Definitely one of those iconic classics! Amazing track! Let us know if there are other songs by them we should be checking out! Have a great day guys! 😁🔥
Any CCR is good CCR. They did amazing lyrical songs (the 60's were great for that) Bad Moon Rising is a perfect example of that. Lodi is great too. Honestly, close your eyes and point to a song and you're good.
1972, 19 years old, 200 bucks in my pocket, road trip to Florida, stayed on the road for four weeks. Had one eight track tape, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Cosmos Factory, never got tired of it.
I am a 71 year old woman and I have missed the type of music I grew up with. For the last 20 years they have produced very little good music.I wish to thank you for introducing my kind of music to people of my grandkids age to some really good stuff. Maybe hearing this will make young people look at old people in a new light.
Just turned 69 last week and of can tell you that there are still good musicians out there. Arcade Fire, Fitz and The Tantrums and Serena Ryder are great listening.
clair ash, that song was a hit long before anyone had ever heard of George W. Don’t believe that rumor. It was completely about how men were being drafted because they weren’t elitists, they weren’t fortunate sons. Although he wasn’t drafted, my brother was in Vietnam when that song came out, it had special meaning for me at 13 years old.
Many great/melancholy memories for me. Other CCR tunes I'd love to see you guys check out: Fortunate Son, Sweet Hitchhiker, Midnight Special, Lodi, Run Through The Jungle, Down On The Corner, Green River, Lookin' Out My Backdoor, Hey Tonight, Travelin' Band, Proud Mary....
Yes. yes & yes. Great suggestions for the guys. You say melancholy... I felt like a fool crying (I tear up anyway), because I saw A&A really dug it and understood... Great song. There's only one CCR - No one comes close. Peace. :)
This song has direct memories to the death of the first girl I ever "dated" (first crush) before 7th grade. It's connected with the moment I asked her out and again years later when I finally got closure on her death. Great song with some personal baggage. Best of times, worst of times.
@@RCullis47 Oh, now that's deep. Our firsts are the ones who shape a lot how we "see" and experience life. Happy you found closure, Roger. Now, remember the good, right? Take care! :)
A song by CCR “Fortunate Son” was released in 1969 when my former high school friends were shipped to Vietnam. It became an anti-war movement anthem and was played on the radios by soldiers in Vietnam. John Fogerty is incredible.
My favorite CCR song is “Up Around The Bend”-it’s a banger, early in their career, and I first heard it watching American Bandstand with Dick Clark in like 1970. I was a CHILD. The song never left me, and I still feel the same magic now as I did then when I hear it, 🔥
Up Around The Bend was my favorite cut on Cosmos Factory. ABC's Wils World of Sports played it on highlights of their motocross coverage in the early 1970's.
CCR is American Folk Rock at its finest. From the early 60's on, over half of their songs were top selling hits. Fortunate Son is a Vietnam era masterpiece along with Run Through The Jungle I personally like Born On The Bayou Suzy Q (extended version) I Heard It through The Grapevine Good Golly Miss Molly there's a Bad Moon Rising down on Green River. So dont be a Proud Mary cause I'll be Looking Out My Backdoor. Who's the best reactors? 👍
As you say, Less is More. I saw a description of CCR, back in the early 70s, that described their music as: "CCR gets in, says their piece, and gets out."
What makes the song so profound, is the era in which it was written and that there was a mandatory draft and the Vietnam War. Thousands of young men coming home in body bags, and whether you were for or against the Vietnam War, that was the story on network news on a daily basis. I believe the word "Rain" in the song is symbolic of a "rain of death", that our veterans lived through during the Vietnam war. Our Veterans coming home forever scarred by the violence that they had lived through, only to come home to a country that protested against them and the war. This is the POINT of the song!
Just discovered your channel...holy fuck...i'm from Australia and ive been listening to reactions for 5 years now and never seen any of yours until today. I've started from the beginning and i'm loving your reactions. The reaction is shown in your faces which is great and you both clearly get rock. Loving the Zeppelin t-shirts. Thanks blokes! My only suggestion is more Cold Chisel. Along with Led Zeppelin and Metallica, they are my favourite band. They don't have a bad song.
Checkout ccr's I heard through the grapevine the long version is off the cosmo Factory album. The band members are John Fogerty lead guitar vocals Tom Fogerty Rhythm guitarist vocals Stew Cook Bass vocals and Doug Clifford percussion drums the vocals I grew listening to there their music I have all their CDs they're awesome.
11 minutes of their cover of I Heard It Through the Grapevine. They have a ton of great songs. John Fogerty was the singer, lead guitarist and songwriter (though they did a lot of covers). They released the debut album in 1968, 3 albums on 1969, 2 in 1970 and then a crappy album in 1972 and broke up. John went on to a sporadic solo career. I think they hold the record for most #2 singles by a band that never hit $1. Effigy sounds like electric Neil Young, one of their best of the non-radio songs.
