- A few days ago I did a podcast with NAS Daily on Spotify. It was a well received discussion we had about social media in the Philippines. The next day an online news agency posted an article on twitter summarizing a short section which lead to a viral controversy all of over twitter. this is what happened. Vlog 595

Pardon for being unnecessarily dragged and purposely taking snippets of your podcast out of context. Big media have ran out of content and now maliciously relies content creators for "news". This is why TV is dying and people are choosing direct content from creators.

Ur very right discussing politics religion in social media should be avoided. Even in our class Facebook sharing of news videos of political / religious situation easily cus undue discussions resulting to disagreements and negative feelings among friends.

I highly recommend listening to the ENTIRE podcast. Their conversation was insightful, amicable and respectful. It's great to see the power of social media through different perspectives. The same people who promote freedom of speech are the same people who cannot respect the opinions and perspectives of others. Deciding not to speak about politics is an exercise of your freedom of speech. The purpose of freedom is speech is to avoid one person or group from controlling or monopolizing the narrative. So this means each opinion is valid and must be appreciated and respected for this freedom of speech to work.
However, this same principle they fervently fight for is the same principle they weaponize against those who don't agree with them. Their freedom of speech misses the crucial element of respecting other people's opinion. In the end, they become the oppressors of speech they strive hard to fight against.
The best word to describe politics in the Philippines right now is "dogma", and "cancel culture" is their weapon against those who don't agree with them. Much worse, even those who don't want anything to do with politics are sideswiped in their rampage. So its either you are with them, or they condemn you. You don't have a choice.
I am sorry that you became a victim of this rabid "liberalism" in the Philippines, Wil. Its just sad that the biggest traditional media and news source in the country is the machine for this. We know what your content is all about, and I know it can become increasingly hard to talk about anything when people just want to hear politics. Not just politics though, THEIR politics. But keep going, and do it for your viewers!

because of that controversy, I listened to the WHOLE podcast because I really didn't wanna believe the article. And I was right on doing so. People really have a wicked way of twisting things turning a healthy debate into an EVIL agenda. God bless both bloggers and shame on those people who make simple things complicated.

I listened to the podcast myself very carefully and I sensed a tone of condescension coming from Nas' questioning. I dont believe his 'video game' or 'dormant news channel' lines we're just plain, flat out replies. They clearly had intent.
People can argue about what those intents were but one thing I can say is that he is passionate about he stands for. I understand why he would be frustrated.
@@stomachegg041 His passion spills out of his mouth whenever he talks and I love how he blogs with his heart on his sleeve. Ewan ko lang but for me (someone who's doing debates for a living), I don't sense a tone of condescension but I sense something different. It was like he is urging him to do something different, somehow convincing him to do the same as him but anyway, it was a healthy debate between the two vloggers. The only issue here are the people who magnify the issue while in fact the two vloggers involved were quite great, really. At the end of the day, the guys are entitled to their own opinions and have the freedom to choose the content they want to showcase.

For me, youtube or vloggers is my escape on the toxicity of the outside world. I watch youtube or vloggers contents especially Wil, because the free tv is too toxic. Wil's contents gives me positivity. I can easily access news, politics etc., but this kind of contents, contents like Wil or other youtube content creators make, cannot be easily found in free tv. That is why I support Wil and other content creators with what content they prefer to produce in their vlogs. Kuya Wil, just keep it up. Dont be affected by those nonsense people. I, too, choose not to talk about religion and politics in social media. It's my personal decision. But I still do welcome this discussion with my family and people whom I believe know how to respect other people's opinion.

I agree but for the part about unfollowing. Even I don't watch every single video of those I follow. We have the choice to curate their playlist and watch what we want to. If I'm not into the video topic, i can choose not to watch. I won't unfollow because of one video. Besides many content creators try and innovate and do different things. Thats what makes them appealing. Unlike corporate brands with rigid and established brands, content creators can make changes and experiment as they see fit.

Even in social gatherings/inuman, it's a rule never to bring up politics or religion because it will be a never ending discussion/debate. I found it funny that the people who bash you forgot that your channel isnt about current events like what Nas' content is. Yours has been about life and having fun. There's too much going on in the world and in PH alone right now that we need a bit of positivity even for 10-15 mins. Im not sure what happened to people but almost everyone became self-righteous. OG tweeters have left that platform for that very reason.

I’ve watched almost all of your vlogs since I became a fan and the moment that issue rises, I didn’t doubt u for a second. Your vlog taught me a lot as an individual and I never see u as someone who uses this channel just to gain money. Indeed, you might not often talk about politics but I know you still care and there are underlying messages in your vlogs that gives awareness in poverty and stuff like that - which made us more aware of the leaders we should vote. You opened windows, Will. You showed us the reality in your vlogs. It’s up to us viewers how to use it for a change in the government or in the Philippines specifically .
I just watched your video about this issue. And I am really sorry that this happen to you. I like your vlogs. The positivity you share to all of us brings me joy every time I watch your video. You’re actually right when you say you don’t want to talk about politics because others might use it against you. We have our own choice on what we want to do in life. But when Wil talked bout his statement him saying bout Golden Rule of not talking bout politics cause it will dismay a huge group of people, hate to break it to ya fellow Pinoys but he’s spitting facts. Hi Wil! As you know my channel has a very specific niche but can be highly politicized if I chose to. But as I don't particularly enjoy negativity, then politics will never have a place in my channel. The thing with political discussions is, there's no right answer. Each side will never agree to whatever agenda so in the end it all boils down to negativity, hypocrisy and grandstanding. Bottomline is, I choose whatever content I put in my channel. No one can dictate what I should or should not do. If certain people don't like my content, that's fine with me. If they hate my content so strongly that they make an effort to talk $hit in my comments section, I tell them to go frack themselves. Then I wait a few seconds just to make sure my reply appears in their notifications, and then block them from my channel. With any luck, they might suffer a stroke out of frustration because they can no longer reply. Carry on brother. You're ok in my book. 😎

Hi Will, when "vlogging" is not that much hit yet at bago mag sulputan yung mga "sikat" na vloggers ngayon, you are the 1st vlogger that I followed, i think it was around 4-5 years ago when the number of views doesn't matter that much lol and your followers were only like less than 100k if not mistaken. I watched your vids like on how you came to PH, learning the culture, the language etc.. and I loved it! Which made me become interested too in vlogging (though hindi natuloy). There might be some "indifferences" with your contents on how others view it but hey it's your vlog! it's more on showing your own views and perspective on each situations, topics etc..
And i can see how you improved or I should say evolved your content to fit on today's "panlasa".. you are now open to show other people's perspective.. Don't mind whatever "few" people are saying specially those news media outlets (btw ABS -CBN News is popular on quoting statements of someone and to do mind conditioning - which makes other people to believe it without even watching or reading the whole content.. in fact they should have asked your side before posting anything).
