Jordannn, i have a questionnnnnn. in the scene that they fight after dinner. It's one shot, but I feel like the camera is moving, like shaking, did you notice it? or is just me? And if so, why do you think it is? I feel like it's unprofessional, but I don't think Taylor neglects something like that, im pretty sure she hired people who know what they're doing. What you think? Thanks

I loved this reaction, it wasn't focusing obsessively on who the song is about but rather focusing on Taylor's skill as a film maker and what a wonderful story teller she is and how her song captured real relationships so well, how relatable this is. I loved this. Some of the swifties are being really immature and only focusing on bashing Jake, I think they should grow up and appreciate Taylor and her song, celebrate this masterpiece of a film x music video rather than focusing on who she wrote this about a decade ago.

This is Taylor Swift's song I relate to the most.
When I was 18 years old, I met a guy, 7 years older than me, and it was all amazing. He lived in another city, and on my first night visiting him, we went to his sister's house. Everything was wonderful while we were together and I felt he was the love of my life.
2 years later, out of the blue, he asks for a break, and I just don't understand why, but I accept. A month after this "break", I look for him, hoping to pick up where we left off, but he breaks up with me. I confess that I was so numb, that I didn't feel so much pain at that moment. A few days later he calls me by text message and wants explanations as to why I was talking to a friend (who he knew) while we were on break (it was just my friend trying to calm me down about everything). At that moment, I felt the pain.
Looking back now, I still don't feel like my old self. I'm 28 years old now, and I still cry to this song every time...
Thanks to anyone who reads this, I never let this story out and this video made me want to open up and try to free myself from my demons.

This song is basically Swiftie's anthem at this point. Taylor said that the fans changed her perspective of the song, from feeling pain everytime she play this on stage, to remembering us screaming the lyrics and crying our heart together with her. I remember first time I listen to this song, I can picture it in my head because the 5 minutes version was already detailed. And now with this short film, I finally can see the whole picture moving (especially with the line dancing around the kitchen in the refrigerator light), thats exactly how I picture it on the song.

By breaking up he's now removing himself from their story and she's no longer the "main character" she's the ONLY character and by not showing him and his reaction I think its also a great visual representation to show that that feeling of aloneness that Sadie has by focusing only on her reaction.

You know how sometimes you visualize a music video when you're listening to a song? Taylor got really close to how I imagined this one being. The lyrics being so vivid definitely helps. His point about the translation of the lyrics into visuals made me feel a little vindicated since I told someone that I wanted to make music videos similar to this (heavy on the storytelling) and they called me "basic". I'm glad someone whose opinion I value kinda agrees with me in a way!

It's also the things that she doesn't say. At The Breaking Point, when Sadie's character comes in, she's wearing a man's shirt - likely Dylan's character. In my experience, a man's shirt is donned when you stay over and have nothing else to put on, inferring she'd been there for a while. He waited 'til after and then broke up with her, which just... breaks my heart. 'cos that shit hurts, man. It really does.

This song is just hits me. 2 years ago when I was 19 I met this guy who is 9 years older than me. He is basically the HR at the place where I worked part-time job. He started texting me and after my part-time contract finished we started going out and become exclusive. It was fine at first but as time goes on I realized our values doesn't match. I barely gets his friends. Just like in the All Too Well short film, when he is with his friends he is acted a little bit different and his friends are all older than me. He wants our relationship to be more public on social media while I like to keep things private, but I follow along because I feel like maybe its (keeping things private) just a facade that I created to protect myself. But turns out it doesn't. I realize overtime that he is so misogynistic and manipulative. Doubting yourself when you are speaking out because your partner is much older than you so I end up apologizing for things that was not even my fault. Feels like you are the one that is immature when you are just stating what you want out of the relationship. I am so thankful I have the courage to end it even after 1 year of dating.
Ps. The dance therapy part is me dancing to this song in my room trying so hard not to cry

I still Amazed with how Taylor can accidentally create such masterpiece song with her bandmates.
She said on SNL that she was in sad and gloomy mood in speaknow rehearsal, and then she just pick her guitar and play along the chords and just let go what she feel inside, and then her bandmates join with her. Thank God her bandmate record it and her mother keep the record. She is indeed a genius.

The scarf is a real thing but also a metaphor for her virginity which she lost to him (at the beginning of the MV she was wearing a purity ring which after all the "messing around" scenes dissapeared), that's why she was so heartbroken about a 3 months relationship being over. He was a douche...man, I cried so much with this short film. I'm so glad Taylor is finally in a good healthy happy relationship, she deserves everything.
Also, there's a lot of parallels with champagne problems and Tolerate it ;; and lover too

  • @liznotslow
    @liznotslow 2 роки тому +2

Could the red scarf be a metaphor for Taylor's old recordings that she legally does not own? And the boyfriend is either the first record label that bought the rights to those songs, or the music industry as a whole? At the end, she reads a book she wrote - she has control over her narrative now. And the past/present owners of those songs, all the people who tried to control her and profit off her, can only look in the window now without any part of the story or piece of the pie.
I know it was originally probably just a breakup song. But there has to be a reason she chose to feature it in this short film. And maybe it holds a greater significance and deeper meaning to her now.

idk if u noticed but a lot of us felt uncomfortable w the film because of the prevalent age difference between the two of them. that was intentional bc the actors both are of the same age as taylor (20) and jake gyllenhaal (30) when they were dating. in the dining scene w friends, you can see dylan's glass was full of wine and sadie's is empty, showing how taylor wasnt even of legal age to drink yet when they were together. the bed scene made the most uncomfortable bc in the song's lyrics, it's clearly told that taylor lost her vcard to him. there's even a line saying, "ill get older but your lovers stay my age". taylor swift is basically telling her story abt being groomed and raising awareness to young girls. ive seen so many videos on tiktok how girls can relate to the whole video and they only realized how toxic it was when everybody was reacting to the short film. i say, SUPERB directing. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
