I don't know why but this episode felt like a dad taking his kid out and describing all the great food that he gets when he goes out. just gets me in the feels for some reason. Great video.
I come for your videos and I am never disappointed! Your zeal radiates through the screen because you clearly enjoy what you're doing! I always come away with more places to visit and foods to try for my trip to Japan!
After every video i get this warm feeling of having gotten to experience how nice some of these food-experiences can be. Without a doubt the most captivating way of getting a glimpse of the best junk food Japan has to offer! As always great editing and nice touches with the sound work too!
Every time I go to Japan to snowboard I book end the trip with a few days in Shimbashi. Absolutely love it. Eating, drinking, wishing I could speak Japanese never gets old.
I love your videos it's great and full of energy. Love that you do a small interview with the owners as well and also fantastic editing. Keep it up! I can't wait to go to Japan to try everything *drools* 😆
I'll be in Tokyo (from Melbourne, Australia) for the first time in 3 weeks, and I cannot wait! Your videos (along with Chris Broad) have been great for planning places to visit.
The suit makes me think the Blues Brothers are trawling Japan. Love the video and effort put into it. That said, I always thought Oden was a winter dish that historically came from fish markets upcycling what they had left; the Korean version looks like a good bar hopping alt.
Another awesome video!!! I have been craving an deli sandwich! Ruben sounds good, your mission find a good deli in Tokyo….. please I’m dying for a good sandwich
You popped up in my feed and I decided to check you out for fun and I enjoyed this video! You made made feel like I was hanging out with a friend and having a good time. Little did I know, I realized 😂 you’re THE Nicholas Pettas from my K1 childhood. I can’t believe I’m rediscovering you many years later, creating videos with FOOD in Japan 😍🫶🏼 I’m currently binging your channel now haha.
Well, now I have the weirdest combination of cravings EVER. Yakitori and curly fries sound like an excellent meal. Very brave with the Goya. I bought one once and just sort of left it sitting for a while and evolved into an alien of some sort, now I'm sort of glad I never got around to preparing it. Fun video as always!
every spot looked really good! especially the korean oden spot. i didn't know goya was common outside of south asia! we eat it regularly (i'm bengali) but often eat it with rice to balance out the bitterness. also, i never noticed the journal you post on Funliday until today haha. I enjoyed going through it as a companion to the video
i feel so bad i just currently discovered your channel, but late as it is i am glad i did. nice to see you collab w familiar faces in @abroadinjapan natsuki and sharlain. gonna binge watch il b in tokyo next wk, your videos are very informative while interesting. arigato gozaimasu nicholas-san!
Great video, I got some great inspiration and perhaps visit a place or two when I am in Japan next month. On a side note, you look majestic in that suit. Keep up the good work
How did I miss some of the old videos? I'm happy to see this because I've always just tried to get out of Shimbashi as fast as possible. I didn't realize there was anything to do there!
Been a while I haven't commented a video... but seriously, this one takes the cake. One of my new favorite video from JunkFoodJapan. The editing was really good.. and ''The Master'' face in the beginning... I was just laughing my ass off.
Little typo in the description: "Find out more about (where) I went here:" Loved the vid as always! Can't wait to go back to Japan and try some of this food.
seeing this made me wish nick would do IRL streams and go through cities try out different food , maybe you can collab with pete the premier two and go check out different food
So pleased I found this channel from your collab with Chris! So funny, you are such a character and a great reviewer as well! Subbed! Btw, indulge me if you will, where are you from? I can't quite place the accent! ITADAKIMASU!!!!!!
Another great video Sensei. Is the chicken dance one of the lost kata of the world 😂? You can't watch these great videos without wanting to eat afterwards. So it's off to eat some hirugohan, even though it won't be close to how delicious all the food was in your video!!!
When I went to Japan last year I made the mistake of trying to find a Yakitori place to eat when I arrived on Toyko (from Osaka) on a Friday... Ya I had to go to 5 places before I could find a seat. Every place was just packed with salary man who got off work lol.
This could be a recurring series! Who doesn't like to eat and drink well for cheap - but please focus on Tokyo. I'd love to have you discover affordable street food, cozy eateries, hidden gems serving mouthwatering dishes and budget-friendly izakayas, and practical tips for enjoying Tokyo's diverse flavors without breaking the bank. #Indulge in culinary wonders without overspending.
Wow, the chicken is fresh that day... that must be like eating fish right after you caught it. I find when something is that fresh you require way less flavours and even salt
Love your videos, Nick! Just think the editing is a little strange? The framing is odd and the audio is weird in places. Otherwise a fab vid as always 😊
I don't know why but this episode felt like a dad taking his kid out and describing all the great food that he gets when he goes out. just gets me in the feels for some reason. Great video.
I like this comment… thank you TOMODACHI
“A hint of grandmother” is my new favorite descriptor. It perfectly encapsulates the wholesome and nostalgic feeling of food made lovingly.
I come for your videos and I am never disappointed! Your zeal radiates through the screen because you clearly enjoy what you're doing! I always come away with more places to visit and foods to try for my trip to Japan!
That’s a great comment. Makes it all worth it
Did I read that right, all that food for only 6300 yen!? Wow! Such a fun video, Nic, thanks for bringing us on this salaryman’s food adventure!
You are welcome and yes it was about that for all of that
I can see JC enjoyed the editing on this one. You're doing a great job doing quick editing that flows well. Looking forward to future work!
Thank you, it was our first time to work together although I have collaborated with him on The Tokyo Show and Tokyo Talks.
Ahahahah it was actually enjoyable ! thank you for cheering me and the channel up 🙏
Love that he put his tie on his head for the ending. Feel like that is the quintessential businessman attire.
It’s a classic 90’s move but once in a while you still see it. It’s too funny
After every video i get this warm feeling of having gotten to experience how nice some of these food-experiences can be. Without a doubt the most captivating way of getting a glimpse of the best junk food Japan has to offer! As always great editing and nice touches with the sound work too!
Thank you for cheering the channel up Tomodachi 🙏
Amazing as always! Here's to many many more prosperous years of Junk Food Japan! 🎉