CCR has such a unique sound. John Fogerty has a voice you instantly know he’s the singer. This is my favorite CCR song. You guys have incredible insight for your age. Keep Rockin
Grew up on CCR, and absolutely love them. John Fogerty has that iconic and recognizable voice. Love this song (Andy, you've heard his song in many commercials and movies - any melancholic scene). Born on the Bayou demonstrates John's voice. Bad Moon Rising, for the lyrics alone. My personal fave is Long As I Can See The Light
Hey, Brittney. I missed seeing your fav. Long As I Can See The Light. It is so beautiful! I thought too mellow for the guys, but who knows? Great day to you! :)
If you wanna upbeat version of this check out The Ramones cover of it. :) Also the rain referred to in this song is not wet weather, it's the rain of incoming shells during the Vietnam war.
CCR really ruled!! Travelin' Band really rocks! Great band....timeless is right! (Lookin' Out My Backdoor, Run Through the Jungle, Proud Mary) Also, will always love Ringo..yes he was so low key on Come Together, but it made the song greater. Thanks! 😊❤️
They had a prolific but short run of great singles- many mentioned here; I think I love the guitar sound on Up Around The Bend - natural tube distortion
Further confirmation, (not that we needed it), that "older music" runs rings around the vast majority of modern trash. Okay there are exceptions of coarse, but you get my drift. I just adore watching you guys dig 60's, 70's and 80's music straight out of starting gate. It restores my faith in humankind ha ha. Oh and It Came Out of the Sky by C.C.R is an all time favourite of mine. It pure rock and roll, and so quintisentially American. It's awesome. Please react to that track. 👍😁
CCR always makes you feel good, no auto tune. I think they put out three albums in one year. Check out the group Bad Company, think you will like them. Or Wish You Were Here by the floyd.
Ccr were masters of short simple catchy songs. Fortunate Son, Down on the corner, Proud Mary, Looking out my back door are just some of their classics. They never had a number 1, but if you have seen any movie that uses a scene in Vietnam, you have heard CCR.
John Fogerty is a song writing genius. The CCR catalogue is full of great songs. He has a crap load of solo songs as well. Swamp rock at its finest. gotta check out. Born On The Bayou, Bad Moon Risin, Ramble Tamble, Traveling Band, and the list goes on. With Fogerty/ccr, you can hardly just react to one song at a time, you almost have to react to an entire album at a time. He is a master.
Big radio songs: Fortunate Son, Proud Mary, Green River, Born on the Bayou, Travellin' Band The Jamz: Heard It Through The Grapevine, Keep on Chooglin', I Put A Spell on You If you weren't aware, the lead singer/lead guitarist is John Fogerty
A perfect example of why music doesn't have to be complex and musicianship doesn't have to be amazing for a song to be top notch. This was from the last album with Tom Fogerty, then they had one more before the band broke up. They put out six albums in just over two years while Tom was in the band! John Fogerty was an incredible creative force in that time. Most people will mention the more popular songs, here's some that I love that are never played on the radio - Effigy, 99 1/2 Won't Do, Porterville, Good Golly Miss Molly, Penthouse Pauper, Midnight Special... Their first two albums were much more in the blues/rock vein, lots of guitar soloing and soulful stuff, etc. They still did some of that later, but started writing more 'commercial' stuff, for lack of a better description. It was still great, I'm not slamming it in any way, Fogerty just knew how to write great songs. This is one of the later songs, but I love their earlier, 'bluesier' sound.
You may have heard one of CCR lead singer and songwriter John Fogerty's solo songs if you've ever been to a baseball game: 1985's "Centerfield" ... "Put me in, Coach. I'm ready to play. Today. Look at me. I can be ... centerfield." ... CCR had a bunch of hits, including "Proud Mary" (about a riverboat), "Down on the Corner," "Bad Moon Rising," "Lookin' Out My Back Door" and another "rain" song called "Who Will Stop the Rain?" The band was only together for like four years in the late 1960s to early 1970s before breaking up, but they cranked out numerous classic songs. They are also known for being the artist with the most No. 2 pop singles (five of them) without ever reaching the No. 1 spot.
When that band was running on all cylinders they had this dirty Cajun funk rythym that was hard to resist. Through the Jungle, Grapevine, Born on the Bayou are examples.
Sad,this was CCR's Break up song. The poetic license used in the song title/chorus "I want to know? Have you ever seen the rain coming down on a sunny day?" is the same way of saying "you rained on my parade".They were at their height of success but internal friction between brothers was bad.So as the sun was shining its brightest on the band,it was really pouring down rain of discomfort.Great song.Lookin out my back door is a good one.Lodi and Proud Mary, spot on.Of course if you love " American Werewolf in London"-the song "Bad Mooning Rising".Thanks ya'll,you do great work.Keep it up and Keep on Rockin In The Free World as it lasts! God Bless ye.
