Last I played with that, the shields were broken, adding it's own flux level to every hit it takes which gets exponentially worse the higher the flux is at. I needed to alter them in the code to work like normal shields as the hull-mods behind their flux sharing gimmick were broken by updates. You can see how fast they crumple in the video, which is only a fraction of the strength they had when they worked properly.