Glad you corrected yourself. As always my day is brightened and my satisfaction is immeasurable.
That’s good to know TOMODACHI
Every time I go to Japan to snowboard I book end the trip with a few days in Shimbashi. Absolutely love it. Eating, drinking, wishing I could speak Japanese never gets old.

Please do! You won’t regret it TOMODACHI
I'll definitely put this place on my list when I come to Japan 🇯🇵 👏
I love your videos it's great and full of energy. Love that you do a small interview with the owners as well and also fantastic editing. Keep it up! I can't wait to go to Japan to try everything *drools* 😆
This was a really fun episode!

Enjoy TOMODACHI
The suit makes me think the Blues Brothers are trawling Japan. Love the video and effort put into it. That said, I always thought Oden was a winter dish that historically came from fish markets upcycling what they had left; the Korean version looks like a good bar hopping alt.
It was delicious for sure
Your videos are so high quality. I love it. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for caring TOMODACHI

OMG, I wanna go back to Okinawa. Was just there in Apr but I already miss it. Especially the food.
Right it’s very different from Tokyo food but still delicious

For real though, really nice beard!! XD

It’s my first time to grow, but I think my wife was right to tell me to try

Oh happy day a new junk food Japan video. I want to be a salaryman
I am always excited to be toured around by the UMAI king haha. Thank you for the video TOMODACHI!

After watching this video, I wish that I had been able to see this in April when I was there in Tokyo
idk if I'll be able to travel japan but thankyou for taking us on a journey
You are welcome. My version of Japan is very different from the other UA-camrs here, but feel free to hang around for more food stories
How did I miss some of the old videos? I'm happy to see this because I've always just tried to get out of Shimbashi as fast as possible. I didn't realize there was anything to do there!
There’s so much great food there
This kind of content is awesome! Very distinguished bread you have there! 👍
Thank you Sir
Looking for those smaller restaurants in Japan was among my favorite things to do. Not really for the price but rather the unique character.
They are trickier to film in but I know what you mean
That makes sense. Great experience though, kinda like visiting a friend's kitchen.
Been a while I haven't commented a video... but seriously, this one takes the cake. One of my new favorite video from JunkFoodJapan. The editing was really good.. and ''The Master'' face in the beginning... I was just laughing my ass off.
LOL 😂 me too. Never gets old
Thank you for this comment Tomodachi 🙏🙏🙏
Arigatō, ( hope i am correct) for this beautiful channel. I live in a small US town and I've learned sooo much from you.
And you are welcome, so happy to read comments like this and connect with people all

