage when some of the locals burnt down the local gym, That was the perfect time for the government to intervene but they didn’t pay much heed. Now see How far it has come .And I wonder why these people most of them staying outside relying only on their own personal sources always play the victim card. Give your condolences but let’s not do that blame game. I have enough up my sleeves but I don’t do that because it’s useless to trash talk on internet. The ground reality is much colder.

Despite future potential backlash, individuals like her to serve as exemplars of love, and as Mr Karan Thapar noted when he mentioned that she was the first from the Kuki community to express such sentiments.
I sincerely appreciate her vision for bringing peace to the state. This conflict has not only created a communication gap among close friends but also necessitates our collective effort to bridge it. While I refrain from commenting on whether politicians should be involved, I firmly believe that women's organizations and youth groups, genuinely concerned about their people's welfare, should take the initiative to find a solution.
In the current scenario, no political party can be trusted, as they prioritize their own motives. I will not pass judgment on which community is right or wrong, as both have suffered. We must acknowledge the suffering of both communities and reflect upon whether seeking revenge will truly resolve the situation. I doubt that those who lost their lives would want us to perpetuate further chaos and vengeance.
Unfortunately, many politicians have exploited the situation for personal gain, while high-ranking political leaders remain secure and indifferent, leaving civilians to protect their land and villages. Restoring peace can only be achieved through self-realization and mutual trust among the people. Neither the imposition of President's Rule, NRC nor establishing a separate administration can bring lasting peace, as political parties driven by personal agendas will hinder progress.
I earnestly and humbly request that community elders, women, mothers, youth leaders, and student leaders of all communities in Manipur engage in dialogue and actively work towards restoring peace and humanity. Waiting for the central and state governments to take action will only widen the divide. No one wishes to live in chaos; we all yearn for peaceful lives.
However, a few individuals with personal agendas have manipulated us into becoming pawns in their game. Let us consider the needs of those requiring medical attention, proper sustenance, and the future generation of children. Some claim that their actions are meant to secure the future and protect their land. Yet, through acts of violence, we are only sowing seeds of future hatred, contradicting our present concerns. Therefore, let us refrain from claiming our actions are for the next generation. Instead, let us teach and demonstrate the values of love, peace, harmony, and, above all, being compassionate human beings.
Lastly, I implore all media outlets, both local and national, to report without bias or sensationalism, avoiding religious implications. Furthermore, I urge keyboard warriors to cease their mutual cursing and hateful exchanges based on communal divisions, if they do not contribute to the pursuit of peace, love, and viable solutions.
It is essential to remember that no religion teaches us to hate, kill, or create chaos. Despite worshipping different deities, we share common characteristics such as two eyes, two hands, and two feet. We, the people, have divided ourselves based on caste, colour, creed, and religion. However, our creator did not see these differences. Let us embrace one another with love and support, striving to create a harmonious environment for future generations. We entered this world with nothing, and we will depart with nothing.
