50:35 to Dr. Leifer’s point about whether or not the two individuals had influenza boosters during the time period of the experiment. Would that necessarily be relevant, as the formulation of the influenza vaccines are different from season to season to account for the antigenic shift in hemagglutinin? You would presume that that booster would not be stimulating the same population as a result of the difference in vaccine antigenic formulation, or even variant associated with an infection.
Re: Blind people suffering from jet lag (assuming it's not just having meals too early or late) I remember, many years ago, reading of, or seeing a report of, research on jet lag, that said that the photoperiod can be reset by shining a bright light at the back of the knee! Maybe @Vincent can look into that with the neurology people. (y)
Heads up - Huberman veered away from science for a while now, anything coming from his direction should be scrutinized and validated. Thanks for the great work as always!
I’m one of those who lost my sense of smell in March 2020 and still can’t smell. Once or twice it seemed like it was coming back but then I lost it again. And I could still taste sweet sour salty bitter until just a few weeks ago. But now my taste is coming back, but not smell.
I have a question. Wouldn't it have been beneficial to inoculate or boost mucosal immunity and prevent infection in the first place? Not sure why they decided to ignore that.
I’m not a scientist but I love this program and all the rest, keep up the good work.
Really great episode! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise-- you're awesome. (And yay for Bluesky!)
Australia is a long way away, too bad you couldn’t stay for a few weeks but cool you got to see some of the strange creatures that live there.
Australians!
Love the explanation about olfactory macrophage paper!!! Thank you Steph!!

That only works for blind pilots.

I second this wholeheartedly.
don't like the guy. a bit too self indulgent for a scientist
Data on this?
@@jludo you dont need a positronic brain to figure this one out

Correlation between long-term loss of smell and excess deaths. Bad luck.

Yes. But doing so requires a different application of a vaccine which increases cost.
Jet lag: viewing sunrise and sunset. At last a remedy I'll remember!!!
Right? What if it is raining...surely melatonin supplements and exercise help better than chasing sunrise and sundown.
I agree with Dr. Racaniello: "I thought this was cool."
Imagine being a time traveler from the future and trying to explain telepathic medicine to this bunch.
Nooooo! Not Huberman! he's very pseudo science adjacent at least. As well as the other stuff...
Boosters, we need Boosters.😷😷😷
H5N1, Monkeypox...what's next, you guys better find something quick or all of the funding goes bye bye.
