    I got a whining noise when during the winter I'm about to buy remanufactured transmission pump and have it installed questions could a transmission pump make a transmission whine like a baby

    Do you think a worn pump could cause shifting issues. It's the aluminum casing that is worn. Or is it more likely the torque converter that I know is starting to fail, it has that nasty rattle from the bell housing. Or should I just replace both at once. It just got rebuilt but still has shift issues and I'm leaning towards one of those two.

    Hi, thanks for an informative video, I just replaced my Lincoln LS transmission with another used unit and my old one failed, i did put a new input seal but I still have a small fluid leak from around torque converter area. Any idea what can cause the leak? Thank you.

    Do the dots have to align with any thing or just to be sure they are facing down?

    im hesitant in buying an "as is" mechanics special suv that has dificulty going into drive sometimes it slips before take off and im planning on just changing the tourque converter, on off tourque solenoid and now after watching your video the pump worn parts and pump valve . Im hoping one will repair it since i dont want to pay a full rebuild price afterall it is a british and its hell expensive. the tranny does shift all gears but does slip from idle. Hoping for luck on such a great buy.

    My GF has same transmission and she can't afford a new or rebuilt transmission. Someone said that it's the transmission pump. She is so upset about it. I want to help her, but I wanted to ask you something first. How much did it save you/cost you, to take that apart and replace that pump? Can it be done by an amateur? Any help regarding this manner would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

      The pump replacement is easy. Getting a transmission pulled from your vehicle is the hard part. If you can pull and replace a transmission you can easily handle a pump replacement rebuild. Complete replacement is like 250 in parts. Rebuild is like 100 at most. Time investment is a few days. One to pull the trans and one to put it back. 10 minutes to rebuild the pump. Paying a mechanic to do this could run you 3500 to 4k easy. They will likely claim it is a complete rebuild and charge you accordingly.

    Thank you this is the first video i seen on this you have explained it well enough to where i feel like i can do it... but just out of curiosity is there any specific torque to the bolts that you took out

      Not really. Just get them good and tight. Use some locktight also.

    Hello again, I posted a comment a year or so ago. Well, the Explorer was put on the back burner for a while (in storage) I now have it back in my garage. I just got the trans removed (5r55w) & watched your video again about the front pump valve sticking on these transmissions. My question is, does the 5r55w have that same pump valve as the trans your showing in this video? 1 other I thought was quite odd, after removing the torque converter I went to pour out the old fluid, & there was absolutely none in there? Right towards the end of your video, you mention checking the front seal on the input shaft? My trans has one, but is not very noticeable? Like it’s wore down to nothing. Any advice? Will be greatly appreciated!!
    Thank you!

      I'd verify that seal and replace it if you can. You don't want any leaks.

    I rebuilt my sons 5R55S, getting ready to install it back in the car, I put the torque convertor in and it seems a bit weird, it seems like its slipping on the pump, making a grinding noise when I spin it. Wish I could send you a video 📹

      Wiggle it around a bit bro. Probably not on there all the way. The splines all need to line up and it needs to slide through the new seal ;)

      Bannock Chief.. I thought that too but it slides all the way back beyond flush of the bell housing.. I have a video on my phone.. is there a way I can send you the short videos.. I’m kind of new to UA-cam

      @@White-Label-LBC is the back of your torque converter rubbing against the pump bolts? Flywheel may unseat it slightly when fully installed and tightened up. Posted a video on my channel.

    Too bad that the trans has to be pulled in order to change it out! I have a 2003 Lincoln LS with this trans in it, and DTC codes of P0795, P0734 & 35. It will shift from 1st to 2nd, but takes longer than normal to do it, and will not grab any more in 2nd after short time with any throttle. Reverse is gone also, but will engage after long while with raised rpm''s. What do you think?

    • @FixingWithPassion
      @FixingWithPassion  6 років тому

      Rebuild time. Probably a burnt band. Happens quite often in these transmissions.

      Hope you're wrong! I am going to remove the valve body again and check for any broken springs, stuck valves or debris. I will let you know if it turns out to be a simple fix ))

    how did you get the pump out of the transmission, once you remove all the bolts

    • @FixingWithPassion
      @FixingWithPassion  8 років тому +2

      I used a pipe and wiggled it out slowly getting it to free up. It took a while to get out...... They make a special puller to pull the pump out.