These musicians played from their heart, shared their heart with all of us and touched the hearts and minds of every one who heard them. This song is my favorite and if I can only hear one song right before I leave this world, I hope it's this one.
Their catalog is brilliant. They played simple abundance in every one, and they had loads of hits. Fortunate Son and Proud Mary I'd say are their two signature songs but with all of them you'll get a varied preference as to which is better.
This was the song and band which got me into music. Glad to see you finally reacting to them. Creedence Clearwater Revival were... John Fogerty: lead guitar, vocals, harmonica and other instruments, primary songwriter and bandleader Tom Fogerty: rhythm guitar Stu Cook: bass Doug "Cosmo" Clifford: drums Released 7 studio albums in just 5 years (3 of them in 1969 alone). Essential songs in their catalogue: - "Fortunate Son" - "Down on the Corner" - "Proud Mary" - "Bad Moon Rising" - "Lodi" - "Born on the Bayou" - "Green River" - "Susie Q" (cover) - "I Put a Spell on You" (cover) - "Cotton Fields" (cover) - "The Midnight Special" (cover) - "Long As I Can See the Light" - "Lookin' Out My Back Door" - "Up Around the Bend" - "Travelin' Band" - "Who'll Stop the Rain" - "Someday Never Comes" Some deep cuts worth checking out as well: - "Wrote a Song for Everyone" - "Ramble Tamble" - "Penthouse Pauper" - "Walk on the Water" - "Born to Move"
Kennet, I believe John Fogerty did write all of the songs/music; whereby this was the reason of John going his own way. Same reason John Kay left Steppenwolf.
@@lakenneth374 The conflict between John and the other members was about how Tom, Stu and Doug wanted more input in CCR's artistic and business decisions than just being backing instrumentalists for John. His brother Tom left in 1971 to pursue a solo career and the group became a trio. While planning their next album Mardi Gras, John gave an ultimatum to Stu and Doug that they would have to write and sing their own songs for the album or he would quit, so it ended up with just 4 songs with lead vocals by John (3 which he wrote + a cover of "Hello Mary Lou"). The 6 other songs by Stu and Doug were noticably weak in comparison, thus Mardi Gras got panned by critics and didn't sell as well as their previous efforts. By this point, John was also in a conflict with Saul Zaents - the owner of their record label Fantasy Records. In October 16, 1972, CCR officially broke up and John went on to release his first solo album in 1973 where he sang and played every instrument.
PROUD MARY, huge hit and has been covered over 100 times. Someone in a bar band is playing Proud Mary right now. Played over 10 million times on radio. JEFF FOGERTY
CCR were Americana incarnate and a finer group can't be found, who sang rock/folk with the same passion. Timeless music! Guys I am happy you both are open minded enough to listen to old material such as CCR and others. Good review and thanks.
Proud Mary, Heard it through the grapevine, Suzy-Q, Ramble Tamble, The Midnight Special, Born on the Bayou, are all top notch. This was the first rock n roll band I really got into, they wont disappoint.

Yes, awesome
Lodi is an overlooked song that is actually one of my favorites
Fortunate Son is about drafting poor men for the Vietnam war.

The organ swell in the second verse through the end is the thing that still kills me after 50 years. The song is about their experience at Woodstock.
These musicians played from their heart, shared their heart with all of us and touched the hearts and minds of every one who heard them. This song is my favorite and if I can only hear one song right before I leave this world, I hope it's this one.
Born on the Bayou was their best song. Beautiful guitar tone.
Do CREDENCE CLEARWATER RIVAVAL - -STUCK IN LODI.
Their catalog is brilliant. They played simple abundance in every one, and they had loads of hits. Fortunate Son and Proud Mary I'd say are their two signature songs but with all of them you'll get a varied preference as to which is better.
China Grove by the Doobie Brothers is another classic you should listen too. Even if you don't react to it, definately a song you should hear.
I Heard It Through The Grapevine is the greatest cover ever. You guys would love it.
Gladys Knight does a great version also.
Great instrumental section.
CCR is my grandpas favorite band so they hold a special place in my heart. Glad you two enjoyed the song.
This was the song and band which got me into music. Glad to see you finally reacting to them.

Kennet Thanks, I didn`t realize the situation...Thumbs up.
My favorite CCR is Bad Moon Rising, off my favorite album or theirs Green River.
There's a bathroom on the right...
@@misterkite Scuse me while I kiss this guy.
You guys are my favorite bobble heads.
Pretty much all their music has the same effect as this gem of a song. You hear it, and you love it - instantly.
Proud Mary, Heard it through the grapevine, Suzy-Q, Ramble Tamble, The Midnight Special, Born on the Bayou, are all top notch. This was the first rock n roll band I really got into, they wont disappoint.