The beard's looking good Nic! A great eps as usual ;)
Cheers TOMODACHI
Oh my that Korean fusion oden... I would be doing the happy tummy good food dance too 😂
Man, looks delicious!
It’s fun watching the Nic’s own credits roast him.

Great video. Hint of Grandmother? You can't get better than that!😂
LoL
Awesome. Keep it coming
Thanks! Will do!
For me a perfect skewer is a mix of liver and thigh with green pepper and onion.
Great episode! Love ya Mr. Pettas!
You are welcome TOMODACHI
Saint Nick, patron of Japanese Street Food does it again.
It’s just Nic in case you were wondering but nice touch with the Saint
The beard/suit combo gives me the feeling of a fighting game boss...
You know I used to fight for real right?
@@JunkFoodJapan Yep! I'm sure that adds to it, too ;) But going entirely on aesthetics alone in this vid...
Still love the comment
Awesome video as always ^^
Love your junk food video. Can't wait for the next freshly pluck liver...😂
It’s so good you could eat it raw. But that’s now illegal in Japan so please don’t try TOMODACHI
Little typo in the description: "Find out more about (where) I went here:"
Loved the vid as always! Can't wait to go back to Japan and try some of this food.
I’ll check it out but thanks TOMODACHI
seeing this made me wish nick would do IRL streams and go through cities try out different food , maybe you can collab with pete the premier two and go check out different food
That could be a something one day
Pacow needs to be a new word from now on. Very cool to see these type of restaurants that are more accessible and kinda ''rustic''.
Pacow to that TOMODACHI
So pleased I found this channel from your collab with Chris! So funny, you are such a character and a great reviewer as well! Subbed!

Oh man I love goyachampuru😋
Looking very sauve, Mr. Nic! I'll have a tall, refreshing beer too, okay? 😁🍻

Egg flavored eggs...gotta be my favorite. And if it's on my way, might try some of Mabo-sans oden in September
It’s heart warming and September is a great month for oden 🍢
dam nick, you know how to clean up! lol! Great episode !
LoL 😂 I try my best
that all looked incredible lol
And it was
He got the drip! He got the sip!
Yeah - I'm all about the beer and yakitori - all I want right there
Such a great place for bar hopping
The look on the first dudes face when you were speaking english to him lmao
LMFAO 🤣
So if I go to an izakaya in Japan and say omakase can I get by with that as a non-japanese speaker do you reckon?
Absolutely 👍 but make sure you know what the prices are otherwise you’ll be in for a rude awakening. It has happened to most of us
Love Shinbashi !
I know Honey ❤️
Any family oriented places to eat? I would love to go to kakiyori with my kids
Kakiyori? I don’t know what that is ? I want to showcase a great place for dessert that make incredible kakikori shaved ice 🍧
all of the food is quite expensive but as long as it is great
Good shit Homie
If you rub the Goya with salt and rinse prior to cooking, it tones down the bitterness.
Yeah I have heard of this and I am sure they do it? Or maybe not if you are hardcore Okinawa fan
At the second place, did the beer have ice in it?
No no.
I used to hate Goya but after knowing its benefits it gives to us, I slowly come to terms with it...
I still have a love hate relationship with Goya… can sometimes be quite the challenge and at other times quite pleasing
This is my favourite budget 👍
Egg yolk is Kryptonite for beards 😕
Your Editor is HILARIOUS 😅
You need a lapel mic mate...
Tell me about it
I like this goofy editing
Thank you 😆
