How serious is the current bird flu? Heard the sad news at big cats' sanctuary, and also the mutaion of the h5n1 virus of a patient at Louisiana.. Is another big one imminent?
Completely, in your case. Your comment reeks of paranoia and cynicism. But you’re intellectually lazy and reluctant to examine the depths of your delusions, so that’s how you will remain until you learn to think objectively
Sidebar on the Bret Weinstein "having beef" I recall years ago before I found twiv I listened to his podcast with his wife and his son did the cameras. Bret had no working knowledge of virology or immunology other than what he could google on the fly which was pretty astounding considering you'd think an evolutionary biologist would have some grasp of the basics. He didn't understand viral replication, couldn't pronounce adenovirus, and has huge gaps in immunology which has been highlighted by our friend Dr Dan Wilson debunkthefunk. He was originally pro zoonosis until it was financially lucrative to be a contrarian and then he latched onto ivermectin
I remember some years back there was some controvery around his departure from Evergreen State college. The reportage at the time made him look as though he was the victim of student retribution, but perhaps there was a basis to their complaints. Evolutionary biology is a dog whistle for super-conservative young white men who feel slighted by DEI and progressive policy.
I am so mad at Siri. My parents did not give me poliovaccine spring 1958 because I was so healthy. In autumn I got polio and almost died. Now using ventilator 11,5 hours a day rest of my life.
Maybe OPV need mass vaccination at all population at same time, to induce specific immunity at all ,in the same time ,to decrease circulation of virus( If circulate can retromutate( ? )and recombinate( ? ). )?
The challange study interested me. I would have really liked to listen to the motivations of the participents. I wonder how many thought: I'm going to get it sometime. I don't want to be vaccinated. This will give me natural protection. I will be paid for it. The virus is harmless. I will get the best treatment for any mild effects.
I had the same thought. How did they recruit for it, and why did the volunteers volunteer? I chuckled at Alan's comment about how and perhaps why it was mostly young guys in the study. 🙂
Another terrific episode; thank you so much! Loved Rich's "This is how science is done... we we sit around and read the paper and we try to understand it, but we don't necessarily agree. But we try to find what's true and not who's right." ((mic drop)) Also enthusiastically seconding the Meute recommendation from Jan. Your face will ache from smiling so hard... until it gets melted off, of course🤘😁.
If the anti science folks really want to make a difference go after highly processed foods and the lack of labeling of alcohol as a carcinogen.
Beware the french fry!
When my dad was young before the Polio vaccine, he said people were terrified of getting Polio because of how bad it is.
Here in China my brother-in-law got polio as a baby around 1959. In calipers and on crutches for the rest of his life.
The stats of what can happen are pretty gruesome. One in 200 lead to paralysis. Of those that get paralysis, 5-10% die.
So sorry!@@WillNewcomb

Depends how gullible you are.
Completely, in your case. Your comment reeks of paranoia and cynicism. But you’re intellectually lazy and reluctant to examine the depths of your delusions, so that’s how you will remain until you learn to think objectively
Difficult to predict but not a remote possibility. The response to the threat is uncoordinated and underfunded.
Thank you, a great listen on Sunday morning, all have a good New Year.

He was pure trouble when he taught at The Evergreen State College in Olympia WA.
Thanks for taking one ☝🏾 for the team! I 😂
A great assembly. Thank you all, God bless you and Happy New Year.

I was O PV vaccinated and revaccinated, and I also vaccinate in winter with OPV but IT need many children at the same time in the same place.
What a combination: science and joy! Thanks for sharing.
Rest in peace Raven, one of my best friends she's been gone for a good while.
Interferon induce fever.
If SARS COV2 better replicate at low tissue temperature, fever induced by interferon also mitigate infection
-16 Celsius in Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Not only infections induce release of interferon.
Some substances can be interferon inductors

Infinite sequence, infinite biological dark matter, infinite ways to be completely wrong about any of it's meaning.
Infinite?
True, in that a fact or truth is floating in a sea of errors and misconceptions
