    Nice to hear from four intelligent and sensible Americans. Some of us in other countries need to be reminded that many such people exist in America.

    I’ve been a loyal follower since the pandemic. I am not a scientist but I needed to find scientists who could explain things to keep me sane. Even though I don’t understand some of the concepts that you are discussing, I get really excited when I hear something that I am familiar with. Keep up the great work. BTW, I’m 79 years old, never too late to learn.

    Advice to those writing to congress critters and associated fauna.
    Write a snail mail letter on physical paper, in addition to email and signing petitions.
    People take more notice of the kind of mail that has to be physically crumpled before consigning to the circular file.
    This is advice I've taken from other activists attempting to lobby on behalf of sanity and compassion.

    So many interesting observations from the paper. Was the spread of RSV due to limited introduction, or due to specific increased susceptibility to certain ‘reintroduced’ viral genomes? We may find out with further research!

    I’ve pretty much given up talking to people. They have to WANT to listen. My own family is very polarized and thinks that any Fox News commentator has more credibility than I do as someone with a BSN.

    France and the United States were once celebrated as bastions of science and free thought, particularly in the periods before and after World War II. However, in recent years, there has been a troubling rise in anti-science sentiments and the unchecked spread of pseudoscience globally.
    Assigning blame is challenging, but it raises serious questions about human behavior. Despite being rational creatures, we often succumb to irrationality, following misguided leaders and supporting dangerous ideologies. It’s disheartening to see educated individuals subscribing to baseless claims, such as the debunked notion that vaccines cause autism. Such beliefs undermine progress and reflect a worrying shift away from critical thinking and evidence-based reasoning. Thanks, guys for bringing us some pure science.

      I don't mind the idea of RFK being employed by Trump's government. It's just that they've given him a position that he has absolutely no idea how to do! He's going to cause damage to your country and probably to many more! Give him something he actually understands.....please!!

    05:00 Imo, the cause of the rise of RFK Jr can be put down to the fact that the medical establishment prefers being part of the choir, at all costs, rather than letting free debate happen, even if that comes from the fringe, like RFK. Trust is now lost. I hope we've learnt that "follow the science" is an oxymoron.
    Why did Paul not agree to debate RFK (something about him being too lawerly?). Ok, produce a video rebutting RFK, but the horse has bolted, and the video will receive negligible viewership, and probably only by the choir. It's time to leave the echochamber, and RFK is the best man to bring that about. We all need to get used to fringe.

    • @DP-PhD
      @DP-PhD 11 годин тому +4

      Everyone is allowed an opinion and here is mine.
      There is plenty of debate in the 'scientific choir'. I personally have 'been out of tune' a number of times. Sometimes I have realised I was out of tune, other times others, in the choir have realised they were out of tune and guess what the choir starts to sing a new song! In summary the 'scientific choir' it is NOT singing in an echochamber!
      Those who believe what RFK believes, about vaccines for example, are in an echochamber. Why? They are listening to ONLY one song. It then follows that RFK choir master is the best man to bring about the 'changes' that are required to cure many 'issues' that are sung about in the echochamber.
      The problem is are the changes required, do the issues exist, and will the changes reduce issues, that supposedly exist, or will they cause more issues than they solve? In other words who will question the lyrics of the song and what happens to those out of tune?
      Rather insidiously, the 'pause' of CDC research into 'infectious disease', for example will curtail the ability for the scientific scrutiny to determine the 'effects' of RFKs proposed changes and all that will then be left are the 'echochambers'. One singing a song that will never change, unless RFK Changs his tune, and all 'songs' scientific community will be silenced, because NO ONE will be allowed to create new lyrics to be scrutinised! I fail to see how is that going help 'debate'?

    • @roncarlin3209
      @roncarlin3209 10 годин тому

      @DP-PhD I think what RFK Jr realises is that the captured medical elite's acceptance of consensus science only, ignoring the fringe, is now doing more harm than good. Of course he's wrong on HIV and vaccines, but he's absolutely right that the current medical tyranny has to be dismantled. He welcomes open debate, so expect his fringe ideas to be completely discredited, hopefully with his gracious approval.
      The medical mafia, like Paul Offit, have simply not been prepared to give him a chance to debate. Now that he will control the purse strings, maybe there'll be a welcome change in attitude.
      Let battle commence, and may the best man win. Imo, RFK will lose the HIV and vaccine battle, but he will win the battle to bring alternative views into the debate, who have a good chance of winning, such as GBD.

      Because the "microbe" paradigm (mythology) has become far too complex for its proponents to even begin toentertain the notion of exercising critical thinking around its claims and assumption.
      I don't envy anyone having to deal with reconciling "medical science" with obvious, real-world observations. Human psychology dictates that the most desirable course of action for anyone in this situation is to double down, which usually, and comically, results in the expansion of the mythology to give the sense of "understanding" or "progress".

    • @DP-PhD
      @DP-PhD 8 годин тому

      @@John-he6yh Yes how microbes affect human health is complex but 'the "microbe" paradigm' as you put it is not mythology. Those who cannot 'reconcile obvious, real-world observations' such as the detection of specific 'microbes' with specific diseases are not using critical thinking. "Medical science" employs methods to test microbe-disease 'correlations', then designs and tests treatments to target said specific microbes. "Medical science" then employs critical thinking to assess the effect of the treatments on the disease. How do you suggest this process could or should be improved?

    • @roncarlin3209

      @John-he6yh True, but then when reality dawns, as it now has, the cognitive dissonance is frightening to behold. Yes, the barbarians are at the gate. The TWIV guys look shell-shocked. I wonder what's going to happen to their funding?

      It has nothing to do with conservative or liberal. It has to do with nominating a guy with no medical background who wants to end science research for 8 years.
